  1. I called you honest, but if that offends... "the overwhelming victory of the pro-LTN councillors" and yes this does read as an unpleasant take in my eyes, considering the pain caused and I'm happy to be honest and say that. No one has been victorious in this poor, poor and sadly handled process.
  2. In the morning when there is a queue of traffic on the LL to DV direction the road painted signs are very important as is clear Zebra beacons, as pedestrians and cyclists often use this Zebra and the traffic queue sometimes gets agitated at the wait and/or doesn?t see the Zebra.
  3. There was a fatality...last year, my neighbours and both of us are still upset about it. We did ask for actions.
  4. ?Victory? ...how nice, as we will get used to more pollution and more congestion...Victory over an enemy...who are just normal residents trying to live their lives as best they can... ?victory? so the nurses, retired, teachers and care workers who have come on this thread to express their dismay at the dirty air they have to breath. Victory... how lovely indeed, not working with, consulting, brining a community together... but Victory of one neighbour against another. This is again some more honesty at last...this is the mindset...
  5. Love that site ..second only to the lightning strike site!
  6. It?s not quite up to pre-pandemic, this is mild compared to two years ago....
  7. ?the masses get used to things eventually?. I have seen this on Twitter a few times, basically saying that LTNs are great for those inside them and people on boundary roads will eventually get used to more pollution and traffic.. but at least this is the first honest pro-LTN response.
  8. Wouldn't it be lovely if they just said 'I live on a closed road, my house is now worth more and when I open my windows in the morning I no longer see, hear or smell cars, you live on a road with more congestion, so I can enjoy my gated road... and do you know what..I don't care, because my life is now much better. I'll never admit my selfishness, I'll never admit LTNs only worked for those inside them, because I really don't want my road to be opened. In order to do this I will gaslight anyone who disagrees with LTNs - I will never read their alternative ways of reducing traffic overall, I will not engage with any published data or articles about WHO levels of pollution, poverty and inequality, the health of people living on ribbon roads and boundary roads because in reality.... I don't care one iota about anybody else but me..me..me..me'
  9. It's 'the Lane' for me...but I'm still dreaming about Arabica.........mmmhhhhhh.
  10. Well Rockets is only quoting the latest from Southwark Council https://www.southwark.gov.uk/transport-and-roads/improving-our-streets/live-projects/streetspace/traffic-data-analysis So would also love to know... is it - 'traffic is above pre-Covid levels' in the Dulwich area or is it 21,000 less vehicles? Which is it? And I wonder if we will ever see pollution measurements at peak times at Charter School and the Health Centre?
  11. There is one sitting in a garden in Village Way/Half moon every morning when I walk to HH... I like to see them, but wouldn't want one in my kitchen!
  12. "Traffic has been rising across Southwark since the end of the 2021 COVID-19 lockdown, and was at 92% of pre-COVID levels in November 2021 at count points in the north of the borough, and above pre-COVID levels on the TfL network near Dulwich" - Southwark Council Dashboard. LTNs do not reduce driving, but they do create lovely quiet car storage on closed roads.
  13. What habit of mine would you wish me to change oh Large Mammal of the Sea?
  14. The 'point's do appear to lack clarity. I mean they do realise traffic can go down on one road, but increase on another? Despite all these lovely LTNs, the number of trips by walking, cycling and public transport as a proportion of all trips - is estimated at 58.3%, down 5% from 63.2% in 2019 in London.
  15. James has always responded quickly to my e-mails and apart from the one subject we disagree on and my dislike of the current Central LP, I find him a good local Councillor and I agree with the majority of his values - Congratulations James
  16. I was a LP member for years and part of the last local election's 'resource', one of things I admire is their ability to organise, bringing in activists from outside the local area. A lot of activists have left, but DAWN LP is pretty strong and they worked hard and the party machine kicked in....despite a falling membership and no money. Not sure London 'success' will extend to a majority in Parliament.
  17. I'm not drawn to Megans (humus is great...but homemade is best)- I was wishing for an independent or a Dishoom or a second branch of Arabica. Megan's seems another baby-buggy, expensive, derivative mish-mash, but an improvement on William Hill
  18. Well 8am yesterday I posted "Then some actions - the money made by Southwark to be invested in ways to encourage less car use by parents taking children to school, pressure on the private schools to make it an admission rule, more EV charging points and a local network of green buses." But I can give more if you like? But Medact is the organisation I support and I would advocate their solutions. https://stat.medact.org/uploads/2021/04/The-public-health-case-for-a-Green-New-Deal-MEDACT-April-2021.pdf
  19. Ahh Sea-Cow the originator of the poooooooo analogy. So are we supporting pollution monitoring and WHO levels of air quality for all roads in ED or not?
  20. The dog poo analogy is quite a good one. So all the people living on Melbourne Grove can own dogs and on Calton and Gilkes two or three dogs. They can the dump their dog poo on my road so their road is clean. Yes I see..that's a great idea. The amount of poo is the same ..but its all on my road. Got it. Thanks.
  21. Constructive progress - Southwark should make it their aim to monitor pollution on the most polluted roads and make all effort now to reduce it to be below WHO health guidelines. Anyone unhappy with that? Is that "using air quality as a weapon to justify (my) belief' Where is the pollution data for EDG? Ot are those on closed roads satisfied with the current status?
  22. So people living on Croxted and EDG - they shouldn't complain about pollution levels and they are using air quality as a weapon to justify their beliefs. Well - the art of any sensible discussion on this subject is now truly over.
  23. Not sure 'communication' is an issue, I think enough has been said about theories and modelling. I think what I would like is very clear pollution monitoring on roads that have high use in terms of people living/working/ and travelling actively and school rds - that are 'problem' rds, so we can measure peak levels daily and the long-term levels over a period of time. Also noise pollution and congestion/idling traffic should be monitored and collected. Then some actions - the money made by Southwark to be invested in ways to encourage less car use by parents taking children to school, pressure on the private schools to make it an admission rule, more EV charging points and a local network of green buses.
  24. I think there is middle ground, in an area with high PTAL and no private schools with wide catchment area (which seems to encourage parents to drive to JAGs/Alleyns to drop off one child and use EDG as a car-park in the evening), LTNs in consultation with the affected roads may offer solutions that do make roads safer and areas that have benefit created, without detriment to others. There also needs to be a wider scheme so one borough doesn't push traffic into another (Croxted Rd). This just isn't the case in Dulwich ED - poorly planned, implemented and roads chosen due to individual street pressure groups and this has caused upset, mistrust and rather ruined a once very cohesive community on all 'sides'... in that way maybe a bit like Brexit?
