  1. The Mag stopped doing football two or three years ago.

With that squad and that chairman, I think > plenty of managers could come in and keep them on > the up. Or completely mess up all the good work that has been done. A new manager would want to bring his own staff in and we'd lose our best players too.
  4. That's whole other discussion. What if Harry goes? I don't want to even contemplate it. He's been great for us since he arrived in 2008 and the team and staff and players has seen a great improvement year on year in all areas of the club.
  5. It's the movement of the door and the bar that the new owners have indicated is going to happen that worries me. If so where to and how? Will it all be in one space with one big square bar in the middle or will they retain the two bars? Would be nice to get some feedback from the new management to let us know what's going to happen.
  6. Charles Dickens. Now you're talking. I didn't really get into him until I was into my late 30s early 40s. Still only read half of his stuff but have really enjoyed all of it. Hard Times and the aforementioned Great Expectations are great little reads.
  7. And exactly why the HMRC will make an example of him. I don't think it looks good for Harry at all. This is just how Tottenham Hotspur's luck is, just when the going is good it all goes tits up again.
  8. Kite Runner is brilliant and so is the follow up A Thousand Splendid Sons. Both books could have you in tears though. Currently reading Irvine Welsh's The Bedroom Secrets Of The Master Chefs. Not his best by a long shot but still very funny.
  9. He also won the FA Cup for Portsmouth and got them playing in Europe for the one and only time in their history. Also, got Southampton relegated on the last day of the season from the Premiership much to the delight of Portsmouth fans. Took West Ham to a 5th place finish in the Premier League and developed some great talent there too - Carrick, Cole, Ferdinand, Lampard etc.
  10. HMRC are quite happy to allow Vodafone to 'be imaginative' about a figure in excess of ?2bn in tax. Harry's amount owed is trifling in comparison.
  11. Free Harry
  12. Free Harry. Oops!
  13. Let's wait until we've heard the case from the defence first. His lawyer is the same guy who got Stevie Gerrard off when he was caught bang to rights on film smacking a club owner. Got be worth a punt.

    The Indy

Hmmm... same thing happens to me Brendan.
  15. So, Man City are not going to appeal against Mario Balotelli's four game ban. Anyone still think he's innocent? And Howard Webb says he didn't see the incident but TV replays clearly show him pointing to the offence. Perhaps he just didn't have the balls to send him off.

    a joke

Or people from Essex. I was slanderously called a racist for telling an Irish joke on here a while back by Mick Mac. Well, he is Irish and fair play to him he'd made a good point and I felt a bit ashamed and chastised for doing so. It certainly isn't PC. So, instead I'm gonna tell a Moldovian joke. Andrei says to Nicolai "Close your curtains the next time you're making love to your wife. The whole street was watching and laughing at you yesterday." Nicolai says: "Well, the joke's on them because I wasn't even home yesterday." . . . . I'll get my coat.
  17. There is a sign on the one of the windows Sue about moving the bar and the main front door. Which would completely change the pub as we know it.
  18. Best of luck Murphy. Though I've always supported Tottenham Hotspur I come from a long line of Palace fans so I've got a bit of a soft spot for them. Go on you Eagles!
  19. Really? So you admit that his goal ratio is better than you may have thought. I suspect you haven't even bothered to look though. Of course you're more interested in goals per-season and to be honest so am I. It's one of the main reasons I'd like to see him play more. He didn't have a good season for us last year but this season he has looked really sharp and scored goals when he has been given the opportunity. I rate Ballotelli very highly and as you've pointed out his strike rate is outstanding. What I would like to see is for him to get rid of the thuggish side of his game. Until he does he'll always be a liability to his club.

  21. That's Lee Dixon, Arsenal stalwart and Manchester City fan. Hmm...
  22. It's not a sideswipe. I'm just stating how I've seen things. I see it as a backheel to the head. The first kick was an accident but the second to me is a deliberate back heel to the head and he should have been off for violent conduct. Also, I think Parker's challenge was fair and I can't see how Harry was being graceless. That's my opinion. It just differs from yours.

I don't think you'd be saying that if it had been an Arsenal player he stamped on. You'd be baying for his blood. As for Arsene Wenger's post match interview yesterday his arrogance knows no bounds. Graceless in defeat as usual.
  24. Nice touch at the CPT yesterday. Free hot roasted tatties and mini sausages. Yummo!
  25. I agree Spurs aren't scoring enough with the chances we make. Adebayor misses more than he scores. We are crying out for a top class centre forward. Pav isn't good enough and we can't afford Ade's wages.
