  1. Are you getting confused with "big eejit" (big idiot)sounds a bit like bigot. I have never heard a scot say bigot affectionately.
  2. Never referred to even-although questions had to be written down in advance and handed in- may be they were all screened out.??
  3. We went and it was very good. Tessa put on a good show, and I thought the Conservative woman had a certain personal appeal - having worked her way through school/ degrees via macdonalds. I am afraid the Liberal candidate would have put a lot of people off due to slight ramblings and going over time. The Green candidate had some thought provoking points too -especially on health issues. What did everyone else think?
  4. blowing bubbles are really good- the ones with washing up liquid - then they can pop them. and swimming can tire them out a bit!!

  8. We have had 3 nannies, all lovely girls, and when one left they kind of passed up to their friends who were nannies who our children knew already. did the same sort of one o clock clubs etc. a good nanny is like gold dust- you do have to trust them though-they hate to feel snooped on. works both ways. Good luck.

  16. why would he be prosecuted? the line is to stop others blocking access to his drive.
  17. Whats this all about- blasting out at 8am this morning? First time I have heard it there. Do they usually play this?
  18. Yep I agree- but it is the principle ! He could afford it after all!
  19. For the past 20 years my now (84 year old) Dad has used a wooden ramp to put a slope between the pavement and road outside his house. He refuses to pay the money for a dropped curb.HE religiously pulls out the wooden ramp and uses it to get out the drive, then put it away, and uses it again on his return. My in laws put small concrete ramps in line with their car tyres ( about 8" wide). Aren't people funny!!
  20. ?1.50 a week at the newsagents-
  21. are we talking dry goods as opposed to brown wet ones..........???
  22. I phoned Pesh it was really expensive. My friend trained at Lambeth for half a day a week somewhere in Streatham run by local authority- and is now a florist fulltime.
  23. Isn't part of the situation due to the fact that a lot of women have received a better education in the last 40 years and so had better jobs that paid better, that in turn meant they could employ some one to look after their children while they went to work and still had some money left after paying for childcare? Some of those that had a better education and better jobs ( I mean better in that is was more technically/academically skilled this is a personal thing)prefer to still do their money earning jobs to satisfy part of themselves- this is something their mothers were less likely to experience? I speak as one who thought I would have children and stop working - like my mum- but then realized I could do some sort of work and pay childcare and have money left- albeit I had to have 4 years between children to afford the childcare costs; whilst 2 of my old nannies who now have their own families became childminders instead ( especially when they had 2 children 2 years apart). I blame it in educating women..............
  24. Colin I sympathize. I can't imagine the trolley went that far though- surely they would only take it behind a wall - rifle through the leaflets and leave it.
