  1. I agree- ?14.50 was enough to turn me away last week
  2. Happens in my house too- weirdly I notice it more in the bedroom at the back of the house (so off the road). Shakes the bed! Luckily my road has a lot less buses than Lordship......otherwise it would be dreadful!
  3. Excellent apology DF. It takes strength of character to acknowledge a mistake Plus typing the word "sorry" in addition to your long posts would have taken effort when you have clearly been unwell (sounds rough btw) Respect to you sir
  4. Phoenix is dreadful- I avoid it at all costs. Which is a shame because if in the local area and using the station then it's the most convenient. It still gets plenty of business on a weekday/ Friday with the after work crowd but this tends to only last a couple of hours
  5. Mental ill health and violent behaviour is not intrinsically nor statistically linked. A VERY small percentage of people who commit violent acts have mental health difficulties. The research around this is extensive. What research and analysis does show is that people with mental health difficulties are more vulnerable and at risk of violence being perpetrated against them than your average person. Studies also discuss how the common public perception and tendency to link violent crime to mental health is partly born out of repeated inflammatory media coverage, and also because when there are "random acts of violence" people are very disturbed and distressed by it and therefore seek to find an explanation that would make it feel less random....... because when things are random then they feel out of our control and have no reason and therefore not preventable and could happen to ourselves. I agree that speculation will not help anything at all with this case and so I'm not entering into it. But I feel strongly that it is important to counteract misunderstandings and misperceptions so they are hopefully not continued. This poor man, his friends and family- how tragic. Also for the shopkeepers who were witnesses.....and for the Lordship Lane community in general. So awful.
  6. Personally I often find Pad Thai kinda bland- it's like the comfort food of Thailand! I ordered it from Thai Corner and put 3/4 of it in the bin- it was yuk. The pad thai I've had from Matoom hasn't exactly been light (as I say, I'm not sure it's meant to be), but it certainly had freshness to it, including crunch and fresh herbs. I've eaten dim sum countless times at Dragon Castle- not bad at all
  7. I agree there are certainly other influences (a bit like I've often found in Thailand)..... I would still recommend giving them a go though. I've found them to be refreshingly good! fishbiscuits Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Looked at the menu online for Matoom. 8. Lux Thai- beyond dreadful Thai Corner- the usual bog standard.....but have had 2 deliveries that have been inedible about a year ago so no more It's out of ED (just) so I'm probably not allowed to mention it but I've had a number of deliveries from the newish Matoom in Forest Hill and found it fresh, tasty and well above the normal standard. I kinda don't want to advertise it in case it goes down hill! Would love for Mr L pick up standards but I don't feel hugely optimistic. And yeah, I agree there's not a lot clean about Chinatown!
  9. And risk being hit, beeped at and generally harassed by the vehicle that sweeps around to try to overtake you as cars own the road...... Of course people with child carriers need to be safety conscious....... and drivers need to let go of the notion that they have priority on the road Asset Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Don't ride close to car doors - 'the width of a > door and a little bit more'
  10. I probably wouldn't respond- feels too judgy
  11. Any experiences of using a private donor?
  12. Party on Saturday night before Christmas AND on NYE? Outrageous
  13. I don't want to speak for the OP here, but son may be young or felt unsure what to do. Things also happen very fast and so may not be able to give a helpful description
  14. klh this is awful for you. You might consider getting some legal advice on this? If other people have sustained injuries then there is a good chance the council have already been advised of the risks. You have broken your ankle which is a significant injury......the fall being all the more concerning when pregnant. Liability?
  15. Hey Malarkey, a bit off topic but saw your post and thought you might be interested in my friend?s Yiddish slogan clothing and accessories online business! http://www.chickensouplondon.com/about-us Insta: chickensouplondon 😊
  16. Yep same- guy last week emptied the meat aisle in M&S on Lordship into his bag and walked out
  17. I think it is Admin's remit to police what happens on this forum when there have been threatening and verbally aggressive PMs....not to mention repeated posts about the same thing. Posts have been deleted and users banned for a lot less. I'm pleased some people are "obsessive" about calling out continued intimidation
  18. Just checking what makes you so sure it was food poisoning both times (very, very unlucky)? Food poisoning and stomach bug are commonly confused and, as far as I'm aware, tested via a sample. Norovirus is doing the rounds again.....very contagious and comes on very similarly to food poisoning.
  19. Franklins Next Door Moxons fish restaurant Terroirs In that order Oh the romance!
  20. His public posts and private messages demonstrated verbal intimidation, verbal threats, pejorative terms and a bullying, harassing and inflammatory approach. I'm glad that the interactions and posts continued because it helped highlight his character......and also forum users have collectively called out this behaviour. I hope the woman involved is ok and feels supported.
  21. Oh yay..... I've joined the private message gang
  22. Go guys! Guys as in collective of people as opposed to men.... I don't know your gender! Way to call out a bully and support a lone woman who felt intimidated. Yay EDF!
  23. Any advice on how cases of harassment can be most effectively managed? This includes: recommendations for good legal firms/lawyers, time taken for proceedings, likely cost, any other issue to consider.
  24. Why are people being such a*ses on this thread?
  25. Boi-ing by Benefit for me! I was advised that it's not effective to use a lightener/ highlighter like YSL Touche as it won't cover dark circles......in fact they can amplify it. The trick is actually to go a slightly darker shade rather than lighter. I therefore have used Boi-ing No 2 for years and find it very effective. That said, I'm now reading lots of support for Lauren Mercier which makes me tempted to try.....
