  1. Great news. She was gone quite some time so this is good news indeed. There was so much support and action taken locally to raise awareness- well done for caring SE Londoners! (I've amended the subject to reflect this)
  2. I've seen a bunch of articles online and lots of twitter posts from concerned family, friends and locals. I know nothing more than what has been made public. The circumstances seem very concerning. It's good to see the local area has been pro-active in trying to help as there are posters up all over.
  3. Lots of signs up in the area, including East Dulwich. https://www.southwarknews.co.uk/news/missing-alice-king-was-a-devoted-mum-of-two-boys-family-are-desperate-for-news/
  4. uncleglen is winning this discussion by miles! :-)
  5. Really helpful rendelharris, thank-you. I could easily lock my bag to my bike, I hadn't thought of that. Bit concerned that in the event of someone trying to snatch my bag this would make it more likely that I'd be pulled off my bike...... but pros and cons I guess.
  6. I won't comment on the particular restaurant/ individual in question but yes, pubs/ restaurants are well known for this kind of thing. What might seem like a small amount of money (one or two shifts), soon adds up if they do it often enough. Often staff don't have proper contracts, aren't given p60s etc. They rely on staff often being quite young and perhaps less inclined to go down formal channels to address pay disputes. Plus even popular seeming establishments are struggling financially these days. Keep records of everything Neila and seek advice, write formal letters etc where you can. They won't want their payrolls scrutinised.
  7. Similar thing happened to me a few weeks back on the Brockley Rise/ Honor Oak junction at about 6pm. I was waiting to cross at the traffic lights. Group of lads on mopeds and quad, scarves over face etc. Revving their engines and excitedly talking about having mine or other bags. A lady on the opposite side of the road looked at me when it was time to cross in front of them as we were both clearly concerned about what was going to happen. I did cross in front of them and then scooted around the corner and put my bag behind me to the wall until they went off. I probably shouldn't have risked crossing but I really didn't want to be intimidated by them. The posts about cycling does make me concerned about my pannier bag now......any more tips on what can be done to stay safer? Clip the pannier bag on the inside nearest the pavement rather than on the right? Anyone know of any alarms that easily attach to the handle bars?
  8. vox don't gossip about local incidents in the local gossip section of this forum
  9. A friend has cut out dairy which has helped baby reflux?
  10. Don't be put off by the look of Camberwell clinic.....it's a bit no frills! Personally I like joining the drop in queue at 8.45am with the youths but not everyone would. For an IUD it's by appointment only I imagine but they will advise you if you call
  11. Personally I'd say always go to a sexual health clinic- this is their job, they do it all of the time and I find them more skilled. I've had excellent service at Camberwell Sexual Health clinic every time I've been
  12. Let the council know about any rubbish issues.......otherwise leave them be
  13. I somewhat disagree. Plastics are everyone's responsibility, both on an individual level and certainly on a large scale business level. Water bottles do not need to be given away, they really don't.....this is advertising not altruism.
  14. I always refill my plastic bottles if I have them.......for weeks and weeks on end! And wash them too. I'm not afraid of bacteria......it's scaremongering b*llox as far as I'm concerned. Everything has bacteria..... including plastic beakers, mugs, cups etc. I'm far more concerned about the environment than some clap trap about bacteria. I try to avoid plastic bottles wherever I can but, when I purchase one, I use it over and over. As for marketing tactics with bottled water, I do agree it's not great. I would have totally appreciated a bottle of water given to me I'm sure......but still not acceptable in this day an age. At the very least they could have a big, fat stamp on it saying "please re-cycle"......and the folk handing out the bottles could also remind people to re-cycle/ re-use.
  15. Yep, it does seem a solicitor is the way to go and I?ve been recommended some good ones! Now I?m deciding to go with a 2 year or 5 year fixed interest rate. Have been weighing up the pros and cons- there isn?t much difference in monthly repayments. I know 2 years has been the norm but I?m reading a lot about how 5 year is now a better bet. Something about interests rates looking like they?ll rise over coming years? Possibly even related to Brexit. Anyone have a view or good knowledge of this? Thanks everyone for your ongoing suggestions on this!
  16. So next question......someone suggested to me that I use a Conveyancer rather than a Solicitor as they are cheaper! Does this make sense? This property buying malarkey is complex isn't it?!
  17. Ah this is interesting, thanks! I'd heard that some brokers have access to mortgage rates no otherwise available publically. But then I also read articles on the internet (the source of all truth)suggesting going to a broker that doesn't charge a fee.......because they get paid also by the lenders? Would this then mean that a broker who doesn't charge fees will have a more limited range of recommendations for mortgages as they are likely to be biased in favour of recommending a lender that they have an agreement with? Or maybe I am totally misunderstanding this whole process?!
  18. Welcome stupac999, great to see you getting involved in the moaning on this forum. Are you job hunting? :-)
  19. First time buyer Did you get a mortgage broker? How much did they charge you? Would you recommend them? Did they save you a heap of cash?
  20. Aria has been to my house for small jobs a few times- efficient, polite and reasonable price :-)
  21. Assuming this is sarcasm how is selling an animal unethical? If the seller is making reasonable efforts to see that they go to a good home then buying and selling of animals is normal no? jonah Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > selling kittens wow so ethical
  22. Sounds like flocker spotter is more knowledgeable than the police that advised the OP and so best listen to their opinion and not the local law enforcers that have both an overview and in depth record of crime etc if I were you Localresident2016......

Is this a verified test of whether someone has issues with alcohol consumption?! With this conclusive test and sound advice you should set up a clinic Ms Blueberry. You've managed to do here what professionals take years to train in and takes hours of comprehensive assessment, monitoring, psychological practice and support to help people with. And it was food poisoning! Who knew it was this easy? Someone should tell the NHS
  24. I've seen the Love Walk white Squirrel! Boris the white squirrel from Camberwell: https://www.standard.co.uk/news/london/fresh-sightings-of-white-squirrel-in-camberwell-fuel-rumours-boris-bred-before-his-death-a3124201.html
