  1. Hi The freeholder has erected scaffolding in my garden without notification. They climbed over the wall to do so as my side gate is locked. There are no signs up to say who the company is and one of the vertical poles is not secured and doesn't reach the ground. Rather worrying. I've not been told how long they will be, even though I've asked. Does someone know the basic rules please? They have also moved my garden storage metal box and thrown it down the garden, so it's completely damaged and the contents have been thrown over the garden too. Totally Peed Off. Need guidance on what to do/ who to report it to.
  2. Blue Planet is BBC - that alone is worth the money. Love David Attenborough. The BBC could do with a bit of budget management and outrageous that the 75+ are having to pay licence fee again
  3. You know you shouldn't post online - the vet shouldn't have advised you to. It's a source of animals for bait in dog fights. Do you know which vet you spoke to? I'm going there tomorrow and will mention it to them.
  4. oh lord - you're seeing some positivity to it? That's red rag to a bull on here.
  5. the comment was about enforcement
  6. oh, did you ask me for supporting evidence? There's quite a lot actually. Compassion in World Farming have done detailed work on the issue. If you think being compared to politicans is an insult, that's interesting. I actually didn't judge it as that.
  7. I thought it was rather fitting.
  8. you'd all make excellent politicians
  9. I don't buy meat from the EU. While the EU regulations are better than the UK ones and they have done much for the welfare of animals, they are shockingly bad at enforcing them when it comes to farming.
  10. irregardless of the Festival snobbery, having a few beers in the park, with some bands to listen to and some good food - what's wrong with that? I've had loads of fun, even if the music's not "all that".... the energy is usually fab and makes for a great day out. I've only seen one band (Air) who were supposed to be brilliant and were utter rubbish and it didn't spoil a good day. If you don't want to mix in, don't go.
  11. do you disagree about the statement re EU fishing ?
  12. what, so Remainers leaving notes pretending to be Leavers, to hammer home their point that all Leavers are racist? There is definitely spite from the Remainers, evidenced even on here, although I think that's a step too far. Doesn't mean it's impossible though. The police are investigating and rightly so. There are some very twisted individuals.
  13. that is.
  14. There's the assumption that anyone who voted leave must have done so based on the fact they only like English people. Also, if you have a different opinion to some people, they like to insult you. Neither of which reflects a very balanced individual.
  15. can your neighbours smell it in their house?
  16. did you go naked in the mud? I remember naked muddy people! Maybe we've met :-)
  17. there are certain things all men should be aware of when it comes to behaviour 1. Do not hang around children on your own as this may be perceived as a threat 2. Do not walk behind a single woman when it's late, even if you're going in the same direction - cross the road - this will most likely scare the hell out of her and so on. It's right the OP has raised her concerns, valid or not - it's better than something happening and then wishing she'd said something. It would have been better to let a dad in the park with his kids know, maybe he could have spoken to him at the time. Or called the police and taken a description. Most likely nothing to worry about, but it may not have been innocent.
  18. I like Basement Jaxx, but it's a lot of money for a cooking demo/ expensive food/ background music thing. Sort of a mixed-up-not-sure-what event Blackheath had a fab line up last year - haven't seen this year's but should probably look...summer's on it's way!!!!
  19. There is a reason they are targeted - and there is a reason school's do not want children to have mobile phones. Perhaps, as parents, we need to look at why we think our children need high value phones. Back in the day - as you say, there was no point in mugging other kids, as they didn't have anything worth stealing.
  20. disagree the presence of officers around the school reduced the number of crimes against children leaving the school.
  21. it's very true. Less police on patrol. We could even do with some CSO in the neighbourhood. Does not the fact our children are getting mugged allow anyone to point out the obvious? of course it has political roots.
  22. agreed Foxy. sad when a long standing business shuts :-(
  23. Gentrification is not about independent coffee shops. I doubt that word had even been used until early 2000s. It's about the cleansing of an area and making it bland (mainly closing the funky independent places.
  24. get in touch with the banks directly. I found this. It might give you some thoughts. I would just get my son to call them, find out who to contact and them email/ phone them directly - send in a cv - what he's interested, what he does outside school etc etc. what he's hoping to gain - what he'd like to do in teh future, what drives him etc. If nothing happens, contact them again, thank them and say you'll try again when he's in Y13.... It's competitive.
