  1. It seems that "journalists" have now worked out some of the implications of the legal decision. This seems East Dulwich specific to me if anyone has paid East Dulwich Foxtons an illegal commission.
  2. Price of a meal for two in Franklins?
  3. Well, let's be accurate: ?92.80 per week.
  4. > I believe I could feed Mrs MM & I for a week for ?100 That's not ?100pw for food alone. There's gas, 'lectric, water, council tax, insurance etc, before your first loaf.
  5. Help is at hand. Interesting interpretation of UK law though.
  6. Be careful: cats are now "protected animals".
  7. Ken Hoole and Edyth Watt of the East Dulwich Society (based in SE23?) still seem to be representing the views of East Dulwich residents to official bodies. Has anyone seen any recent publications of this group, attended any of their meetings, know how many members the group has, or know what their mandate is to represent East Dulwich?
  8. More progress on Somerfield becoming a Co-op
  9. Thank you Jah and bob. Do you mean this church? If so I'll go and check it against the "ARP" photos.
  10. This previously got moved under Rule #53, but may provide an explanation.
  11. But look at the editing history!
  12. Bob S, I'm on a fishing trip as I don't know the answers. I would have expected the ARP to have a "W" on their helmets, but there was some local improvisations before national standardisation. They could be local volunteer ambulance drivers. So, any help in identification is welcome. I don't think that paint was rationed, but it was in short supply, as were paintbrushes, and for domestic use limited to a three-colour ultilty range: cream, green, and brown.
  13. I know my place.
  14. Here are the women. I'd appreciate help. Can anyone identify the building?

    Alcohol

  16. Can anyone confirm this is, in fact, a photograph of our East Dulwich ARP?

    Alcohol

Have I got this right? Catholics drink more alcohol.
  18. This wouldn't happen in the UK. Our local authorities and utility companies are too smart.
  19. ?3.40 is the legal minimum. No East Dulwich shopkeeper would be that mean. It's a matter of negotiation (and perhaps flirting skills). A reasonable employer would pay the same rate to all staff delivering the same value added to the business, juvenile or not. A greater concern should be a 17 year old female left in sole charge of a shop. This needs a risk assessment.
  20. Minimum wage for a 17 year old is ?3.40 per hour.
  21. Debt of British real estate agency Foxtons, which now faces a fall in UK home sales, was offered at about 80 pence per pound about two months ago
  22. The photo of Adys Road reminds me of how many small "back street" shops we have lost over the years.
  23. Hair spray does nasty things to a moth's breathing apparatus.
  24. Wonderful thing the internet. Easier if you know thw pub's proper name though.
