This was a long time before my time Mick, but I'd be very interested to hear from you how great a player Kenny was up at Celtic? I guess people will say George Best or Eric Cantona was a better player but apart from that being argumentative Kenny won 3 European Cups and countless League titles in England as well as a bucket load of trophies in Scotland (when Scotland were a superior force to England) which for me makes him the outstanding number 7 in world football.

Problem is Anna injuries have kicked in and he is likely to be injured most of the coming season with recurring injuries.

Certain players might be good players but can be detrimental to how the team play. Crouch slows down the tempo with his slow motion movement / control of the ball. Liverpool would often launch long balls for Crouch when under the slightest pressure even though he was pretty useless under the high ball. Crouch can dribble past a defender outside the box and the defender still has time to get goal side.
-
No... well he might get a bit more anger thrown at him if he scores an own goal but in general people be happy he stayed. It might be a different matter if he'd been mouthing off all summer. Looks like Kolo Toure on his way to Citeh for ?15m according to Daily Mail. 3 or 4 more signings and they'll have a fully equipped team.

New crossings on Lordship Lane
matthew123 replied to PaulaBianca's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I see you've given more standing space for those outside the Bishop! ;-) I'd say 20 mph max speed would be good between Iceland and Goose Green From the last post we did on this subject it seems a number of car drivers were unaware of pedestrians having priority when crossing at junctions. What might also be useful is a lollipop man at that box junction? -
Alonso was reported to have flown into Madrid last night with given 48 hours to secure a deal to Real Madrid. However Real Madrid are still complaining Liverpool's demands are unrealistic and that if they don't lower their valuation then President Perez will turn to the youth team... that final comment, "If necessary, we'll find the Spanish players we would like for the squad in our youth side" should ring alarm bells for Alonso to whether he is being viewed as just a disposable cog (Michael Owen 04/05) rather than a 'galactico'. http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jul/28/perez-real-madrid-liverpool-xabi-alonso

5 teams so far in the EDF Supa Liga - but still no Man U, Celtic or Arsenal fans to back up all that hot air!! :)) http://fantasy.premierleague.com Join the "EDF Super Liga" - code is 224056-57537

Football's greatest Number 7 has had a live hand grenade left on his garden wall - fortunately the Army's bomb disposal unit dealt with the explosive whilst Kenny was travelling back from Asia http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/8170819.stm

Not sure we need another FFL when it was only 2 weeks ago we set up the EDF Super Liga! http://www.eastdulwichforum.co.uk/forum/read.php?20,310176 I've just created the "EDF Super Liga" on the Barclays Premiership League fantasy football web site. I've used this before and it's quite simple. You need to create your own team - I suggest you use your EDF username appended with "_edf", i.e. my username is "matthew_edf", otherwise no one will know who you are in the league relative to the EDF. To create your fantasy team go to: [fantasy.premierleague.com] Once created join the "EDF Super Liga" (if you cannot page page try [fantasy.premierleague.com]) The code to join League is 224056-57537

Yet Another Crash on Barry Road
matthew123 replied to trentk69's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Better to remove drivers rights (e.g. install speed bumps, more traffic lights etc) and make Barry Road safer has to be the best solution - surely 'sensible' / 'careful considerate' drivers can understand these measures? -

I think as a matter of urgency they need to install speed bumps on Barry Road and sod the bendy bus! -

Blinking eck I was only crossing that junction shortly after 12.30 today - have to say the cars were zooming up and down that road without much care so not really surprised to hear another crash. ...and just another reason why Barry Road deserves it's own permanent Thread -

It's not me that brought it back up it was Ferguson in today's newspaper - I just felt obliged to slap old red nose back down :)) LOL re: Geordies - it seems their new comedy gold kit matches their namby pamby players

He has done a an entertaining interview in the Observer - http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2009/jul/26/sir-alex-ferguson-manchester-united-interview Here is an extract: - Ferguson claims Ben?tez, whom many Premier League managers consider aloof, is obsessed with him rather than the other way round. "I have never said a word about him. The only time I responded was when he made that gesture with Sam Allardyce [the crossing of the hands to suggest that Liverpool's game with Blackburn was won the moment they went two goals up]. "There was no doubt he was doing that. Liverpool were too quick to come out and respond that he was signalling they should take a free-kick a different way. That was bollocks. Absolute bollocks."
-
In April, Fergie said this, "What he [Rafa] said about Everton being a small club just points to his arrogance. They are a big club." But now 3 months later Fergie feels it's okay saying this about Man City, "They are a small club, with a small mentality."

How many more Cups do you reckon Celtic can fit into their trophy cabinet? :))

I wouldn't eat my chips off that rag! ;-) According to BBC, Gerrard admitted throwing three punches but told the police only one connected - http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/england/merseyside/8163757.stm
-
Gerrard hit the guy once, his other 'punches' failed to connect - and the punch that did connect left neither a bloody nose or a broken jaw. The way people are talking you'd swear Gerrard had left the guy battered and bruised in intensive care. Steven Gerrard was subjected to abusive language by the DJ when he tried to take control of the music system after he'd just been given permission to do so by the manager. The crux of the matter in finding Gerrard innocent is that, Gerrard unaware of his mate elbowing the DJ, took the aggressive reaction of the DJ (who thought he'd been attacked by Gerrard) as a direct threat to his safety.
-
Glad you posted that Anna as some people would have been gullible enough to believe the original!! lol
-
I've read everything on Hillsborough Keef from day one - and very little of it from fans websites. What has stabbing a rudeboy or OJ shooting his wife got to do with Steven Gerrard - WTF indeed!?!
-
mockney piers Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Sorry he said himself that he couldn't understand > why the DJ had an issue with him playing his own > music. Man needs a reality check and a quick spell > in sing sing would have done. I bet you he says > "do you know who I am?" a lot. Twunt!! Gerrard said he was given permission by the bar's manageress to pick tracks on the stereo - and when he asked the DJ, the DJ responded with "You are not putting no f***ing music on in here". Gerrard later returned to speak with the DJ "I asked Marcus what was the problem with the music machine and why he treated me like that. Very quickly he came off the bar stool and was in my face right by me. I firmly believed Marcus came towards me to hit me." Keef you might have a point about bias on this case as the DJ was previously reported as a Man United fan... all swings and roundabouts really, either way the Jury have decided and the Judge has backed it up.
-
Keef they found him Not Guilty because they believed he'd acted in self defence. The DJ thought Gerrard had hit him with an elbow, should Gerrard have waited for the DJ to react by clobbering him? I've followed the entire case Keef, I tend to ignore soundbites and newspaper headlines, by reading both the prosecution and the defence, and as the judge suggested Gerrard believed he was acting in self defence and that is why he was found innocent.
-
Maybe people should actually pay attention to all the evidence rather than drawing conclusions from newspaper headlines Reminds me of when I did jury service and these 2 old dears said surely the police wouldn't have brought it to court if he wasn't guilty - thankfully sanity prevailed amongst the jury as otherwise we'd have sent a perfectly innocent man to prison So, No, money hasn't talked but ill informed opinions quite clearly do
-
So Gerrard has been found innocent and some people think Judge and Jury have it wrong - I suppose that's based on a few headlines in the newspapers huh rather than sitting through the trial and hearing all the evidence!? The others pleaded guilty to the charges - if Gerrard had not contested the charge and also pleaded guilty he to would have been guilty. Gerrard acted in self defence and the Judge and Jury having weighed up all the evidence, and agreed that Gerrard was innocent of the charges.
