  1. Ah ,I do like a successful result .Well done and thanks for feedback about Mark .
  2. Ah ,the notices ! I quite agree George. Puts me in mind of how the cafe in Dulwich Park was . I sort of agree ( if I've understood correctly) with Penguin's point - the good and bad instances can balance out .Except that makes it hit and miss and what's to say it doesn't balance out ? I'm currently ignoring an invitation to sign up for a pre diabetes course offered from FHP because I've had bad experiences in the past .These chiefly consisted only of wasted time and raised hopes and related to whizzo scheme of let's give you a nominated GP who will oversee your care and a medication review ,both of which were a complete waste of time ,based on an algorithmic tick box exercise and I assume conducted only because they brought extra cash to the practice .
  3. I've not forgotten being told by a receptionist when I queried a mistake that my name ( which honestly is not a common one ) was identical ( fore and surname ) to another patient who also had exactly same birthdate . The crazy thing is ,I believed her ! Shows how unwell I was feeling at the time .
  4. Spoke to a friend yesterday - 2 cars done in Waveney Ave ,think last week .Both were Honda Jazz ,apparently these are popular ,? older cars have more of the valuable metal they want .Not sure of details as to why this model is a known target . Carried out early evening ,v v fast . *BB gun used to threaten( not my friend) when interrupted .Police attended immediately .Some action apparently caught on door bell footage ,no reg nos capture of car being used by thieves . *A BB gun is a type of air gun designed to shoot metallic ball projectiles called BBs (not to be confused with bearing balls), which are approximately the same size as BB-size lead birdshot (0.180 in or 4.6 mm in diameter)https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BB_gun
  5. Ceila Hammond ? https://www.celiahammond.org/lewisham/
  6. On the subject of buildings insurance for a property with a freeholder and leaseholder - our property has 2 flats and each has a share of the freehold . We pay a very high buildings insurance premium - ?1200 pa split between the two . The building has been underpinned and this has proved a major hindrance in arranging alternative insurance .
  7. Katesonic - I thought there was a thread on leaseholders who have Southwark as a freeholder but I can't find it . But it seems to me that this thread is not specifically ( or at all ? ) about Southwark council .
  8. Is Court Lane being considered for "greening" ? What exactly is this ? Sounds nice ,how can Barry Road get some ?
  9. Lot of helicopter activity in the early hours ,was thinking of this missing woman and wondering if they were looking for her . Though probably unrelated .
  10. thank you Tima ! https://www.horniman.ac.uk/story/monkey-business-swings-into-forest-hill/ wonder how much the entrance fee will be
  11. Picked this up about 4.30 pm on Tuesday 23 Feb .Can be collected from Day Lewis Pharmacy .
  12. Oh diable do you think Alice and I are the same person ? Or were you just using the names as an illustration ? I think we have very different posting styles ,though I do seem to share a lot of Alice's views.
  13. So much talk about so many things - where's the data to demonstrate it ?
  14. no! That's outrageous . https://londonnewsonline.co.uk/exclusive-southwark-housing-chief-quits-after-south-london-press-investigation-of-twitter-account/
  15. Hi Wardy - did your family rent your home or own it ? Apologies if that's a bit personal and no need to answer ! I just can't help reflecting on your experiences growing up ,and mine .I was born early 1951 but lived on a council estate on Sydenham Hill ,Lordship Lane end . We were blessed with heating and hot water ,but no playing out with friends or alone .Your childhood does sound very different from mine ,I even went to Sainsbury's in Forest Hill with my mum . I guess I'm thinking we had a much more "privileged" life than yours ,more comforts ,though I identify with the dietary restrictions! But my mum used to long for a house with a garden ( however small ) and a front door on to the street .
  16. I've found that past subsidence and underpinning means that a lot of insurers won't touch us . We stick with the firm we have had for years and it's expensive . Have you thought of cutting out the managing agent by going for the right to manage ? https://www.lease-advice.org/fact-sheet/right-to-manage/
  17. I don't doubt that is not news ,but it is now possible to go online and check whether the system has reached your level of eligibilty .If so you can book a slot https://www.nhs.uk/book-a-coronavirus-vaccination/do-you-have-an-nhs-number there is a disclaimer about it's use but you will only be allowed to book if eligible and it's use is being encouraged by 119 ( ttest and trace) and by HP. worth checking daily .
  18. yes ,thanks muffins ,could ypu PM me the details ? And thanks Pugwash ,that all sounds sensible!
  19. Does anyone have experience of this ?
  20. Sue I had two texts from GTTS ( I'm an outpatient)and tried to contact them to say that I was already booked at Tessa Jowell .I don't have a smart phone but typed the link into my laptop browser but had no luck . When I got through on the phone they said they weren't able to delete people from their system and to ignore the texts
  21. The asymptomatic testing is for anyone without symptoms whether ecv and shielding or not .Though someone who is shielding shouldn't be putting themselves at risk by going out and visiting the testing site .Guess a first appointment or similar might lessen risk .
  22. Nigello ,I was making 2 different points ,very incoherently! 1 Here are the suggested priorities and 2 but there seems to be a scattergun approach which is prioritising numbers achieved over priorities followed .
  23. I think a scatter gun approach is being used and that in the rush to get as many vaccinated as soon as possible priority by age/health/exposure is sometimes being overlooked . This extract suggests priority groups https://assets.publishing.service.gov.uk/government/uploads/system/uploads/attachment_data/file/950113/jcvi-advice-on-priority-groups-for-covid-19-vaccination-30-dec-2020-revised.pdf JCVI advises that the first priorities for the current COVID-19 vaccination programme should be the prevention of COVID-19 mortality and the protection of health and social care staff and systems. Secondary priorities could include vaccination of those at increased risk of hospitalisation and at increased risk of exposure, and to maintain resilience in essential public services. This document sets out a framework for refining future advice on a national COVID-19 vaccination strategy.
  24. From a discussion with a healthy 72 year old - text from gp surgery asking to phone re vaccination ,phoned surgery . Slots all gone for this week but told to ring again on Friday . Suggestion was that this round of vaccinations being delivered from Damilola Centre and co ordination with GP surgeries making it difficult to precisely match invitations to appointments .
