  1. They also have fast electric trams. I have always thought the comparison of Amsterdam to London by some authors is a bit of a stretch for a variety of variables. The LibDems thought about Trams, considering LL and Dog Kennel Hill both used to have Trams, I can't see a valid reason not to re-introduce. Although cycling has increased gradually over the last 10 years (LTNs really haven't made any difference if you consider the background increase and the blip during hard lockdown) - the pressure should be excellent public transport. I think the issue is that Southwark/Lambeth cosied up to LCC and Sustrans and certain researchers - all of whom appear to have a very weird dislike of buses, trams and trains and think everyone is a fit and healthy soon to be born again cyclist. Maybe....just maybe....not everyone wants to cycle? It's like pushing a fervent religion. Offer excellent cheap alternatives to driving Make cycling and walking safe If I have to pay ?600 for 4 of us to visit friends by train in Devon....and the train is awful, with very poor links either end, so I have to then pay ?60 for a taxi. I'm going to drive.
  2. Remove all parking from Melbourne at the school end and make the road into a grassy area as a street park for all in the local community. No trees in the middle so LAS and Fire still have access.
  3. And I think priority bus lanes and walking routes...as a percentage most people walk or take public transport. Maybe lots and lots of empty cycle lanes during the day are not the complete answer, despite LCC being one of the main lobby groups for LTNs. I think Calton and Melbourne would be great local mini- bus routes plus a cycle lane on one side, connecting to an elevated shared walking cycle route on ED Grove with one way for cars and a dedicated bus lane.
  4. 2. Remove parking on East Dulwich Grove and replace with a proper cycle lane - yes I agree for the section from Melbourne to Townley, the back of the Dutch Estate is under-used, so ED Grove residents could access and use if they own a car and maybe restrict to one side at the the far ends to one side. Otherwise parking might become an issue on Melbourne etc. as EDG residents try and park on these roads. I think if roads like Calton/Gilkes have garages, drives and street parking, it does seem a little unfair to have parking for multiple cars for the wealthiest in the borough and no access to parking for less well-off....It is an interesting conversation though - the 'right' to park and the 'right' to drive. Although I agree with road pricing, one can see that the poorer one is the less access to anything increases..
  5. Creative solutions 1. Efficient cheap green local transport (PTAL Dulwich very poor) 2. Reduction in council tax for anyone with no car or one car, increase if two cars 3. Road tax 4. Council 'taxi' service for anyone with mobility issues 5. Policing of parents parking in no parking zones to drop off and pick up kids from schools (rife on ED Grove - idling cars every afternoon) 6. Open up all roads - stop road parking on at least one side of all roads and add an elevated cycling lane 7. Private Schools insist children must come by PT or school coach
  6. And if you look at a gated road..they are full of parked cars - nice Ferrari, a Maserati and a few other nice cars on Calton.. car storage for the wealthy...hardly reducing car use.
  7. Actually not my view - but I copied and pasted the view of the Chair Campaign for Better Transport and the UK Noise Association and the Vice President of the UECNA.
  8. The concept of LTNs is shameful. There are few, if any, traffic measures I can think of which so cynically push traffic on to other streets so some areas can benefit.
  9. Newsletter.
  10. If fake news is a loving and supportive mother, concerned about bringing her child up in a state that encourages people to vilify and demean her child then bring on that fake news matey. The last person I remember running around screeching 'fake news' 'fake news' was a certain USA president. People are just people - gender is a social construct and sex is a lottery, it's just stupid, thoughtless DNA trying to replicate itself using us as walking sacks of code. I don't care what you call yourself, where you take a piss, or what you do or don't have hanging between your legs - as long as you are nice to me and others. So much hatred on this thread. I'm out.
  11. Confirmed...by whom? Do you believe them?
  12. Nope - all the ATC data is available - just go to maps- 2016 to Sept 2021. Shows where ALL ATCs are and actual counts. Also shows the ones that stopped recording. Just go and look for yourself. It's patchy - you are correct - but this is because they have only recorded data on those dates. There IS no other data. That is why they have had to model and make assumptions. Now - are they going to model and make assumptions that proves spending all that money hasn't actually worked.....just before an election? Are they going to say that their data collection is inadequate....just before an election. What if LTNs have increased traffic, have increased pollution, have increased bus journey time, haven't made any difference to numbers walking and cycling locally- would you be pleased they spent this money? would you be pleased they published 'facts' that are not true, would you be pleased they have caused division and pitted neighbour against neighbour... I think many living in their gated roads wouldn't even care..nice quiet road, a rise in house price and can still drive one of their cars, maybe the BMW or Range Rover on polluted roads, while maintaining a holier than thou support of a failed, greenwashing project.
  13. The ATC data is available, although frustratingly, you do have to go onto the map site, find the ATC's then go into individual folders and then find the actual counts yourself. Quite why Southwark has not tabulated all this data in a simple excel spreadsheet is up for interpretation. As the ACTUAL counts do not appear to fit into Southwark's publicised message that traffic has reduced on boundary roads - I can only assume that if data is easily accessible then residents would clearly see the massive holes in Southwark's published 'facts'. It would also be great for them to explain how they modelled some of the figures and why they made certain assumptions. ALSO - where is the data showing the peak levels of NOx and PM - the trigger for Ella's fatal asthma attack was a particularly high peak level of pollutants. One only needs a hot sunny day and high NOx and PM to set off a young child's asthma attack while walking past idling traffic on ED Grove - do Southwark actually give a s**t about the health of our CYP living and walking/cycling on Croxted, LL, Grove Vale and ED Grove?
  14. Circular walk Fulking/Devils Dyke/ The Shepherd and Dog https://www.nationaltrust.org.uk/devils-dyke/trails/walk-on-fulking
  15. "It has a count in 2019. It also has counts for East and West and turning data. So it has accurate data for that section both before and after the implementation of the LTN. I suggest that anyone interested in the data simply looks for themselves." Nope 4 counts and all from 2021 - I'm afraid you are either looking at the wrong ATC or are relying on the table that Southwark published. The ED Grove Central outside of the Heart Centre has data as below and no other. 16. Now let's look at 2019 data from the one ATC that was recording in 2019 - EDG -6 combining East and West traffic this counter recorded 8961. This is a REAL count. So if we minus this REAL count in 2019 from the 2021 REAL count - we have 13681 - 8961, that is 4760 more vehicles a day an increase of around 35%.
  17. Well done Rahx3 for reposting exactly what I posted before - as you can see the ED Grove Central ATC has 4 counts on the 6th, 13th, 20th and 27th Sept 2021 and none in the period from 2016 up until those counts. As I said a new ATC from 2021, so the pre-LTN data is modelled.
  18. Btw, the data for pollution was modelled and traffic counts for ED Grove Central pre- LTN was modelled data. "A model set-up for 2019 was modified to include traffic and emissions data for 2021 (based on June 2021 traffic data), to provide an estimate of the current air quality impact of the scheme. The model set-up was based on recent modelling for LTN assessments in the neighbouring borough of Lambeth. Due to project timescales, the model set-up was not verified against local monitoring, however comparison against monitoring data will follow, in order to inform the uncertainty in the conclusions of the assessment" From Dulwich Streetspace report. This figure 14214 for ED Central Sept 19 is 'modelled' on a measure taken 8 months earlier in Jan 19 and the Council says this ATC is new for 2021 - the data point measure from the actual ATC only has one measure in Sept 2021, so it is a mystery how a non-existent ATC even measured Jan 19 traffic count of 11832 - 2382 vehicles a day added to a dubious count. Also why are they using Sept 2021? This was during the fuel crisis when driving patterns were abnormal. Where is the ED Grove peak time pollution data?
  19. During Covid - many of my colleagues were in full..and quite frightening PPE, they would write their names across their chest and who they were with a large black pen, so relatives, patients and other staff knew who they were, as they all looked like astronauts. I would say - if you knew these people and the utter exhaustion felt by many wearing full PPE, which feels as though you are in a sauna and working 9 hour shifts - you might forgive the occasional slip up of not introducing themselves. Many have left - they used to be clapped by the public, but that did not translate into any real help from the Government, who are now funding diagnostic hubs.....but have not given any extra funding to employ and train new staff. So the staff that are left are even more overworked than before, even I am asked to return to clinical work...so they must be desperate!
  20. 'Hello my name is' has been actively and positively introduced by almost all NHS Trusts for over 10 years - staff have a name badge pass, but also a large yellow badge with their first name - which is specifically for patients. They are also taught in their induction to 1. Introduce themselves, 2. Explain what they are going to do and 3. Gain verbal consent. Private contractors and privately run GP services may or may not be part of the scheme. For example Omnes Healthcare If you do feel mistreated or have a complaint, compliment or suggestion when treated or visiting an NHS run service - please contact PALs or write to the dept. manager. All complaints have to be answered in a timely manner according to NHS Trust terms and values. If you are unsatisfied with how any complaint is dealt with, then escalate to NHS England. Here are the NHS Values on every person's contract within the NHS The values So what are the values? There are six values that all staff ? everyone from porters, physiotherapists, nurses, paramedics and gardeners to secretaries, consultants, healthcare scientists and phlebotomists ? are expected to demonstrate: -working together for patients. Patients come first in everything we do -respect and dignity. We value every person ? whether patient, their families or carers, or staff ? as an individual, --respect their aspirations and commitments in life, and seek to understand their priorities, needs, abilities and limits -commitment to quality of care. We earn the trust placed in us by insisting on quality and striving to get the basics of quality of care ? safety, effectiveness and patient experience right every time -compassion. We ensure that compassion is central to the care we provide and respond with humanity and kindness to each person?s pain, distress, anxiety or need -improving lives. We strive to improve health and wellbeing and people?s experiences of the NHS -everyone counts. We maximise our resources for the benefit of the whole community, and make sure nobody is excluded, discriminated against or left behind.
  21. It only needs to be measured at peak times when hundreds of CYP are walking to school down ED Grove past idling traffic. It would not be expensive and Southwark could spend some of the money from fines - they seen to have accrued a lot. The question is why doesn't everyone on this thread want to see the NOx and PM levels all these children are breathing in 5 days a week? Knowing the developmental effects on heart, lungs and brain tissue....wouldn't you want to know?
  22. "Do you see a small shipping sized container construction on EDG? Because this is what a pollution monitor looks like, they cost hundreds of thousands to buy and tens/hundreds of thousands to run each year ... that's why there are only a handful in southwark, because pollution figures can be accurately extrapolated from traffic volumes." I know exactly where all the ATCs are on ED Grove by sight and by inspecting the raw data sets, I even know that dates that measurements were taken by scrutinising the data. Traffic counts do not equate to pollution levels as idling and slow moving traffic can produce up to twice as many exhaust emissions as an engine in motion. Therefore 20 fast moving vehicles will produce about half the amount of idling engines. Southwark promised that pollution levels would be monitored on ED Grove and the data published.
  23. And back to LTNs.. does anyone know when Southwark will release any data on pollution levels (NOx and PM) - although the Mayor has answered a question about ED Grove pollution monitors, by indicating there is no direct monitoring on ED Grove - can this be confirmed?
  24. London Assembly - questions to the Mayor What have been the NO2 levels of East Dulwich Grove for every month since January 2019? Answer Dulwich Village Junction LTN (4) Answered By: The Mayor Date: Tuesday, 25th January 2022 The London Borough of Southwark monitors nitrogen dioxide by diffusion tube at two sites in the vicinity of East Dulwich Grove ? SD10 at 2 Village Way and SD152 on Townley Road. 2021 data has not yet been reported. All of Southwark?s air quality monitoring results are available on their website https://www.southwark.gov.uk/environment/air-quality/air-quality-monitoring-data So NOx is not being measured on ED Grove by Southwark and 2021 data has not been released?
