  1. This is a little similar to Blackburn coming to Anfield in the mid-nineties to win title ahead of United. I remember on that occasion many people at Anfield were hoping Blackburn would win and there were some cheers when Shearer scored - but as the game developed Liverpool got stronger and by the end most wanted Liverpool to win (whilst hoping WHU would hold on at Upton Pk).
  2. Narnia Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Will Chelsea win at Liverpool? > > Head to Head > > I'm looking for a pattern..........can anyone see > it? Firstly Liverpool have a match on Thursday night against Atletico Madrid so come Sunday lunchtime who knows what kind of resistance the Reds are able to muster especially if Spurs / Villa / Man City win Saturday to rule out any top 4 hopes.
  3. Just think they could have sacked Zola and replaced him with Ian Dowie and it'd have been Hull celebrating!!
  4. Gordon Brown speaks - ..and some sort of fly on the wall documentary of a Glasgow by-election in 2008 -
  5. Evra was pretty useless defensively when he arrived at United now look at him, probably best left back in country after Ashley Cole. Bale reminds me of Riise, great going forward but a little slow on the turn.. and it appears a bit of a ball watcher judging by Nani's goal. Looks like Chelsea have got it sown up against Stoke - 3-0 HT. Next weekend will be interesting particularly if Spurs/Villa/City all drop points otherwise I think United will find it more difficult at Sunderland to pick up a win.
  6. Thought all 3 leaders impressed in the TV debate last night - with David Cameron making the biggest improvement from week 1.
  7. Utter garbage
  8. Personally ratty I'd rather Liverpool pulled out of Europa League next season if it's a case of us stopping Pompey from playing in Europe (and of course playing on a bloody Sunday every other week!! :X ) - assuming of course we don't automatically qualify by winning it in May.
  9. UEFA may step in if Pompey win FA Cup, they did much the same thing when they said Cardiff would be able to compete in Europe if they won FA Cup in 2008 and when CL winners Liverpool finished outside top 4 in 2005.
  10. Does that mean he is going to sign for Man City then?
  11. No I don't think Torres would leave if Rafa left, in fact I'd say players are more likely to stay if a new Manager arrived (as long as it wasn't someone like Ian Dowie). Besides that who exactly is Torres going to join as it's not going to be an English Club or Real Madrid which leaves only Barcelona.. but are they going to spend ?60/70m+ (assuming Reds would be willing to offload their prize asset with 3 years left on his contract) ? BTW, we're talking Liverpool here and players at the big boys never walk out... not Spurs, Villa, West Ham or Citeh ;-)
  12. I'm trembling with fear after that breaking news............. Is this the same betting firm who made Liverpool favourite to sign Frank Ribery last summer by any chance.. http://www.empireofthekop.com/anfield/?p=1541
  13. Liverpool have had a number of home games this last few months when the opposition have simply not turned up - that was as lame as Pompey few weeks back. That was Liverpool's 14th midweek game this season at Anfield - more games under the floodlights than not!
  14. Crikey Luxembourg!? Study has lost all credibility as soon as I saw Luxembourg on list never mind 6th spot!
  15. I am assuming that Ratty is pleased because he saw Spain as the only obstacle to England once again becoming World Champions - rather than enjoying the fact that both players are at risk of missing World Cup through injury
  16. He made up for it a few months later in a City shirt UEFA don't give a damn about British football fans... how the 'eck are Fulham and Liverpool supposed to reach Hamburg and Madrid by Thursday with us cut off from the continent!
  17. Narnia Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > > > Eh........why? Pfffffffff... as if it makes an ounce of difference to England not winning the World Cup
  18. "Gianfranco Zola out to end West Ham's Anfield jinx" is the headline on BBC website for not winning at Anfield in 47 years (they play tonight).. Is it lazy journalism? OR Have the Hammers actually been unlucky?
  19. Yup we'll roll over just like you lot did to Drunken Duncan in 2005 when we were juggling CL in 2005.. goes around, comes around :))
  20. Being played as a lone striker every week and playing the two previous summers has taken it's toil on Torres. From a selfish point of view I hope he misses World Cup but you have to think he is having the Op now so he can still make it. Torres usually hits the ground running (if you'll excuse the pun) on his comeback from injury. Maybe an opportunity to place your bets on him being top scorer at WC..
  21. I still make Chelsea firm favourites for the PL. They face Stoke (h), Liverpool (a) and Wigan (h) - which on the face of it should mean maximum points. Apart from waiting for Chelsea to slip up - United also have one tricky away fixture at Sunderland.
  22. David Pleat possibly the most biased commentary I have heard for a long time... "What a beautiful day!" after a few minutes of him and John Champions with their dicks in the hands gushing about Sir Alex Ferguson in the middle of the Chelsea v Spurs game
  23. ratty Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Liverpool officially up for sale!! Interesting!! We shall have to see whether they find a buyer for the price they demand. This may just be another set of lies as this I believe is the reason the Bank has given an extention to the Loan deal. It is a bit strange installing a new Chairman who is a Chelsea fan... we might even have the new Liverpool chairman being the first man to congratulate Abramovich on 2nd May should Chelsea be crowned Champions at Anfield.
  24. I watched the ITV debate, with David Blunkett responding to Alex Salmond boast of putting 1,000 Police on the streets in Scotland.. "When I was Home Secretary I put 15,000 new Police on street.." - quickly followed by his KitKat joke "David Cameron reminds me of the boy who once asked me when I was 14 yrs old if I wanted a KitKat, I said Yes, and he said there is a shop down the road where I could get one"
  25. IMO Gordon Brown was the winner - with Cameron the big loser. Cameron looked out of his depth and outflanked on both sides. How the Tories must wish they had Boris Johnson up on the podium not Cameron. Clegg did very well - but I thought much of that was from scoring cheap points, plus Cameron and Brown aimed their fire at each other although that may change a little next week to pour cold water on the Lib Dems.
