90 grand! No wonder he was shooting on sight and I must admit he was crap in the World Cup. That was one stupid bet that seriously backfired if it was meant to inspire him but it isn't much for someone who earns more than 100 grand a week.

Are really the pits

Agreed it's a lot of money to fork out at the drop of a hat. Bastards!

A number for Forumites felt the need to complain

I'd like to offer you some sympathy but I don't think they were to know that your wife was with your new born child when she parked in the wrong bay. It makes no difference anyway. It's an unfortunate and costly mistake but I'll say that the fine seems very extortionate. She'll have to be more careful next time she parks up there.

There's a joke thread for this sort of thing.

I think it will still be a case of picking the best team available that suits the opposition that we're up against and who's fit and who's not, but you'd feel very sorry for any of the players that have played in the last two games and done so well if they were to be dropped. But having said that there were still one or two performances last night that need improving. Ferdinand for instance, despite scoring I thought had another poor game, making too many mistakes and Wright-Phillips, although I'm a big fan of his and he was good against Israel but failed miserably last night to put in any telling deliveries from the wing. So I feel the right-wing berth is still up for grabs and people like David Beckham who we know can do a good job there as he proved in his last couple of outings for us and also Aaron Lennon will come back into the equation once he is fit.

I don't think there's any mystery to it at all. The fact remains that Lampard and Gerrard aren't suited to playing together. I think anyone who regularly scores 20 goals from midfield as Lampard does though certainly deserves his place in the England squad. One is a perfect replacement for the other if either of them is unfit.
-
Yes, Heskey has been excellent but I think it doesn't really matter whether we player with Gerrard or Lampard as both do a similar job for their clubs but just not together for England. Barry has given us much better balance. Also, I still think Ferdinand is prone to mistakes and once again he made a few last night that could have been costly. I'd rather have a fit Ledley King or Jonathan Woodgate in there alongside John Terry any day.

SeanMacGabhann Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Aren't predictions in another thread - or should > we merge? I think that would be a very good idea Sean, we only need one football column which was the whole point in the beginning. By the way if you look further up this thread I mentioned that I quite fancied the Scots to cause an upset in France and they damned well did too. Well done Scotland, best result of the night. Brilliant! As for England...a very solid performance indeed. Michael Owen almost back to his best and probably man of the match for scoring twice and making the other one but for me it was Gareth Barry who put in a very solid performance. I think Frank Lampard has now got a fight on his hands to win his place back. We have looked a much more solid and well balanced team with a left footed player in the midfield and what's more he didn't give the ball away. But I still don't think we should get too carried away with the last very good couple of results that we've had as there are always potential banana skins up ahead and we shouldn't count our chickens before they hatch, blah blah blah!

Looks like you had a good one Keef. Soon you'll be institutionalised into the sancticty of marriage. Best of luck mate.>:D

*Oooh Keef I'll have one before the footy starts* *Admires Keefs new hairdo, goodbye ponytail indeed and good riddance I say* *Wow! DM is looking rather marvellous* *Slips out again to watch the big game and leaves the ladies to a girly night in*

Pah! David Mellor is an odious, hypocritical, slimy, creep. He used to support Fulham but once Chelsea started becoming successful soon switched his allegiences. And, what's more you can bet he's not short of a freebie himself.

Renault have designed a new People Carrier, so comfy, so spacious you can hardly notice the kids in the back. They're calling it the Renault McCann.

Helen, a quick search of Amazon.co.uk reveals several books on East Dulwich. They usually deliver in around 48 hours too.

Oh a corporate do eh? Make sure the buggers are back in their seats and finished their prawn sandwiches before second half then.

I agree with *Bob*. There's never any need to be rude to anyone. A polite "no thank you" with a smile has always worked for me. Mind you when the JWs have come round in the past they normally take one look at me and think I'm a lost cause anyway, so I guess that helps.

A man is convicted of theft in court. "Before I read your sentence," says the Judge, "have you anything to say for yourself?" "Yes", replies the man. "As God is my witness, I am innocent." The Judge replies: "Well he isn't. I am.. You aren't. Six months."

*Strolls into the room full of the joys of spring* *Sees MD74 somewhat dejected and slumped in armchair* *Here's one for your soon to be former colleagues* A man is convicted of theft in court. Having been brought up in pounds and ounces I find it very hard to change to the metric system but I suppose it does make more sense. Should we drink our beer in Steins or pint glasses though?

Enjoy the game Annasfield and let's hope we beat the Russians comfortably.

One night wouldn't be enough would it. The demand for tickets would be unbelievable. But of course I'd love to go. I was meant to see Led Zepplin in '75 at Earls Court but for some reason which slips my mind missed the gig even though I had a ticket.

I think England should progress tonight and have tipped them to win 2-1 but the other game that really intrigues me is the France v Scotland game and although I've tipped the French to win 2-1 I have just got a sneaking suspicion that they are a little bit past it, although they've been written off before during the last World Cup they still managed to get through to the final, albeit losing to Italy. Anyway, I'd really like Scotland to win tonight and also think that the Republic could cause a bit of shock against the Czech Republic, although obviously it will be very tough for them. Best of luck to all the British teams tonight.

I remember the days of the Clapham Grand Sean and it was a great venue. Saw The Fall there and a recharged Dr Feelgood before Lee Brilleaux sadly snuffed it. I suppose I could dream too. For instance The Capitol in Forest Hill (dread Weatherspoons that it is now) used to be a cinema/theatre that played host to the likes of the Stones and the Who in the early 60s and I can't see why that can't be revived as a venue for bands. Or then again where the police station is. Knock it down and we'll have a little place like the Camden Underworld, that'd do me.
