We bought one of to see electric zappers that are like a tennis racquet.very effective. 😁
  10. On the John Lewis front- we found a mattress we liked there- it was ?800 in Croydon, I went to Peter Jones a week later and there was the same one in the sales for ?400- with a slight mark on it. If you are spending that much money its worth keeping an eye out for sales.
  11. IMO Lloyds are not helping by their ridiculous policy of only having one desk open, and other staff have to float around the lobby with their tablets. There were 8 of us queuing last Thursday, we all wanted to speak to someone on the desk, but the woman refused to go behind the counter and serve us.Against company policy. Waited 30 minutes, so NOT impressed.
  12. Saw him last year at a DOE ceremony, he strode in, unaided, chatted with our sons and daughters, and came to talk to guests. He was impressive. Knew his stuff.
  13. When people said "Where is that? "
  14. Just looking at him always makes me feels lightly queasy.
  15. Breaking news from the Standard then. .. Best outcome so far of the election. She will be pleased to get rid of him.
  16. the girls got ?7 an hour a few years ago when I came across this crew. ( Sandra takes the ?3 for setting them up). :(
  17. I guess the issue is that the furniture used to be facing the fireplace and now I don't think looking at a stack of wine bottles will be so good......... maybe a kind of drinks cabinet though...... :)
  18. Its a party wall I'm afraid Alice. Keep those ideas coming please. I've never head of a bio orb. Mmm
  19. I've spent hours trying to think what to replace a fireplace with. I don't need any heat - underfloor heating is being installed. There was an imitation gas- coal effect fire there - its just the room is lacking a focus in the chimney breast. Do any of you creative and stylish people have any ideas? The house is about 100 years old and the fireplace is in the ( to be formed) kitchen/diner/ family room. Kitchen will be quite modern looking but with a range cooker. Im looking forward to losing the bulky raised hearth that has been sticking out and taking away space. I feel the default is a space with a few candles in it which I'd like to avoid. I was toying with an trendy ethanol burner - but not very safe- too expensive https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ethanol+burner&rlz=1C1OPRB_enGB518GB520&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjf-qfl8pzTAhWmBsAKHbLyB-oQ_AUIBygC&biw=1536&bih=760&dpr=1.25#tbm=isch&q=ethanol+burner+fireplace&imgrc=YrzmWygt9MBZCM:

  23. I used to go to school on the Isle of Wight in the 70's . No one ever went away in the summer holidays- lots of parents worked in the tourist industry, and so did the children ( and in farming). But they often went to Spain off season, usually in term time,. I see the academic levels on the Isle of Wight are pretty low, and I can't help wondering if there is some link?
  24. I have not used uber, but is it possible to distinguish which cars are diesel or not when they quote you?
