Gutted about today's result. Harry's in court tomorrow. Suspect this is where our season goes tits up. At least I have the minor satisfaction that the Arse lost at home. I'm sure Mr Parkdrive is as gutted as I am losing against his most hated team apart from us Spuds.

Torres hasn't been the same player for two or three years now. It's a very long bad run of form. I think he'll come good eventually but Chelsea need to rebuild around him so it could still take a while before he hits his stride. As for Carroll, he may have scored 19 goals last season but that was in the Championship. I don't think his style suits Liverpool and they paid way over the top for him. I can't see them getting a couple of wingers and banging in crosses for the big, rough, greasy haired, pony-tailed ponce up front. Can you?

Yeah, they were rubbish yesterday. Shocking performance from Liverpool. Chelsea weren't much cop either so take a bow Andy Carroll and Fernando Torres, at a combined cost of ?82 million, 2,000 minutes of football between them and not a single goal. Money well spent? Certainly not. Really looking forward to today's two Premiership games. Hopefully a draw between Woolwich Wanderers and Man Utd and a win for Tottenham at The Etihad. COYS!

The usual footage but still funny.

A man phones his local hobby shop and asks "Do you have a model of an Italian cruise liner?" The shop owner replies "Yes we've got just one left ". "Oh that?s great," says the man, "can you put it on one side for me?".

Fazer71 has made some very good points and most of them true. I was a regular at The Dog for decades but finally had enough of it a long time ago. It's a nice place to sit outside in the summer, drink and watch the world go by but that's about it for me these days. I think the rot first set in when they ripped the booths out in the smaller end bar over 20 years ago.

Stinks of a police cover up to me.

Hmmm.... really? I think we can still get behind the Justice for the 96 Campaign. Don't buy The Sun.

100,000. Well done and welcome back Annasfield. Hope you're going to stick around.

Catch A Fire - The Life Of Bob Marley by Timothy White. - Almost forgot this one. An excellent biog.

Happy Birthday The Greatest

I agree with you on both those choices. England's Dreaming is the definitive book on punk and the Sex Pistols. A fabulous read.

Guns, Cash & Rock n'Roll is better. Already namechecked it for you. Usual fee.

A few more I can recommend. Moon The Loon By Dougal Butler - his former chauffeur and general factotum. Dear Boy: The Life Of Keith Moon by Tony Fletcher. Stone Alone by Bill Wyman. A meticulous delve into Bill's Stones diaries and archives. Johnny Thunders - In Cold Blood by Nina Antonia. Chuck Berry - Autobiograghy - The first and original rock & roll poet. Ginger Geezer - The Life Of Vivian Stanshall by Lucian Randall & Chris Welch. To quote Stephen Fry: "One of the most talented, profligate, bizarre, absurd, infuriating, unfathomable and magnificent Englishmen ever to have drawn breath."

I thoroughly enjoyed Life - Keith Richards but then he is a big hero of mine too. Marianne's book Faithful is also an excellent read as well. Agree about Wonderland Avenue. I let you into a little secret. The girl in book is an old mate of mine. Also, see Danny Sugarman's biog The Doors. There are plenty more in this genre that I can recommend. Diary Of A Rock N Roll Star - Ian Hunter (waves at HonaloochieB). Stones Touring Party - A Journey Through America With The Rolling Stones - by Robert Greenfield. A great tale of rock n'roll excess with the Stones at their debauched, hedonistic peak. The Dirt - Motley Crew. I'm not a fan of the band at all but it another great tale of excess. Keith Richards - Victor Bokris. Keith Richards - Barbara Charone. All The Rage - Ian 'Mac' McLagen. One of the best I've read. From the man who tickled the ivories for the Small Faces, the Faces and plenty of others including Bob Dylan and the Stones. Last Orders Please - The Faces by Jim Melly. Rotten - No Irish, No Blacks, No Dogs by John Lydon. Memoirs OF A Geezer - Jah Wobble Bad Vibes - Luke Haines - an absolutely hilarious pisstake of Britpop. Jeff Beck - Crazy Fingers by Annette Carson. People Funny Boy - The Genius Of Lee "Scratch" Perry. Brian Jones - Who Killed Christopher Robin? By Terry Rawlings. Gets to the truth behind Brian's death. The Dark Stuff - Nick Kent. Memoirs and interviews with the great and the good in the 70s from the NME's finest. Bob Dylan - Behind The Shades (Take Two). The definitive Dylan biog. Up And Down With The Rolling Stones by Tony Sanchez. Also known as Keith's drug dealer. Andrew Loog Oldham - Stoned. See also the follow up 2Stoned. Bad Seed by Ian Johnson. Very good biography of Nick Cave. Nico - Songs They Never Play On The Radio by James Young. - An absolute little gem of a book. Bird Lives! The High Life And Hard Times Of Charlie "Yardbird" Parker by Ross Russell. True Adventures Of The Rolling Stones by Stanley Booth. - 69 tour, Altamont and all that. Keith: Till I Roll Over Dead by Stanley Booth. Mick N' Keith by Chris Salewicz. Jools Holland - Barefaces Lies. Yes, really this is very good. Witty and full great anecdotes. Bobby Womack - Midnight Mover - The True Story Of The Greatest Singer In The World. Guns, Cash & Rock n Roll (The Managers) by Steve Overbury. Local author and also my good friend and quaffing partner. I'm sure I've missed a few but I'll probably be back to mention them at some point but I've got things to do.

I agree he made some right blunders with some of the players he bought at West Ham but that's a long time ago. At Spurs Levy wouldn't put his hand in his pocket if he thought the player wasn't worth it.
-
No, I meant all those players you mentioned in your previous post and a maybe a few more. Still ten points above your lot though. Do you think Wenger is still up to the job or past his sell by date? I think Harry's up before the beak at the end of the month.

Pingpong put himself about a bit on Saturday with some very rash challenges. Booked but carried on doing the same and was taken off before he got himself sent off. Got a lot to learn that boy. As for the rest of Woolwich Wanderers I think you'll agree that they need completely rebuilding. Wenger's more recent purchases over the past couple of years just haven't worked out and aren't up to scratch.
-
Yes. Harry has got a lot of time for him. He'll be in the first team squad next season no doubt about it.

Well done Swansea City. I thought Spurs did very well to get away with a point there a couple of weeks ago as, on the day they were the better team but we did well to scrape a point. Today though they really showed once again what a good team they are by beating the Arsenal. And not a la Stoke/Wolves blah blah blah they achieved it by playing good football. A good passing game. In fact they beat the Woolwich Wanderers at their own game and thoroughly need applauding. Of all the teams that were promoted last season I hope that they stay up and I think they will. They have a very good young coach/manager in Brendan Rodgers and some very good players. I've been really impressed with them this season. Good luck to 'em.

No thanks. No more chains. I love coffee and I've certainly never used Nero and wouldn't want to and I hate Starbucks. If I want a coffee locally I go to Prettys.

Mick Mac Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Bad day for the Spurs unfortunately. Next Sundays > game is a must see. I was at White Hart Lane today. The only way Wolves were going to score was from a set piece/corner which they duly did though it was never a corner and Adebayor had what I thought was a perfectly good goal ruled out for offside. We should have won today but as I said earlier in the week we'll drop points and so will everyone else. Also, I think Spurs should do some work on the training ground of their own for set pieces. Our corners (usually Van Der Vaart taking them) are rubbish and we don't look capable of scoring from free-kicks either. As for Arsene Wenger's observation that we've sold our soul to TV and its revenues. I think he is absolutely correct. It was good to go to a game two Saturday's in a row as I have just done in which the match kicked off at 3pm. That's how it always used to be. Everton and Spurs next games in the FA Cup are on a Friday night FFS! It's not right but that is the way things are these days. The TV companies now dictate the fixture list not the FA. The FA make the fixtures and SKY or ESPN change them to suit their audience and to maximise their profits with their scheduling. Of course the clubs are well paid and to some extent rely on the TV money. I'm sure Spurs rely more than some other clubs on TV money as we don't have the capacity in our ground as clubs like Arsenal, Man Utd, etc etc. It's one of the reasons we want to build a bigger stadium. To earn more through gate money.
