  1. *Hoorah! Drinks all round, thank f**k it's Friday* *Offers to get 'em in* *What's ya poison pals?* *Slips behind the bar and waits to take orders*
  2. This week I've been listening to Max Romeo's Open The Iron Gate and his '67 to '76 Anthology and any minute now I'm off out to get the new P J Harvey album. Big fan of hers, got all her stuff. Just found out it's not out until Sept 24th. Doh!
  3. Ahem; yes, young Rooney, he WAS potentially a great player. When he played in the hole in the World Cup at 17 before he got injured against Portugal you looked at him and thought that boy's got unbelievable talent and he's gonna be some player, but it seems to me that that is when he peaked. He doesn't seem to have progressed much and he still has an appalling temper, which makes him prone to getting booked and sent off. As for the Lampard v Gerrard debate. They can't player together and if given the choice of the two to play with A.N Other in England's midfield then it's got to be Gerrard. Nuff said.

  5. *Pops head up from under duvet* *Neither Ant, it's La Bomba, Brandy & Chocolate* (Memories of holidays spent in Spain, La Bomba for breakfast) *Gets up rushes to bar, grabs bottle of Martell* *Swishes to fridge, grabs ice and bottle of chocolate* *Starts pouring and drinking in mad frenzy, offers one to Ant*

    Great Gigs

It's a while since I've been up there Sean but I agree the acoustics aren't that great are they? I much prefer the Shepherds Bush Empire or Bush Hall as I think it is now called.
  7. Mockney, you know full well I drink my weight in pints, it's the rest of you who are letting the side down. I think you'll find that Scotland are collectively known as 6, 7 & 9. Surely they'd be right off the scale compared to bloody Luxembourg!!!!

    Great Gigs

Echoed Annasfield, been to some great gigs there and when it was the Town & Country Club too. My only gripe is that it's a bastard to get home from late at night.

  10. Since when has Green & Blue been a pub? Are you mad? And Black Cherry, which I'm a big fan of is a bar, not a pub. Sun & Doves (almost ED)??? it's in the heart of Camberwell for God's sake. Now the CPT, that's a proper pub. Sorry if I'm sounding a touch pedantic but someone's got to put you straight.
  11. Oh yes! That popular beat combo. Love that song, what's it called again...Hairway To Stephen?
  12. I agree with you it's true these places are only down the road and perhaps a lot of the newbies are unaware of these places but why shop in Nunhead or Peckham when you have a perfectly decent butcher right on your doorstep.
  13. But Louisa those butchers shops you mentioned were in Peckham and Nunhead. Where may I ask was there a decent butchers in East Dulwich? If my memory serves me right there hasn't been a butchers shop on Lordship Lane for nearly 20 years. But please correct me if I'm wrong.
  14. I must say that would seem the most sensible option Asset.;-)
  15. You're having a laugh aren't you Sean? This doesn't sound like you at all. You been at the Oban again?
  16. I'm sure there is one of those over here. I certainly remember reading about it somewhere a while back. And, when you've gotta go you've gotta go so of course I'd use it but I guess it would feel a bit weird at the same time.
  17. 90 grand! No wonder he was shooting on sight and I must admit he was crap in the World Cup. That was one stupid bet that seriously backfired if it was meant to inspire him but it isn't much for someone who earns more than 100 grand a week.
  18. Are really the pits
  19. Agreed it's a lot of money to fork out at the drop of a hat. Bastards!
  20. A number for Forumites felt the need to complain
  21. I'd like to offer you some sympathy but I don't think they were to know that your wife was with your new born child when she parked in the wrong bay. It makes no difference anyway. It's an unfortunate and costly mistake but I'll say that the fine seems very extortionate. She'll have to be more careful next time she parks up there.
  22. There's a joke thread for this sort of thing.
  23. I think it will still be a case of picking the best team available that suits the opposition that we're up against and who's fit and who's not, but you'd feel very sorry for any of the players that have played in the last two games and done so well if they were to be dropped. But having said that there were still one or two performances last night that need improving. Ferdinand for instance, despite scoring I thought had another poor game, making too many mistakes and Wright-Phillips, although I'm a big fan of his and he was good against Israel but failed miserably last night to put in any telling deliveries from the wing. So I feel the right-wing berth is still up for grabs and people like David Beckham who we know can do a good job there as he proved in his last couple of outings for us and also Aaron Lennon will come back into the equation once he is fit.
  24. I don't think there's any mystery to it at all. The fact remains that Lampard and Gerrard aren't suited to playing together. I think anyone who regularly scores 20 goals from midfield as Lampard does though certainly deserves his place in the England squad. One is a perfect replacement for the other if either of them is unfit.
  25. Yes, Heskey has been excellent but I think it doesn't really matter whether we player with Gerrard or Lampard as both do a similar job for their clubs but just not together for England. Barry has given us much better balance. Also, I still think Ferdinand is prone to mistakes and once again he made a few last night that could have been costly. I'd rather have a fit Ledley King or Jonathan Woodgate in there alongside John Terry any day.
