  1. I read "A Life's Work" too before we had kids. Thought it was insightful, honest and true. Never much discussed it with anyone because I felt it was too hard a message for some. I'm a dad by the way
  2. Hi, people - Having spent the last two days in Dulwich Park I need a change of scenery so will head off to Peckham Rye Park tomorrow morning, aiming for the cafe for about 10. See you there Molly.
  3. I should be around with my two boys, (5 and 2.5). Weather seems set fair for a park pic-nic and I can do Dulwich, Peckham Rye, or Horniman Triangle or Gardens pretty easily. Never been to CP one o'clock club and wouldn't mind trying that if you fancy.
  4. Oh, Spurs you just don't get it: you were supposed to beat Portsmouth at the weekend and then go on to win the cup so that Chelski didn't and then lose to us last night (about 0-8) so that we could pip Chelski for the title. I mean why do you think I kept having that dream?
  5. Missed this posting until too late. Would have liked to join you but we are busy making paper sculptures at home this morning. Have a nice time. Oh, and let me know what it's like down there - we might try it later in the week.
  6. Yes thanks, Helen, a lovely time at the sandpit. Not too busy through midday and early afternoon and we left just when it started to get uncomrfortably packed.
  7. Hi Tim, We used Universal Au Pairs for our current au pair and they seemed fine. The girl we have this year is excellent. Universal Au Pairs Best of luck Citizen
  8. Sorry I missed the met ups in Peckham Rye Park on Fri and at the Horniman on Sunday - but I will be at the Horniman Sandpit for a picnic lunch with my little boys (5 and 2.5) from around 12.30. Look out for a dad sitting next to one blue scooter and one green one. citizen
  9. Yep, must admit I got caught up in it last night and it sure was fascinating. Westwood really held his nerve after Mickleson went through that purple patch to take the lead.
  10. So even though I know little about golf my prediction for the Masters, Westward, is looking sweet. I'm an out-and-out risk-taker so I'm nipping to the bookies to put a quid on him making the cut.
  11. They are either excercise machines or sculptures. I'd bet my bottom euro that they are the former. They are installing Table Tennis tables in some school playgrounds. There are table football tables in the playground at Peckham Academy.
  12. Anyone else notice that there are some newly installed table-tennis tables in the playground area in Dulwich Park. Outdoor ping-pong!
  13. Because I don't like golf but Lee Westwood once broke his leg driving a golf ball which seemed a bit heroic to me.
  14. Lee Westwood for the Masters
  15. My son, nearly 5, often skips as we walk around. When he does, it lifts my heart and makes everything right with the world.
  16. If I was looking to buy a flat I would not be looking at Strata either - mainly because I wouldn't want to live in E and C, but if the block was in Fitzrovia, I could be persuaded. Well, if I didn't have a family.
  17. I'll be there. Some time back, Clock was my first drinks.
  18. Anyone else impressed by the new tower block at Elephant and Castle. Watching it going up over the past year has been great. Apparently it is called Strata and is "the tallest tower block in Central London"
  19. Hi caro ed, welcome back to East Dulwich. Somerfield on Lordship Lane has become a Co-op. Chener Books has a new sign.
  20. Really lovely to read all the comments on here. Have to generally concur that having number one is the big change in your life. Before that you don't have to parent and afterwards you discover that parenting is a 25/7 endeavour. And that is true however many you have.
  21. Young man = trousers worn on hips Middle age man = trousers worn on waist Old man = trousers above belly button
  22. Really sorry to hear that, slater. I use that path all the time with my little ones - shame that it looks like some "targetting" going on. Was your son on the way to school?
  23. Big up Theo! He changed the game.
  24. Barcelona should be winning this tie and now we are back in it. But I'm a football aesthete and I wish Barca were still in front.
  25. Getting that sinking feeling.. can they throw in the towel?
