  1. Would Radio 5 have been so eager to have a jolly on tax payers money if Ronaldo has been signing for Dynamo Kiev in January?
  2. Ronaldo is talking a load of rubbish - I think he is confused that reinforcements at Madrid are being mirrored across La Liga. It's a fantastic league but Premiership is comfortably the strongest competition with the majority of world class players.
  3. I've been to Ninian Park a few times but always as a Home supporter and never saw any problems but they were low key matches. Yes there is a definate cultural shift that surfaces amongst City fans when the visitors have a reputation for hooliganism - it's almost like they consider themselves vigilantes, I'd certainly make sure my affairs were in order if I were to visit in Millwall colours. Having said that this is a Cricket match, the City is fine tuned for dealing with mass spectators (15,000 this occasion rather than the usual 80,000 for Rugby). I'd not expect the Oval to miss out on a Test because of local issues in the surrounding areas or based on my last visit to the New Den with Liverpool in 2004.

Cardiff is a fantastic city, I can only assume you were thrown out of a local pub for asking for a pint of Pride! If any City in the UK is suited for big time Sports it's Cardiff with Sophia Gardens and the Millenium in the heart of the Capital with plenty of pubs, bars and restaurants for fans and of course the odd McDonalds for the visiting Neanderthal. I believe there are more Cricket clubs per capita in South Wales than any other part of the UK - so why shouldn't they break the stranglehold and bring a Test match to South Wales.
  5. I'd say different venues - as otherwise you'd be unnecessarily restricted to only pubs with a beer garden for the Friday evening.
  6. When they get bored attacking the wheelie bins what are they going to do next - go back to playing in the sandpit?
  7. I believe a big part of successful academies is having a large catchment area with little competition by other clubs. How much more talent has West Ham got free access to over say Liverpool? I'm hoping under the new regime at Anfield that Liverpool can start producing local lads who are built for the demands of the Premiership rather than this conveyor belt of pygmies that means Rafa keeps going continental.
  8. I see David O'Leary is up to his old tricks this time trying to get back into management with this corker 'The only people who could take me as a number two would be an Alex Ferguson or an Arsene Wenger and I'd be back tomorrow. I don't want to be making out that my tongue is hanging out ass licking to get into a job. That's just not me.' Loyal to the last he then gives Harry Kewell a glowing tribute.. 'It didn't surprise me with Kewell. He was a cold boy. I told Peter Ridsdale to take the money before people realised about him. Gerard Houllier was a friend and asked me about him and I told him he'd peaked young and I thought he wouldn't go on to do much.'
  9. The only way the French would buy in to it as if we wore the Frenck kit and all player interviews were conducted in French
  10. During the tour McGeechan made it clear that selection for the Tests would be based on performances, hence why Shane Williams was not even on the bench for the First Test. Picking the players who performed best against the Super 14 sides (who were minus players in the Springboks squad) is fine when all players are equal but otherwise it is flawed. Of course the team selected for each Test was intended to win, but if the management had their time again I'd hope they'd be driven a bit more by capability than just form.
  11. I'm not sure Afternoon and Evening both on the same day quite works. I'd say revert the evening Drinks back to the Friday and keep the Saturday purely for Afternoon drinks. What is clear is that the closer the Drinks are to Goose Green the more people attend.

Hmmmm... returns an hour later (3 a.m.) - why was it so important to wheel a suitcase down the road at 2 a.m. ? I think we can safely assume what ever was in the suitcase when he left was not in the case when he returned. For someone to carry out this operation at those hours it must have been very important which then beggers the question if it was so important why not transport the case by taxi.
  13. Great end to the tour with lots of running rugby from the Lions - yes I guess we can take a series points victory on our aggregate score. The Lions played a lot better in the 3 Tests than I'd expected - and if they had their time again then they'd have picked a team to win the series proper.
  14. Is he possibly the infamous suitcase prowler? - http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,213542,page=1
  15. I'm not familiar with any such reviews but in a word, no
  16. I tend to quote a phrase if it's not my own - in this instance the words of Owen, the full quote was 'I'm sure a top club like this can re-ignite my career'.
  17. Haha. The only thing United will need to worry about (apart from injuries) is his work ethic off the ball. Since losing his blistering pace he has not been a team player and that is what has frustrated Rafa and Capello as to whether to bring him back into the fold. Be interesting to see how he and lazy bones Berbatov combine. I don't think it will sit easy with United fans that they've signed a washed up former Liverpool star 48 hours after Benzema turned down their ?35m bid to join Real Madrid. Liverpool of course took on ex-United skipper Paul Ince but that was to fill a gaping hole in our ranks but Owen to United just seems to be at best an attempt to try and rub Liverpool's nose in it, as after all the only other clubs interested were Hull and Stoke. Good luck Michael on your 2 year contract at 'a top club' - if you can prove yourself again who knows ;-)
  18. Mick - you watching the game today?
  19. tommy Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > I wonder what the odds of Michael Owen signing for > Manure were at the start of the week... They were 20/1 on Thursday morning - and 4/9 by the evening After yesterday anything is possible so might be worth a punt on Tevez to join Liverpool - 33/1 on SkyBet
  20. After missing out on Benezma with a late ?35m bid on Wednesday, Ferguson then invited Owen for breakfast the next morning. It was then at breakfast yesterday morning that Fergie made his offer. I cannot see Owen and Berbatov playing together as they're both too lazy. More like Owen will be used as a super sub after starting the first few games of the season to get Berbatov to pull his finger out. I think there is now a strong chance Tevez will reconsider the reason why he said no to Liverpool as that reason appears to have now gone up in smoke with Owen well and truly burning his bridges at Liverpool. Whether Tevez will be convinced is another matter but I'd certainly say Liverpool are back on the radar.
  21. Mike Riley and now Steve Bennett has retired.. that's got to be worth 10 points a season..
  22. Do the French and Spanish wine producers keep the best stuff for their home market or do they send it to the UK? Always thought best place to buy is in Duty Free before flying home.
  23. Burger might have been showing his softer side - welcome to south africa!
