  1. I never wanted to be a man until I had my first period and realised that was it for the next 40 years. They are the WORST thing we have to put up- infact the main up side to being pregnant and breast feeding was absense of periods.Hmmmph.

I remember music and movement- we did it in the gym/ dining hall, it was not much fun if you had is straight after lunch - mashed potato on the floor etc etc

  18. Back in the 70's and 80's powerful men got away with things they would not do now. I think it happened in lots of industries/ sectors. These men generally had a reputation and if there was more than one woman there - and she was kind/ a feminist she would warn you- for example never to go in a room when "its just you and x" it will be your word against him etc etc. It would not be tolerated so much now, but it still happens.
  19. There were calypso songs too on the school thing- I remember bits of lyrics about rice and aki and yams- and the one about being in Quebec Stowing Timbers on the deck which I think was a Canadian song?
  20. I was at Roots and Shoots apple day yesterday and I heard the Lincolnshire poacher song. This is one of many songs we were taught at school and I realise my children don't know this or many other- Johnny Todd etc. Does anyone know are these songs taught in any schools still? is there a danger they might die out? Does anyone rememeber at primary school in the 60's when the teacher wheeled in some contraption with music on where the man ( Geoffrey Wheeler?) used to introduce the song and we had the books to sing along with? Anyone remember this?? There was a wee cooper who came from Fife Kookarurra , Once a Jolly Swagman( I know its not Old English) Greensleeves, Henry VII, Scarborough Fair..
  21. I have never had a decent electric shower. Ok for weekend guests but not for eveyday use after all those fantastic running sessions you do! The guys at Bells Lordship Lane were really helpful talking this through with me. They have plenty of brochures and Mira and Aqualisa are good makes. If you have a plumber lined up then they can advise too- we used Gary Cooper who is a recommended plumber. We had a http://www.tapoutlet.co.uk/quartz-digital-concealed-shower-mixer-with-harmony-hand-shower-gravity-systems.html for getting extra power from a normal ground floor boiler. It was for a good shower over a bath. Works very well, especially for teenagers who stand there for 10 mins.
