  1. Thanks for messages- I should have specified, I?m looking for something in the UK Still looking!
  2. Anyone got some kind of caravan on the coast or cottage somewhere nice that they want to let to a family during October half term? Anything and anywhere considered!
  3. Well done lilaclou! Great when people take action
  4. Am I understanding this correctly? This poor person has had her teeth kicked out and no police officer has been allocated for 8 days? What the h*ll? This is GBH with intent and police aren?t responding? So sorry this has happened Patricia Allen, you will understandably feel very traumatised. I hope you have loved ones caring for you.
  5. Anyone got a holiday home or caravan that is free between tomorrow (Thurs 5th Sept) until Weds next week....just for a few days away? Or in Europe even (if I can get flights)
  6. Ok you?ve made your view known about the businesses surrounding Rye Lane What?s wrong with Rye Lane though?
  7. ?The problem with trying to weaponize female hysteria is that female hysteria is not a very good weapon? As soon as you used these words Charles Martel, you immediately had nothing of value to be heard Yuk, you make me feel icky
  8. But you?ve not answered the question? What?s wrong with these places on Rye Lane and what makes them not accessible to all? Rye Lane has so far retained a lot of long-standing character and so continued to cater for local communities (which is your understandable and very well trodden gripe against gentrification).....but still not right?
  9. Thanks for suggestions! I?ll give all a go 👍
  10. Yeah but Primark, Iceland, ASDA, the great Chinese supermarket, sports shops, Superdrug, Argos, fruit/ veg stalls, Peacocks, butchers, various African food shops, the kebab place I forget the name of, nail bars, hair dressers. Specsavers, Costa.....the list goes on....and most of these I like and use. Loutwo what?s wrong with these place on RYE LANE (not the rest of Peckham) and why are they not accessible to all? Are some working classes more working class than others by any chance?! I?d hate to think you harbour views that you have to be the ?right? type of working class
  11. Wow, I'm completely surprised by your responses Loutwo! I almost posted to say "Go Loutwo, now is your chance! Defend Rye Lane which is a high street that has largely avoided gentrification". I was genuinely waiting for you to steam in, guns blazing, supporting what is clearly a less middle class high street that has largely remained unchanged, fully catering for the local working classes. Alas no. So Lordship is too gentrified Rye Lane not gentrified enough I wonder.....
  12. When you say ?placed?.....is it plugged into a phone socket? Or does it just hang out, un-attached, all independent like?! When I was with Sky, I called them about the same issue and they went through the usual checks then said the only thing I could do is get a longer wire for the WiFi router and move it even closer to the tv.....which was not possible for me to do. I wonder why they didn?t just tell me to get a booster?
  13. See now Bob Buzzard, that?s the kind of kit I saw on Amazon.....but then I confused myself. I was thinking do I really need to extend the signal, as opposed to make it stronger? The flat is real small and hardly any distance between WiFi box and Tv. Please un-confuse me!
  14. Despite it being a tiny flat, WiFi signal is rubbish in the next room. My Netflix keeps buffering! Can I buy something to improve signal strength? I?m fed up with changing the WiFi channel to find a less busy one
  15. JohnL good you are ok and still have your phone- shame your pint didn't go over him! Thanks for raising awareness too. It's nice to sit in the window of John Unicorn and enjoy a drink in the sun. Same can be said for Meatliquor on Lordship. I hadn't thought about the potential for belongings to be snatched and of course this is just as likely on Lordship as it is on Rye Lane. I love Peckham and Rye Lane. Has been less pleasant with the recent major road works but otherwise it's a bustling high street that has so far avoided gentrification (not that I'm cussing out Lordship.....there is space for both and diversity is a positive thing). I particularly like Rye Lane on a Sunday when people are out in their national dress for church and there can be singing and gospel music heard. I'll say it again- I welcome diversity.
  16. Oh please do tell me more........! diable rouge Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > La Ciotat SE of Marseille is worth checking out, > nice port and beaches, some very secluded. > If you are of a nervous disposition avoid the > 'libertines' beaches of Cap d'Agde...:)
  17. Where should I head to for nice beaches etc? I'm going to be in France and want to head to that region for a few beachy days. Lazy days at the beach, swimming in the sea, eating at some nice little restaurants. That kind of thing. Nothing glitzy like Cannes or St Tropez! Anyone know the area and can recommend a good area to stay? I was thinking of maybe getting an AirBnB Thanks!
  18. As long as people use the usual common sense around foods and bacteria then it's fine The damage to our planet is far more alarming and risky
  19. Thanks all for your input The Gardens and Forest Hill rd are outside the catchment area unfortunately. Looks like I need one that serves SE15..... which 306 Medical Centre does, thank-you gumshoe. Good to know about repeat prescriptions
  20. Thank you carlafindle, that?s helpful. I wonder if a specific doctor can be requested when registering at a practice?
  21. I read plenty of bad reviews on here about NHS GP surgeries. Are there any good ones that serve SE15/SE22 area? Extra points if the practice is known to managed chronic health/ pain conditions well. And bonus points if the practice (or particular GP) also works well alongside specialists within private practice. I say this because, in my experience, it can be frustratingly difficult to get NHS and private medical professionals to communicate with each other!
  22. This is such a great post! I?ve been wondering what the solution is for plastic take-away containers for ages. I re-use them and they are very useful.....but I just have too many now. I wish they could go somewhere to be sterilised and used again. Or better still, plastics not used for take aways at all. Are the old fashioned foil tubs any better for the world? Anyone know?
  23. Isn't this thread a year old?
  24. Calling someone a slang word for a paedophile because they support a one day school fundraiser a bit extreme no? Ronnijade Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I?m working class for one, don?t put me in the > same category as the majority of the ED mob LMAO. > @#$%& off you soul sucking nonce. xxx
  25. So having given it a wriggle around, it worked for a bit then stopped again. I now see a wire has come out. I?m thinking my attempt could go as far as turning off the electricity at the mains, then seeing if I can re screw the wire where it came from. I can see it really is a very simple job for someone who hasn?t watched too many episodes of Casualty!
