  1. Jazzer " Was told I "needed" to have a long term health condition check with a Health Care Assistant, eventually was offered a double appointment because that was what was "apparently" needed. I was seen by a new qualified (HCA), he took my weight, height and blood pressure and spent 20 mins doing this. Could have been done in a 10min slot. What did I gain from the appointment, nothing, its a tick box exercise by FHRGP." I hear you Jazzer .I have yearly medication reviews and have found the pharmacist helpful and professional .But the phone review I had the other week was not by him but by someone else .I'm sure she told me her name ,also sure she didn't mention her role . I found it so off putting ,I also have yearly blood tests which Leslie the pharmacist was always happy to arrange .But this person seemed determined to argue wanting to know why did I want them ,when I explained it was post cancer surgery which had removed part of my stomach ,she wanted to know why the hospital wasn't organising them (it was 10 years ago ) .Then she pointed out that they weren't due until next month and wronlgly quoted me as saying I had all of my stomach removed .But whatever, I would need to make an appt with a GP for a blood tests Then she moved on to her tick box exercise re pre diabetes -which my last bloods had shown I was no longer classified as . Did I exercise ?,did I walk ?,how much did I walk ..blah ,blah blah. I don't want to have to argue to get blood tests which I've always had as a standard ,I don't want the practice's agenda to be forced on me with no regard to my queries and health .I don't want want to be ambushed with a survey that I don't find helpful but which I suspect entitles them to additional funding . And having a medication review before results of blood tests is illogical and wastes everyone's time .
  2. "others, which were attached by elastic band to my package, for houses further down my street" that does happen occasionally ,and TBH I think it's pretty forgiveable at the moment . -
  3. I'm very happy to have two packages which I had given up on .I had feared that a huge backlog would inevitably result in lost items .One of my packages had a damaged wrapper and the address was hard to read . I think credit is due to those delivering the backlog - they are doing a good job.
  4. "Because they were 2D barcoded, RM could readily outsource them because they would know what was overdue and reconcile this with what they needed to outsource" I don't understand this ,could you ,or someone else ,enlighten me ?.
  5. Interesting cidolphus .I got backlogged mail this evening - about 8.20.It appeared at the same time as a Yodel delivery of 2 parcels .One of which was for someone else several streets away . My guess is that Yudel also delivered the mail ,which was actually 3 small packages .Franked 12 Dec .
  6. Do you know when you think you dropped him ? Was it today ,Sunday ?
  7. I'm on Barry Rd and have seen postal workers delivering both letters and packets today ,Sunday . Hope I get the 2 long outstanding items I'm waiting for soon .
  8. Maybe post here? https://nextdoor.co.uk/neighborhood/eastdulwich--London--England?source=neighborhood_name
  9. Lower Forest Hill - is that the area that encompasses Sainsburys ,The Weatherspoons in the old cinema , Forest Hill Station?
  10. Postie I spoke to today said they are now getting some extra help .
  11. Thanks for posting Loki .
  12. Pointlessly ,but out of curiosity,I'd like to know more about the sorting process and at what stage items are franked .
  13. A few Christmas cards filtering through here .No idea when posted as they are not franked .So I guess that as I can reuse the stamps represents a sort of compensation . I now routinely think of work arounds ,the copy of the marriage certificate I want to fill in a blank on a family tree ? Posted to a friend in another part of the country for them to photograph and send to me . But that won't help people waiting for essential documentation .
  14. In case anyone has missed this Line of Duty interview taking BJ to task . https://www.hitc.com/en-gb/2022/01/18/watch-led-by-donkeys-video-sees-line-of-duty-probe-boris-johnson/
  15. "How did thy know to deliver one bill and no Christmas cards or other letters" This is what I don't understand .Random break through post arriving while stuff posted weeks before remains undelivered .I guess there is no system whereby the backlog is held in an organised way .Either by date or postcode?? Which makes me think that even with more staff it's going to be difficult to deliver the backlog ,that the longer this goes on the worse the situation will get .And that post will be simply "lost" .
  16. Really interesting posts Sue and Penguin ,thank you . I fear,as Rockets has said ,that much post will simply get lost and never reappear. And hear hear to same poster's comments to Cllr Mcash.
  17. Oh Foxy ,you poor thing! Constipation is the pits and such a close bedfellow with operations .As if you don't feel bad enough. Nothing compared to the morphine induced hallucinations - I was convinced I was back in the 1950s and those wall mounted anglepoise type lights morphed (see what I did there ? ) into giant crickets . Let me know if you need a hand with anything .We have met ,I got some proving baskets for sour dough .
  18. We received 2 Christmas cards yesterday ,One from abroad postmarked 13 Dec and one from SE26 postmarked 19 Dec . I can't understand why those two got through and not others .Why would they be special ?
  19. and 4 - 3 - 2 - 1 bingo this thread is locked .
  20. If some of the post is sorted and sitting waiting to be delivered wouldn't it help if individuals could go down and collect it ?
  21. Yesterday ,29th Dec ,we received one card posted 16 Dec . I don't understand how one piece of post gets picked up and delivered and not others . Could it be that the sole item we got through the door had been caught up with another resident's bundle and then kindly onwardly delivered by that resident ? I know I've had occasion to do this .
  22. I spoke to a postman on Barry Road yesterday .He said letters /cards were in their slots .So I'm guessing they are largely sorted ? I'm beginning to brainstorm here and wondering if Highshore Road could have some dedicated open days where eg residents of certain postcodes could come down with ID and collect their post themselves?
  23. I wonder if cards/letters might be sorted and could be collected ?
  24. Have people been successful in calling at Highshore Road and asking staff to look for their mail ? I'm wondering about going down there .
  25. lindylou - it's rarely washers now ,it's all ceramic cartridges and a million different sizes
