  1. Free chicken wings last night whilst watching the football. A little undercooked if I may say so but again, nice touch. You always get nice friendly service at the CPT. Keep up the good work.

The sub editor has been fired for drinking on the job. So, the mice will play while the cat's away. Enjoy. Roll on Liverpool v Man Utd. That's going to be a bit tasty.
  3. What a marvelous weekend of football ahead of us we have with a couple of tasty confrontations ahead of us. They'll be plenty to talk about I'm sure. Will Evra play against the Pool? I'm damned sure Terry will play against QPR. Anyway, I'll hold my hand hands up and admit that Tottenham were bloody awful tonight even though we won with Van De Vaart's only contribution of the night. Goalie should have save it as well. Think the bounce done him.
  4. That'll learn yer Sue.
  5. Hmmm... sounds like disorientated drunk/cokehead banging on the wrong door in the wrong street after being kicked out of the Stab & Crime at closing time.
  6. Old school slackness.
  7. I've warmed to The Actress recently. One of the few places you can sit outside and enjoy a cigarette with your drink without completely freezing your nuts off due the the heaters outside. I agree it was a complete dump before.
  8. Bench warmers to get a run out.
  9. Tottenham of course.
  10. There are no CAMRA beards in the CPT to the best of my knowledge. Though I like a drop of ale myself you'll find most of the regulars drink lager or Guinness. They do however do a nice pint of Doom Bar and when it's on Spitfire or London Pride. You'll find plenty of those real ale buffs in Hoopers though. And in mentioning Hoopers there's one pub that has changed for the better and still kept it "real".
  11. Could agree with you more Otta. Traditional innit. Proper publike.
  12. The Uplands could never have continued as it was and the CPT probably can't either. Change is needed to survive otherwise it goes the way of The Oglander and The Heber Arms. I'd rather a company buys it, does something positive with it and succeeds than some other company buying it, closing it down completely and turning it into a block of flats.
  13. The Mag stopped doing football two or three years ago.

  15. Otta Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I don't think everything good at Spurs is down to > Harry. With that squad and that chairman, I think > plenty of managers could come in and keep them on > the up. Or completely mess up all the good work that has been done. A new manager would want to bring his own staff in and we'd lose our best players too.
  16. That's whole other discussion. What if Harry goes? I don't want to even contemplate it. He's been great for us since he arrived in 2008 and the team and staff and players has seen a great improvement year on year in all areas of the club.
  17. It's the movement of the door and the bar that the new owners have indicated is going to happen that worries me. If so where to and how? Will it all be in one space with one big square bar in the middle or will they retain the two bars? Would be nice to get some feedback from the new management to let us know what's going to happen.
  18. Charles Dickens. Now you're talking. I didn't really get into him until I was into my late 30s early 40s. Still only read half of his stuff but have really enjoyed all of it. Hard Times and the aforementioned Great Expectations are great little reads.
  19. And exactly why the HMRC will make an example of him. I don't think it looks good for Harry at all. This is just how Tottenham Hotspur's luck is, just when the going is good it all goes tits up again.
  20. Kite Runner is brilliant and so is the follow up A Thousand Splendid Sons. Both books could have you in tears though. Currently reading Irvine Welsh's The Bedroom Secrets Of The Master Chefs. Not his best by a long shot but still very funny.
  21. He also won the FA Cup for Portsmouth and got them playing in Europe for the one and only time in their history. Also, got Southampton relegated on the last day of the season from the Premiership much to the delight of Portsmouth fans. Took West Ham to a 5th place finish in the Premier League and developed some great talent there too - Carrick, Cole, Ferdinand, Lampard etc.
  22. HMRC are quite happy to allow Vodafone to 'be imaginative' about a figure in excess of ?2bn in tax. Harry's amount owed is trifling in comparison.
  23. Free Harry
  24. Free Harry. Oops!
  25. Let's wait until we've heard the case from the defence first. His lawyer is the same guy who got Stevie Gerrard off when he was caught bang to rights on film smacking a club owner. Got be worth a punt.
