    Well futile. http://www.theguardian.com/tv-and-radio/2015/feb/10/nathan-barley-charlie-brooker-east-london-comedy
  2. It's not really Youngs & Co anymore though is it... This from Wiki: - "Wells & Young's Brewing, with Charles Wells having a 60% stake and Young & Co 40%, went into operation on 2 October 2006. Wells & Young's is now responsible for brewing, distributing and marketing Charles Wells's and Young & Co's brands at the Eagle Brewery in Bedford. In August 2011, Charles Wells purchased Young's stake in Wells and Young's." Gone tits up since they sold out and moved the Ram Brewery out of Wandsworth. The Brewery Tap has closed as well. And the site is going to be redeveloped into... you guessed it "residential and commercial properties." Makes make my blood boil, so it does.

Just hope it has more of the pub feel to like it had before they ripped everything out of the original old bar rooms upstairs but I'm not holding my breath. Youngs & Co has gone right down the shitter since they sold out to the Charles Wells Brewery in 2006.
  4. Excellent read. Great stuff.

  6. I agree with all of the above. I've not been to White Hart Lane this season as I can no longer afford it. I get my footballing fix at Dulwich Hamlet these days and to be honest I think I enjoy it more there where the fans wouldn't dream of booing their own players and who get behind the team week in week out even when they are three-nil down as was the case last Saturday.
  7. Here you go Helena. You pay at the turnstiles. http://i1369.photobucket.com/albums/ag237/jahlushhead/3097HT4L_zpsffde42db.png

  10. Pretty's Tapas on North Cross Road.
  11. Fuck off.
  12. Feck off back to Woolwich. North London is ours.
  13. Beware of the rugger buggers. http://waterfordwhispersnews.com/2015/02/03/fat-lads-who-played-rugby-once-in-school-to-talk-shit-for-next-6-weeks-warns-barman/

  15. They were label mates on Trashmouth. In late 2013 they issued a joint single EP together with the Fat Whites Wet Hot Beef Part 1,2 & 3 on one side and if I remember correctly Taman Shud's first release The Ziggurat on the other. Fat White Family recently started their own label, Without Consent Records.
  16. Hoopers was the best place to watch sport and I'm still pissed off that its gone. Never overcrowded unlike the EDT and the dreadful Actress. The Castle would be my choice as it has a big screen and a few TVs. The Plough has now started to show sport too with a TV either side of the bar.
  17. The mighty Taman Shud's debut album Viper Smoke is out on Trashmouth Records this week. Go and see them live. Here's a taster which was a single last year. And here's the latest single and accompanying video.
  18. North London derby tomorrow and it will be the first time I haven't been in nearly a decade. As much as I'd like Spurs to thrash Arsenal tomorrow the realist in me can at most expect a draw. Same goes for Liverpool away next week. Anything more than that and I'll be a very happy man indeed.

The very same Martin Carr, SJ.
  20. Some very nice words here about our lovely club. http://www.brixtonbuzz.com/2015/02/as-dulwich-hamlet-attendances-continue-to-soar-a-new-fan-explains-the-appeal/

    Weller

Weller was an abrasive fecker when he was on the gear. Back in the 90s he crashed into me at a Dr John gig at Dingwalls without apologising. I thought about having words but he was obviously a bit smashed so let it slide. At the after show party at HQ I'd gone to the loo for a slash and Weller was in there with Noel Gallagher and a couple of other Britpop tossers shoving gak up their hooters. Much merriment was being had but as we're leaving the lav Weller spots Martin Carr of the Boo Radleys, who he'd earlier shared a stage with as a guest of Dr John, tears after him and starts trying to knock seven bells out of him for apparently hitting a couple of bum notes on stage. It took three or four of us to drag him off. It left me thinking he was a bit of an arsehole.

I wouldn't say I was a fan. I have a few of his records. The Jam were very much of their time but he wrote some 'classic' material with them at a very young age. I didn't like the Style Council at all and his solo stuff is hit and miss. I can take him or leave him but you've got to admire his longevity in the music business. If he's getting accolades and awards now it's probably because he's been around so long. Though I've never been over keen on his singing voice. He's a fine musician without being spectacular or show offy and a good songwriter who's learnt his craft over the 40 years he's been working. He's written some great songs and some not so good too. His shows still sell out and he still shifts plenty of units. I suppose you could say he's a bit of a geezer but saying he's a icon is a bit of a stretch and I hate all that Modfather bollocks.
