  1. the girls got ?7 an hour a few years ago when I came across this crew. ( Sandra takes the ?3 for setting them up). :(
  2. I guess the issue is that the furniture used to be facing the fireplace and now I don't think looking at a stack of wine bottles will be so good......... maybe a kind of drinks cabinet though...... :)
  3. Its a party wall I'm afraid Alice. Keep those ideas coming please. I've never head of a bio orb. Mmm
  4. I've spent hours trying to think what to replace a fireplace with. I don't need any heat - underfloor heating is being installed. There was an imitation gas- coal effect fire there - its just the room is lacking a focus in the chimney breast. Do any of you creative and stylish people have any ideas? The house is about 100 years old and the fireplace is in the ( to be formed) kitchen/diner/ family room. Kitchen will be quite modern looking but with a range cooker. Im looking forward to losing the bulky raised hearth that has been sticking out and taking away space. I feel the default is a space with a few candles in it which I'd like to avoid. I was toying with an trendy ethanol burner - but not very safe- too expensive https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=ethanol+burner&rlz=1C1OPRB_enGB518GB520&espv=2&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwjf-qfl8pzTAhWmBsAKHbLyB-oQ_AUIBygC&biw=1536&bih=760&dpr=1.25#tbm=isch&q=ethanol+burner+fireplace&imgrc=YrzmWygt9MBZCM:

  8. I used to go to school on the Isle of Wight in the 70's . No one ever went away in the summer holidays- lots of parents worked in the tourist industry, and so did the children ( and in farming). But they often went to Spain off season, usually in term time,. I see the academic levels on the Isle of Wight are pretty low, and I can't help wondering if there is some link?

  12. yes, but also you as leaseholders will all jointly own something of extra value, and you must be sure who will have control of the garage and who will control who you sell it to etc etc Scenario- someone gets permission to develop it- it becomes worth ?300k- 2 flat owners want to sell it and 2 don't - management issues - fall out etc etc. how is it held? if you well your flat- will ownership be tied up in the freehold- will someone else want to buy your flat for ?300k but not want to buy it for say ?375k inc the 1/4 share of the garage with planning consent ?

  17. Haven't we all made mistakes? I don't mean murder, but as we get older and worldlier don't we all realise we treated people badly/misinterpreted others actions? I would not make the mistakes again-but I am guilty - the list is long...

  21. We stayed here and it was clean and family run. http://eatonhotel.co.uk/ Easy to find and car parking- we managed to walk to Edgbaston from here too. We had a room at the rear and it was nice and quiet. Can absolutely NOT recommend the Marriott in Birmingham
