  1. need to replace the hoover and rather like the idea of a cordless 'stick' model. Does anyone have any particular recommendations? Can they really do the job of the good old plug in?
  2. aha so that is why is was so hard to get a non urgent appointment with her!! she is good tho!
  3. yes some peeps seem to take pleasure in being so snippy. I rather liked the hoardings - better than general flyposting and random graffiti Does that mean I'm a poltroon? don't know what it is but quite like the sound of it?
  4. there is one on croxted road too - near the petrol station
  5. perhaps just waiting to cross the road??
  6. sorry to be so out of touch -= but no slow trains from pr to victoria, stopping at battersea any more?
  7. I have deleted the hilarious mens seniors doubles match from yesterday in error on our virgin box. Is there anyway I can get it back? seriously in disgrace??.
  8. just williams by the goose green roundabout have loads and I am sure the bucket shop (farmers?) further up have some bits and bobs good luck
  9. Many years ago I witnessed armed police pounce on a chap in Tooting - it was a startling experience so I am not at all surprised your godson was so alarmed. Lots of shouting men tussling with someone. We realised very quickly that they were police (all unmarked cars and non uniform) but it would be really scary if you thought it was something else. hope he's ok
  10. moving is always stressful - sounds like classic case of being overwhelmed!! breath deeply and best of luck!
  11. the stuff from the vets - Advocate or Advantage - not cheap but very effective good luck
  12. Still want to find the old guys!!!
  13. a fabulous evergreen climber (clematis almondii) with other flowering clematis that flower though out the summer. I had an almondii on the wall oppo our kitchen down a rather dark alley and it did fantastically well, plus you get delicious white scented flower in the spring/summer vertical wall garden - loads off different plants in pockets that create a fabulous living wall. good luck!
  14. aha a lovely chance for clear out!! will have a good old rummage and dig out the decent stuff as I am sure we have loads knocking about. a lovely idea as well !!
  15. I think West Dulwich is probably easier for schools if you are not going private (elm green/dunraven/charter) Larger houses for your money. West norwood high street is not far away - grittier than Lordship lane but lots of useful shops and some nice coffee places. They also have the monthly 'feast', are also getting a cinema and have recently had a sports centre refurbed, many family friendly pubs. I think East Dulwich has peaked and LL will be a victim of its own success and become more like Northcote road with its chains and parking charges.
  16. what a shame. Does anyone know where the old car wash team went? If they are not too far away I would love to continue to use them.
  17. How horrible for you and I quite understand how concerned you must feel. Even if the person did not feel able to have a quiet conversation with you - a simple note would have been fine, but to threaten your animals is dreadful. Glad to hear you reported it and hope it was all a case of someone going over the top in the heat of the moment and sincerely regretting their actions now.
  18. great outcome all round it would seem. Well done for your commitment to this!
  19. what about the poor dog?? who has installed him?
  20. thank you all - stocked up at health matters, + vitamin C and zinc. Keeping it at bay (we hope) The vinegar gargle is being wheeled out tomorrow depending on how she is feeling (she's not keen!!) fingers crossed and many thanks for all your suggestions. I am seriously considering having them whipped out now!
  21. So eldest child is starting GCSE's next week, and can feel the onset of our old friend Tonsillitus. This is something that strikes her down badly two to three times a year, and of course, this spells disaster. Diet already has loads of fresh fruit and veg, so any ideas about anything that might keep this at bay for the next couple of weeks? All advice very gratefully received.
  22. Reading this with interest. I don't live anywhere near this or have heard the poor dog. What I think someone should do is pop an anonymous note through the letterbox of the house where you think the dog lives. This may seem cowardly, but I approached a neighbour many years ago about their dog doing a similar thing. I was threatened with violence - very bizarre as she had appeared to be a rather nice lady. The owners could possibly be unaware of their dog making the noise and might appreciate a heads up and the situation (and dog's distress) resolved. But it could also avoid a nasty situation if they are not so nice - and get on to southwark noise if RSPCA are not interested. best of luck
  23. Hi I second the slight repositioning of the recycling bins - I noticed these a few days ago, and at driver height, they certainly hinder one's view of traffic on LL
  24. yes that would help - also in dulwich park.
