  1. what an intervention class?
  2. From what I can see being a teacher at secondary school means teaching until Easter, revising form easter to half term and then no teaching for 6 weeks as students are on study leave.
  3. Stop it I am crying with mirth. I never got the bronze shader- maybe if I did I could have a centre parting and keep the hooter ..
  4. I sympathise- why don't boys stress? What will happen next year when they are at uni?? how will we manage without them? I will have to strtess for my 14 year old. I was too high minded to lie too- but at least I slept with a clear conscience. It is terribole they get so much study leave- a month off with 6 exams to take- all spread out. Bring on 30th June.:)-D
  5. we always found a bottle of fine ale went down well- induces sleep in Dad too.
  6. My thoughts exactly Narnia- unpaid work experience in August all well and good, but he could earn some money in September-watch this spot.
  7. i have always said "Have a good day, love you" ( in a sad American kind of way- cycling in south London makes me always want to say I love you in case something awful happens on the way to school - )
  8. If child benefit ends at the end of August, and ( hopefully) your teenager is off to uni in October, if they can't find a job in September does anyone know if they are entitled to any benefits such as child benefit or some kind of job seekers allowance? Thanks.
  9. hah - -the nose- I still have it- unchanged- but you are only allowed to take my photo at a certain angle ( it was in jackie......).;-)
  10. It is the nose/parting thing that gets me- having been told for 40 years through various womens magazines(Jackie onwards) that you should detract from a large nose by not having a middle parting, it really grates on me. ( I have had a side parting for 40 years!!!)
  11. AT 2 weeks. Both children - I could not sleep with the constant gurglings etc. A room further away with the monitor set NOT to pick up gurgling a necessity.
  12. you could be right reading the accents aloud was terrible- maybe i'll get a talking book first to suck him in.... He has never shown an interest in those graphic novels and to be honest I think it is regressive going from Mice and Men to them-but I think I may have read Wilbur Smith and Jeffery Archer books when I was 14.........I wonder how they read now??
  13. try something new- i expect there are some classes that you could try - sport/ dance yoga?
  14. we told them to get easy bus/train to tottenham hale(?) then victoria line to brixton - and to call us just before they go under ground- then you can park at halfords in brixton and pick them up from there.or you can get the 37 from brixton? we are into minimal changes with heavy bags.
  15. Funny I thought Huckleberry Finn too and it was painful to read for me. Have you read it recently ? Do you think it only ever appeals to the male of the species? I was so uncomfortable reading it our loud it was abandoned by page 10. Fussy aren't I?
  16. I really don't think you should tell them you sold it . Discretion is called for - however if you are in a position where you think they might buy you something, you could give some hefty hints to make sure that you don't get something you don't want.
  17. that is a new low. Lets stop right there!
  18. what about sniffers on the train? god i so want to offer then a paper hanky but i don't carry enough with me. gggrrrr hay fever time....
  19. i think you could snip a little bit off and put it in your baby book while you remember!
  20. There are several Dulwich's East Dulwich you have heard about. Dulwich Village- traditional area- close to good state schools until age 11 and then still good state secondary school charter- and many private schools too. Not much vibe though and more established. Good for Dulwich Park West Dulwich- this is an area with no real heart- but several shopping parades- was more popular than east dulwich with bigger gardens but has lost out in the last 10 years to east dulwich - and was more expensive.Possible better transport links depending on where you work. good for belair park and close to west norwood- North dulwich which is the area north of half moon lane - with North Dulwich station to the east and Herne Hill to the west. Again no real centre ( compared to Lordship Lane in East Dulwich) but good for transport and brockwell park.
  21. I think SJP is so unattractive and horse looking I can't bear to look at her.... Hasn't anyone told her a nose like that needs a side parting to draw attention away from it?
  22. Burtonisation. ( good one for a pub quiz). ( brewers technique of chemically changing the water of say Bury st Edmunds to make it taste/ react like the water of Burton on Trent to make the beer that used to be made in Burton on Trent taste like it does ( even though made in Bury)
  23. i don't believe it ( in the style of victor meldrew).
  24. how much did you get for the mats?? ( sorry I cant help myself )
  25. I could not forget the place mats- where are they now?
