  1. we watched the moon rise and it was beautiful - could literally see it move across the sky on it's ascent!
  2. I am very confused. I thought subutteo was table football?
  3. I thought moving to Surbiton was like getting the Go Directly to Jail card
  4. choose your poison carefully - and stop when the fun stops
  5. The Boys from the White Stuff was an obvious play on the Boys from The Black Stuff - which was on TV around the same time. It's not really sinister or racist.
  6. no - basically - don't give to scammers, give to a homeless charity instead. Or a charity of your choice (cats or not, no one is judging anyone's choices).
  7. yes - it's organised. And quit profitable. To be avoided in my opinion. The Big Issue sellers are registered and supported in getting back on 'their feet' - so do not lump them into the same category
  8. flexible
  9. Glad she knows her way home and arrived safely :-)
  10. my friend did this - it was quite clear they were just after free labour as they made her do a full 12 hour shift. Then nothing. The next restaurant asked her to come in for a few hours as a trial and at the end of it, invited her to start working for them. so, can't say there is a blanket scam going on, but it would be interesting to see how many people do get hired by these places.....
  11. Peckham completely beats LL VoodooRay is half price on Monday too
  12. thanks - I've tried all of above and it's drying out - thanks for the tip on bandages
  13. any tips on how to heal a cut without it scarring?
  14. I think ddboy's key word is 'expectation' - ownership of right of way. I don't think anyone minds buggies in general, but that's not the point being made.
  15. I presume you don't actually HAVE to travel each day? I had a woman almost sitting on my lap, such was her assumption that she could take up half of my seat as well and that I had failed to make enough space for her and needed some kind of punishment to teach me the error of my ways. I'm just thankful that I am not her and do not have to live with her attitude. And I hope it made her feel empowered, because I can't imagine what else she got out of it (although I did smell rather divine and maybe she thought it would rub off)
  16. I really like this approach - PETA collect unwanted fur (mainly donated after educational campaigns) and give them to the homeless "Donating unwanted furs that have been marked with red paint to homeless people not only helps needy people keep warm, it also allows us to counteract reports of a ?fur comeback? by showcasing that we are receiving more donations of fur than ever before from people appalled at the cruelty involved in fur ranching and trapping. In media interviews resulting from fur giveaways, we are able to point out that, even after using hundreds of furs in educational displays, dumping them at museums and outside furriers? stores, painting them for floats, dragging them through the streets, burying and burning them, and even donating them to wildlife rehabilitators for use as animal bedding, we still have plenty of coats left over. Fur giveaways also counteract furriers? efforts to portray fur as ?upscale,? ?chic,? or a status symbol; rather, the overwhelming influx of fur into our office means that fur has hit rock bottom." It would be worth knowing how many people who buy fur know the truth behind the marketing.
  17. Why not call the department and have a chat. the main concern would be that the ceiling would have to be build to support additional weight, rather than just the roofing - you wouldn't want to fall through. And there would no doubt be safety issues. And the neighbours might get a say.
  18. Maybe PETA are very clear where they stand but I wouldn't go so far to say that you are either vegan or on their 'wrong side'. In fact, there's nothing wrong with making informed decisions (like the OP) or being vegan. Either of which are preferable to being willfully ignorant about the suffering behind the closed doors of a number of companies/ industries. I would rather be able to criticise an organisation for being vegan than not having anyone seek to provide information and reduce animal cruelty. And since veganism is getting quite on trend, it wouldn't surprise me much to have a vegan restaurant on LL. Oh, maybe on second thoughts....
  19. are Angharad and OP same person? police accompanying an ambulance is not unusual. don't worry - if it was a murder you would have seen the yellow 'do not enter' barriers. Ergo, it's not relevant to you. maybe for another time, in the spirit of community and all that, you might venture out and get to know who your neighbours are and then be genuinely concerned for their wellbeing, rather than being concerned you've missed something exciting.
  20. Sadly, I think you'll find the fur is real nonetheless. You can get fake fur that looks very realistic, but generally it's not supposed to.
