Bale may well go on to have a better career and be considered a better player- but as it stands, Hoddle stands above both. Watch the first showreel that Jah posted. The things he could do with a football! There's one pass that he clearly puts backspin on - it's phenomenal.
  2. I agree wholeheartedly with the Hoddle vote. Best player i've ever seen wear the Lillywhite. A different level again to the Gascoignes, Linekers, Klinsmanns, Ginolas, Waddles and Bales of the world. He could do anything with a ball with either foot. I also have no idea how he managed to hit a ball so effortlessly hard, considering how heavy those balls used to be in the 70s/80s. I'm not old enough to remember the 61 side, so it's with that caveat.
  3. I don't get the appeal living in London at all. To be honest I don't get the appeal living in the countryside either, unless you're a landowner or live somewhere prone to regular harsh winter conditions. I spend a lot of time in the Lake District and the Highlands and a small car is much easier to get around in. Those tiny lanes are a nightmare for SUV drivers and other road users encountering them.
  4. I had a genuinely decent roast in there. It surprised me as it was a youngs pub and I've eaten at the clock house three times and had three bad experiences (including not long after they reopened- a tomato salad, which was about 6 cherry tomatoes cut in half on a plate. That was literally it. A fiver). But the Woodhouse was a real pleasant surprise. Fantastic staff too.

  6. Ferrero Rocher is pretty nasty to be fair.
  7. Aren't knitted ties a little bit Essex now. Apologies to any non knitted tie wearing folks from Essex.

  9. Agree about the outside bar. For the Bognor Regis game we joined the queue about ten mins after kick off and the person that went to the indoor bar got back to us with pints before we'd got anywhere near the front.
  10. I work in finance and office wear is now smart/casual but any external meeting or event is definitely 'business' (shirt, suit, tie)

  12. I think The Gowlett still do Lucky 7s on a Thursday night.

    Parkin

I've got some Phillip Larkin, a couple of badly worn merkins and a dog that won't stop barkin', but sorry, no parkin.
  14. Yeah, always assume suit, shirt and tie. If you get there and no-one's wearing a tie, take yours off.
  15. When did Bournemouth get so good? Happy with a point after that. We didn't play badly by any stretch, but they more than matched us for intensity. Eddie Howe doing a great job.

  17. Great Exhibition's bottomless bit refers to Mimosa Cocktails, Bloody Marys, Tea, Coffee, Toast. You then choose one of the main food bruch options (which isn't bottomless). Menu here http://greatexhibition.pub/post/124664497732/our-famous-bottomless-brunch-menu-food-served

I am also missing that particular joke. Didn't it recently win some kind of funniest show award?
  20. You're right actually, Easyjet is easier. Air Berlin, Wow, German Wings and even Luxair are just as bad though.
  21. One of my pet hates. I usually say something- politely, think of the children/fumes etc.
  22. Menu on their twitter feed now. https://twitter.com/SpinachLondon?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Eauthor
  23. Don't get me started on Improv. I used to HATE Whose Line Is it Anyway, and the newest incarnation is just as unfunny. Improv comedy is occasionally clever but rarely funny. Also, so so smug.
