  1. He is best going to A&E and they can detox him. you have a big heart, but it's not that simple. I had someone staying with me who was going through the same. The only way he could get help was going to therapy and staying as in patient. Otherwise we'd have to watch him 24/7. He's sneak out, buy vodka, go to the park, get picked up by ambulance, go to hospital, escape hospital and the cycle would continue. Really, with alcoholics, they need more than one on one support. More concerned he's on his won, where's his family?
  2. It must be the minority of people who are financially in the same position as before the lockdown.
  3. I agree with garages2018 I can't see why this one person is selected above a number of incredible people.
  4. I had Blockbuster Drains come out and they did a CCTV drain survey which found cracked pipes and blocked surcharging pipe from kitchen (ie so blocked with grease and things that the water from sink etc was going straight into my garden. They can also tell if pipes go into sewer and if not, then it will go to soakaway. They then did a leak test to see how much water was leaking into the soil and not flowing as it should, into the drains. It did cost though but they were brilliant and I would highly recommend them. I now have a legal case to recover costs for damage repair.
  5. I'd rather go to Devon than France anyway - and summer's going to be lovely. We're going away for winter instead, should have settled down a bit more by then.
  6. As Abe said, apply to court for judgment to be set aside. It's easy. Just Google it, you don't need a solicitor. Do it quickly though. What's the bill for? We're you expecting it? Can you dispute it? In order to enforce a payment, eg sale of your flat, the freeholder would need to apply to the court. There's an organization called Lease. They are free to talk to and you just book an appointment online. They are actually really amazing. Just Google Lease
  7. It's not about ALL racism. But it SHOULD be. It's about the regime in western world. BLM are disruptive, with a commitment to disrupt state structure that disproportionately harms black people, it's anti captitalist, antiauthoritarian. It's not about all racism and it's not about all slavery. Ok, shoot me now as clearly no one's allowed to say anything negative....
  8. 5G is dangerous for wildlife. Fact that people are less affected means it largely bypasses people's level of interest.
  9. I am bewildered by this - people on one hand say the government hasn't done enough to stop the virus and on the other hand people are out and about as if there is no virus at all.
  10. Spooky? Very sad actually. Perhaps you could ask them if they need anything. This is the link for Streetlink. They help homeless people. Remember, this person is vulnerable, not spooky or scary or anything else. https://www.streetlink.org.uk/
  11. Agreed KK. We'really continuing to keep safe. Hope you are too
  12. The congestion charge increase is also to atop car numbers increasing. The financial situation as result of civil would be same under any govt or mayor. Fact remains, the funds need to be recouped.
  13. The government withdrew funding from TFL a few years back. This is the only country that does not have a government subsidised transport system. The fares have been frozen as part of the Mayor's pledge and the free travel for pensioners and school kids was at the Mayor's request. It is the government who has stipulated the fares freeze must end and that free travel is finished. WHO do you think is going to fund the government furlough funding and other bailouts? Expect tax increases and all sorts of other lovely stuff.
  14. my friend is a primary school teacher and her husband has Huntington's Disease, she is incredibly worried about passing the virus to him and scared about losing her job if she says she is not comfortable going back to work. It's incredibly scary as - while I know the plans, I don't see practically how social distancing with little kids can work and can't offer much reassurance. They live in a small house so social distancing at her home would be nearly impossible.
  15. I had a woman, mid afternoon in my front garden trying to steal my large teak garden table. I asked her what she was doing, "taking the table". She looked amused when I asked her to get out and bugger off and didn't seem at all bothered.
  16. The donations I am aware of are to support the family directly
  17. It's unprecedented times. No need to insult each other. Personally, I'm enjoying fewer cars about and hope that continues. There is short term, mid and long term and strategies/modelling is based on different scenarios. It's not about deflecting scrutiny over how the virus was handled, which arguably should have been stricter with enforcement. It's about safely getting the economy back and people working safely, while mitigating the challenge from those who think they are invincible and safety rules need not apply. People who use their cars for unnecessary journeys will just have to stop, there won't be room on the roads. It will be essential journeys only; the volumes on public transport will increase staggered rate as expected. People really need to take responsibility and a good hard look at the reason they are travelling
  18. As a business owner pnb, I would expect you to have a better grasp of basic economics than suggest this is extended for a couple more months. Therefore, I deduce you are just wishful thinking.
  19. So it's the government's fault people are still going out and they are at fault? Do those who believe this also believe people cannot be responsible? Are you actually endorsing a nanny state? The arrogance of people is astounding.
  20. Palestinian olive trees?
  21. Thank you all. Willow liked the pate and has had her tablets easily. Managed to get a pill gun from the vets too. Phew!
