I loved the series from the 70s, but think this one is better

this is my 'beef' penquin68. I do have a dropped kerb as do my neighbours (they were existing we did not put them in) however, we have an informal agreement with all our neighbours that they can park there. It also is a good spot for large lorries to unload, scaffolders, the post vans, and of course visiting tradespeople. I do not have a problem with people parking across it, if they leave a note on the windscreen saying where they are should I need to get out. If double yellows are introduced, what happens then? complete chaos looking for a parking space, fleets of wardens looking to meet their targets, and no doubt a council looking 'solve' the problem (and line their pockets) with a CPZ. I know that apparently the costs of the CPZ are admin or parking related, but I really do not buy that. I have a colleague who pays approx ?400 for a parking permit in west norwood. It still does not quarantee a place to park.

Dog (on dog) Attack in Peckham Rye Park
tiddles replied to Serendipity1's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
How unbelievably awful. I walk my dog in that park nearly every day (generally mornings but in the nicer weather sometimes afternoons) and I can honestly say I have never had a problem. I don't recognise the dogs you describe, but shall certainly keep and eye out. You must be so shocked by this, and your poor daughter!! please don't stop walking there - and I think First Mate is right about trying to help her over the emotional damage. Maybe a call to the Rob the Dulwich Dog Man about how to take things forward so your Dog can enjoy walks again (when physically recovered) I cannot believe the man did nothing - thats almost more shocking? I really hope this walker is caught and he learns how to take responsibility for his dogs. very best wishes to you all. -
Dog Kennel Hill Adventure Playground - this evening
tiddles replied to EDmummy's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
How brilliant that they were able to run over to the adventure playground - a place where children feel safe, protected and free to be themselves. Well done to you all and best of luck with all the plans. -

Trampoline park - does such thing exist in London?

I second air-hop!! I took two teenagers who had the most amazing time thoroughly recommend -
talk about shooting the messenger!! actually, sometimes confronting the perpetrator can end in right old mess. I had a polite and I thought friendly word with someone (who I thought was nice neighbour ) about a howling and distressed dog once, and they threatened to shove my teeth down my throat. So I quite understand someone not wanting the face to face thing. But perhaps, if the 'guilty party' reads the edf they might recognise themselves. and think twice about doing it again. please don't attack the people who report such antisocial behaviour

hi James there are new mini cameras attached to the lights at the junction with dulwich village, calton avenue and turney road. Just wondered what these were for? If they are for people who jump the lights, all well and good, but after the townley road episode, I just wondered if they were 'monitoring' for some other plans?.. many thanks ps I did have a perusal of the southwark website but did not know where to start looking for a heads up -
yes I have had one. It suggested I had not paid my bill (I have paid for the whole year by DD) foolishly waited 20 minutes on hold to speak to someone to sort out and ended up firing a grumpy email to them via the website. It if really is just a letter trying to get people to pay, how much is it costing in paper and postage for goodness sake?

Impending staff cuts at Dulwich Picture Gallery
tiddles replied to Tinky Winky's topic in The Lounge
You would think that as a very wealthy charity, the dulwich estate would want to do something. after all, the DPG is smack bang in the middle of the 'estate'. Of historical value etc etc Not holding my breath??... -

Crystal palace road - line marking tomorrow??
tiddles replied to Jake L's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
How bizarre that no=one was informed?? Someone somewhere is certainly not doing their job - council or contractor I wonder. Good point about checking they are temporary = the more I read about the council, the less I trust them or their motives. I should add that I don't include James B as part of the council - he is a valuable and helpful conduit in dealing with them. What an old grump I am!!! -
ok, one of our many new year's visitors did not use a coaster, and our nice walnut sideboard (one of our few 'grown up' pieces of furniture) has a white glass ring. Does anyone have a fool proof method for removing or reducing its visibility. I have googled and there are lots of solutions using abrasive materials - toothpaste or salt which makes me a bit nervous. any advice gratefully received!!

with regards to the old betting office opposite the actress, it would be nice if it was a shop, effectively extending north cross road - leading up to the two lovely jewellery shops. That little parade had a nice boost with those two shops opening, along with the 'junk shop' and the brilliant rye books further up. It is a shame that the shop next to he junk shop has been turned into housing as that would have added to 'the parade'. -

I have just done this out of interest and a range of house numbers in my street pop up. So does this mean these houses are identified as rented accommodation? seems a bit off to publish the details of where people actually are living and effectively their personal details. Intrigued as to how this is going to work. The web page doesn't give enough info about the aims.
