  1. I think the latter is called an " au pair plus " and they can actually cost even more-dep on hours- but they are ones with more expereince and you would let them look after children for more than a few hours- can be ?200. But otherwise as Duwich Mum says.
  2. Give as much as you can to others- while you can- because those first few months make it hard to give any time to anyone else. All the other things people mention you really don't need to do many now, as you are probably used to have unlimited access to each other anyway. The last month definitely do all the hairdressing beauty stuff- talk at depth about your hopes and aspirations and what you are going to do to support each other. Quiz anyone you admire as to how they managed- what little releases you can arrange. Will you try and go out together without baby for an hour when it is one month old? 2 hours when it is 2 months old. Now is the time to say these things to each other and try and make them happen, before it all washes over you. A baby is a gift, but your relationship together is also special and can suffer. Good luck,
  3. yes but are you a parent Huguenot? that is the question.
  4. Thankyou Rosie- at timely reminder for me. I will make the flapjacks for him and leave him to hopefully share them.
  5. I disagree. I went to 7 schools. Only became a wrench at 13 yrs old .Then I had a major strop- but did end up getting my own bedroom.
  6. Wow zeban- I am not destitute but I have NEVER gone out to buy a coffee-to escape. I just shut the bathroom door and run a bath. You have really made me think! ( One coffee might be cheaper than a full bath??)What does everyone else think?

  9. It is just his excuse for his inabilty to multi task. Making you feel guilty. It will only get worse. If you expect nothing of him then you will only ever be pleased. ( I have not mastered this but I do know woman that have- usually sahm's). Meanwhile I fell like you do at least 25% of hte time....................;-)
  10. i'va always used Tesco- 100% reliable. I htink it is cheaper than Sainsburys and they give you a free tabloid newspaper .
  11. I recommend you take up smoking- that will ensure you an adult only area.
  12. I have always maintained that the Dulwich Estate have a ridiculously restrictive lease. It is not commercailly viable and any attempt to intensify use has been opposed by some local residents. anyone can make a planning application - even if they do not own it. Maybe an application for social housing on the site would encourage a better use?
  13. I think sucking your thumb can distort how your teeth grow- leading to braces later. I think that is why some people like dummies?
  14. how old was the child?
  15. If you have never been to the velodrome, and have children who have not been there yet, i recommend you check it out now, and realise what their peers have had and your children will miss out on if something is not done. It it an exceptional facility that fosters safe cycling, away from cars, dogs and pedestrians.
  16. i think taking the baby for a walk for an hour and leaving her behind to have some me time, coming back with a nice cake and making her a cup of tea and piece of cake is a fab present. i wish someone had done that for me.
  17. sometimes the green scoury side of a sponge thing works- but be really careful you do not rub too much off. ( fine on woodwork)
  18. a wire across the road - raise it as they approach- and voila-
  19. dont they do some kind of test first to see if they need it ( beause of existignn immunities?) it seems like too much too soon to me.

  22. easily 100 in the summer when light in evenings after school. a lot more on race nights
  23. did yu notice if they had carpets? it is usually a condition of hte lease that they have carpets- which deaden the noise. you could then complain to the landlord etc etc but this may seem a bit heavy handed at this stage.
  24. i think the thing when you tie a hankie on your finger and make a little puppet show is perfect for these situations- but other passengers migh wonder!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
