  1. I do no understand the post above- meal times with toddlers should be such fun- wait till you have a grunting teenager opposite you, 2 1/2 is sucha brilliant time ther language is surging ahead and they think you are a goddess-.................
  2. try a divorced couple instead- I think that would be where it all ends.
  3. bring back the dulwich steak house I say.
  4. no of course there is not! Not a power couple anyway- unless they own their own business and work together.
  5. my Mum used to do this with her teapot- never thought of this- it will get rid of staining I am sure, thanks
  6. On closer examination I find the inside of my teenage sons water bottles are pretty grubby-especially around the lids - the ones with the spouts you pull out? I have tried cotton buds and a brush but still some dark spots of something. We have loads of these comng into the hosue- and lose a lot too. ANyone got any handy hints to really clean them. (Of coure if they did not leave them half full with sports drinks in them for 2 months and hide them under theri beds it would help).
  7. he is wearing too much make up - same mistake as Jeremy Brent made.
  8. Redjam I kind of agree with you- although maybe your mum felt she was missing out on something and wished she could work? My Mum worked once we were at school- but was always there when we got home- but was forced to retire at 55 - had to live somewhere where working was not allowed and she really missed her work and friends.
  9. talullah- how old are you girl? It is the venue that determines jeans/ no jeans-.
  10. http://www.aupair-world.net/index.php/visa/uk/ This is where a lot of us get au pairs from- all good experiences so far.
  11. getting my son to drive me everywhere as his driving test is coming up - including driving us all to the pub and back several times(hic).:)-D
  12. How about a section on sports events/classes/for sale/ coaching/players? Some people will go straight to this section and some can completley ignore it!!!
  13. if you go to any of the au pair web sites they say this is the rule. of course privately you can do what you like. BUt when you think about it would you hand your baby over to an untrained person whose first language was not english and who can only do 25 hours a week and given opportunity to go to language school? Some people call themselve au pair plus which means they have experience and are a bit older check our au pair world on the internet. Some au pairs are completley abused in this country and abroad and it makes me so mad as I have had them crying in my kitchen many a time by parents using them as very cheap labour.
  14. i would see what nursery you like first and then ask. with this much notice i would have thought you would be fine. an au pair does not look after babies sole care so you would be looking at a nanny/ share, you might want to look at the costs of these options now while you have the energy!!
  15. i saw him coming out of the dry cleaners in the village a long time ago - i think it has now moved to croxted rd- his hair was jet black. you could always stake it out...........
  16. It has to be a bit fun though- doesn't it? otherwise we would all be childminders.................
  17. I think there is a lot to be said for accepting this now and familiarising yourself and partner with Kings- tour of wards etc so that it is not such a shock. Location of wc/bath /cafe/pkg/visiting hours-Good luck.
  18. is that your experience?
  19. yes she could join the hedeous queue for the london dungeon with all the other europeans............
  20. i think Primark in Bromley or Oxford street are a must - give Westfield a miss. Camden market is very popular for atmosphere. i think looking at boys may be a pasttime-is she sporty at all? the velodrome open session? or if quiet /crafty the zandra rhodes fashion/textiel museum or even the pottery cafe where you make/ bake a piece of clay. i'd ask her mum and try and organise her otherwise she may not go anywhere/ get out of bed,;-)
  21. I don't know but it is probably organic milk. Don't we all subsidise french agriculture by the EU and not our own dairy farmers? I always buy british pork products though as we rear our pigs outdoors whereas other european countries do not- especially Denmark.
  22. You have obviously never had to go to the "organically minded "grocer opposite for a pint of milk at exorbitant prices- not to mention dogfood!
  23. Future expansion Waitrose aims to extend its store presence whilst improving price perceptions and developing an integrated multi-channel offer. Waitrose opened its first smaller format convenience store in Fitzroy Street, Cambridge in summer 2010 as part of its plans to increase its presence in the UK's convenience sector. The new format stores will offer shops with sales areas ranging from 2,000-4,000 sqft. There are plans to open a total of nine convenience shops by the end of the year, including four of the newest smaller convenience shops. Bring it on I say.......
  24. I think a mini waitrose would go down really well!
  25. I totally agree- I am sure i was 17 when I saw it- I will keep looking- shame i cant find it in the library.
