  1. yes i think if you kind of made cot a threat and said that is where children sleep when they are not old enough, but when they are grown up and know to go to bed and stay there- star charts - big girl might light etc etc that should work ............my eldest did climb out when he was nearly 3 and tipped the cot over.............( he got a bed then)
  2. get the cot back. now. no need to have a bed until they are 3. they are old enough to understand that a bed is only if you stay in it all night.
  3. mmm i think maybe they will change the changing room door/curtains.....................;-)
  4. how much are you offering? i was stuck a few years ago and simply childecare suggested the only way was to pay over the odds. it worked. you could try offering cleaning on to it too for more hours - ?45 for 2-6pm sounds more attractive?
  5. check out the latest school result tables too.
  6. i think start low and if they want more they can take on chores of some kind. obviously they should do some chores anyway- but cutting grass /hedges/weeding/cleaning car are all good ones and they can start off withyou teaching them these life skills and as they take them on themselves you give thema bit extra.
  7. my 14 year old get ?10 a month.
  8. well both of mine were like this and had to build up to a nanny over a few days, just being in the house in and around us. what were you planning to happen at your wedding? was your mum or another friedn going to look after him? I would start now on familiarising them with that person asap, as you want them to be there- just being close to them with you in the vicinity. so they know you are ok with it and ar close at hand. i think if they can see you that is better than being in a different room. but you might have to put some serious groudn work in urgetnly to avoid tears on the day. I thought all children were like this - but boys might be worse- anyway they do grow out of it- but i could never leave mine in creches and had to build up a strong relationship with a friend at church to take turns at the church creche. never managed ikea/ othe shop creches.
  9. Try to make sure you are out the house ALL DAY as you might start to think after half a day that you ought to do those chorey type things ( always happens to me-). Enjoy. Make yourself gorgeous all morning- nice lunch with small amount of alcohol- a little browse of shops later on..
  10. there is one at st barnabus church/hall- maybe at greendale nowin the sea scouts hall. But it might be term time only - friday night- i think you have to join on a friday night the first time to get "in"- but if they have any interst in sport then the cycle track at burbage rd and the sailing centre at docklands - surrey quays - have in my experience got the right mix of coaching/ downtime between sessions. A tricky stage of growing up, which people tend to keep quiet about!

  13. Is it true that if we - yawn- stay up till 12.01 you can log on to ucas and see if you have your place? or is this an urban myth - or will it all go in to meltdown anyway?

  17. I would say that giving birth although very rewarding is a huge thing. Once you have had a baby I think the first 2-6 weeks you cannot lay down any rules and you hopefully will have partner/family around to concentrate on you, while you concentrate on baby. Your recovery after the birth is hugely important- as you get to grips with your bundle of joy. Do not underestimate how tired you will be and do not try and look after the house, just concentrate on your baby and yourself. After that it depends on what kind of person you are, but I do think you should not put your baby in the cot when they are asleep- always let them fall asleep in their cot.
