Thanks everyone! The whole spectrum between confidence and alarm has been demonstrated for me here! The answer seems to lie somewhere between great success and certain death Adulting is well hard

So the main light in my living room has stopped working. Tried 2 bulbs, no joy. Maybe the occasional flicker. The wires look a bit dangly (that's my professional term for it). Is this easily sortable or do I need to call out an electrician? I'd like to have a go myself but I'm a bit afraid of electricity........is this warranted in this case? Or could a handy man do the job?

More black cabs will come this way now. Back in the day it was best to tell a black cab driver something like "just past Oval".......and then extend it once there

Thanks kiera, I didn't know that about olive oil and birds, good to know. Sainsburys is already on my boycott list due to being the worst offenders for plastics

Great post Sue! Yes, great quality olive oil is so delicious and streets ahead of any supermarket stuff I have found......although of course that is what I tend to use for price and convenience. I keep wandering down Northcross Rd market on a Saturday hoping to see olive oil but so far have only seen chilli sauces. Maybe the Horniman market?

Mugged last night on Spurling Road

If there is "no need to mention colour or races"......why do you keep mentioning colour or races in your post? Assaults and muggings are dreadful and traumatic- the person's skin or country of origin is not relevant unless it is a descriptor for the police to identify them Quality bargains Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I?m afraid it will happen to anyone , mostly > people that can?t defend themselves like elderly > or women with kids, my mum was robbed broad > daylight by a young black kid and when I stated > this I was told I was a racist , and rite now let > me mention that I am using my friends account to > write this so if anyone is upset about anything I > say then just bare that in mind please > Anyway after being robbed my mum suffered a stroke > and she did not even know who I was on and off for > a couple days , yh my mum suffers from high blood > pressure what contributes to it but and the end of > the day my mum is not the same and she will never > be the same again , that happened 2 year ago > outside old Iceland > And only last week I was leaving a friends house > on waghorn st at about 1.30am I had my dog with me > she was off the lead just wondering as she does , > anyways some black African guy in he?s 20s wearing > grey shorts and blue hoodie was walking towards me > from a distance and he turned of around the corner > , so I thought he went about he?s business, but as > I turned the corner he sort of jogged towards me > and pulled out a big fantasy looking weapon with > jagged edges and spikes sticking out all over the > gaff big handle and then my dog turned the corner > and he froze and was just looking past me , like > through me sort of thing like he had no intention > or something , I asked him if he was ok and he > just nodded and I kept looking at he?s hands and > it was only then that I could confirm 100% what he > had in he?s hands , I called my dog close by and > walked with her in the middle of the road as I > wanted space around me to feel safe as doing this > he just sprinted off > It?s constant , people will get robbed today > tomorrow and the next day , as a matter a fact I > bet someone is getting robbed rite this second > within the se15 post code > Atleast a couple standings a week etc > No need to mention colours or races > Be safe and do what u got to do -
Gala festival in Peckham Rye park
binkylilyput replied to DoctorM's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
True that We live in a very big capital city 2 days noise out of 365 isn't bad at all If measures can be taken to reduce it a little next year then great but I suspect people will always complain if the event isn't to their liking I wonder what would happen if it were classical music or a jazz festival? girlelectric Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > You would think that the people complaining here > have never been to an event in London in their > lives. Gala festival in Peckham Rye park
binkylilyput replied to DoctorM's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Here you go DoctorM the fun Doc......there are still tickets (it's just the Gala sold out as already pointed out) https://www.jamonryefestival.com/tickets Or if you are a resident then you can get free tickets by emailing [email protected] Give it a go. Maybe help you to stop being such a Debbie Downer Alternatively maybe wander around being grumpy in a different part of the park given that the majority of it isn't involved?! DoctorM Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > so, no one else things that the closing of this > public space for 12 days in the interests of a 2 > day private event is questionable? No. It's a small proportion of the park and it's being well used and very popular. A limited part of the park for a little over one week of the whole year. Can you not support a great event (even if it's not your cup of tea) and stop whinging? -
Gala festival in Peckham Rye park

There is plenty of space. Takes a lot of organising and set up I imagine Great to learn that the tickets have been a sell out too. I thought the early bird/ pre- sale prices of ?25/?30 was very reasonable for a 2 day event. Even at full price ?60 it's a good 2 days of entertainment. Hope it's a wonderful, sunny success! -
If it's that bad then it isn't good for staff wellbeing

Attempted mugging Lordship Lane (01 May, 2019)

Hooray! Ok so I'm not normally much in favour of chains....... but Superdrug does more affordable and wider range of toiletries than the pharmacies and supermarkets :-)

Forest Hill Road Surgery - again.
binkylilyput replied to George Orwell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thanks George O. Unfortunately I spent 6 months seeing a student at the BSO (and had a few different supervisors join) but it really didn't get me anywhere. I have paid privately to see a range of professionals (chiro, osteo, acupuncture, massage) in order to resolve the issue for myself and avoid NHS waiting times and patchy service. Me going to see a GP is because I've run out of solutions and can't afford to keep shelling out for expensive treatment. -
Forest Hill Road Surgery - again.
binkylilyput replied to George Orwell's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I need to get a non urgent GP appointment regarding chronic, unresolved back pain...... who at this surgery should I see and who should I avoid?! I realise this makes me sound more than a bit entitled but I have chronic back pain and after 2 years of paying to see various practitioners privately to try to resolve the issue, I need a GP who will take me seriously and make appropriate referrals for further investigation and treatment. The last GP I saw here (unrelated issue) I did not find helpful at all and was quite upset by her manner. Recommendations or avoids?
