Wenger's Arsenal have a history of going to tough European grounds and scoring lots of goals against teams who'd previously been rock solid at home. I don't believe it'll be a scrappy 1-0 game - I think if Arsenal cut loose it'll be a demolition job. I really do fear for Celtic next Tuesday. 5-1 (Inter Milan (a) 2003- CL) 4-0 (PSV Eindhoven (a) 2002 - CL) 5-2 (Fenerbahce (a) 2008 - CL)

Would he walk out on Arsenal to return to his boyhood club... hmmmm... damn right he would! But Cesc or no Cesc, I still have to tip Arsenal to wipe floor with Celtic at Parkhead - maybe by 4 or 5 goals

Some injury relief at Anfield as Martin Skrtel played in a behind closed doors friendly this afternoon He looks ready for his 'friend' Peter Crouch

Everton have turned down Lescott's transfer request.
-
He turned Arsenal down when he was schoolboy - so probably has a little bit more honour than some players that have been poached. But never say never - although no chance whilst he is in his pomp.
-
Think I might sign up to ESPN after all - as well as PL being in HD, they also have some Bundesliga games in HD. They seem to have picked up most of the Setenta contracts although they've replaced French football with Italian.
-
Mick - please keep us informed of further reaction from Glasgow as I'm sure alongside winning the Wembley Cup this can be considered superior to winning the League and Cup double north of the border.
-
Flipping 'eck - no Victoria Line or East Dulwich trains on Sunday which will make getting to WHL a real pain. Having said that at least it gives the lads an extra 24 hours to prepare after the pointless internationals on Wednesday night.
-
Have to make Spurs favourites for that game - have not felt this pessimistic about an opening day fixture since we played Palace at Selhurst Park, in the mid-nineties, and battered them 6-1 :))

Two top Horror movies I've recently seen on Sky are "1408" and "Rec" - I found both very chilling!

From what I've read it seems he'd be a positive addition to the team - a player who likes to get further forward and into the box than Alonso. Liverpool may miss Alonso dictating the tempo but I think other players can step into that responsibility. I'd have been a lot more worried if we'd lost Mascherano, Agger, Torres, Reina or Gerrard. As Anna said, concern would be fitness as from past experience players who arrive in England with a history of injuries tend to spend large chunks of every season in treatment room and I strongly suspect Aquilani will not buck that trend.

I'd suggest all FFL Managers edit their First Name and Last Name to represent your EDF alias. For instance my First Name is now "matthew123" and Last Name is "edf" - this will make it easier to identify FFL Managers! 5 days to go!

If he is the player we hope he is that makes it a ?20m (23.5m Euros) signature For Spurs we'll need both Carragher and Agger. Bit surprised on w/e he didn't try out Kelly at centre half seeing as that is his natural position (according to commentary). Be interesting to know who was singing that then (rather than knowing any proper songs), locals or the so-called day trippers

The Ref was wrong to stop play when Ballack went down. He should also have blown his whistle and given a yellow card when Ballack took Evra out. But once he played advantage and Rooney most certainly did not decline that advantage then everything that then followed was correct by the Ref and morally correct by Chelsea. First half United looked good and could have settled the game if it were not for the excellence of Cech, whereas at the other end Ben Foster looked anything but a future England number 1. Michael Owen looked a million miles off the pace. Carvalho looked good for Chelsea - surprised he was ever linked with a move away from the Bridge. Drogba looked motivated - now he has a new contract - and that spells trouble for PL defenders this season.

Fair point Declan, but I set this one up before that was brought to my attention. Assuming it's also the Barclays version nothing to stop us (or them) migrating from one league to other.. but it's not been promoted and from own experience many FFL Managers don't have the motivation to do back-to-back seasons for whatever reason. Good game today at Wembley - although a little disappointed with the commentary about when the ball should be kicked out of play. This issue was brought up 2 or 3 years ago and players are meant to play to the whistle (which United did until they lost possession) - which should be blown when there is a head injury (apparently Evra sprung straight back to his feet so Ref gave Rooney advantage play). I'm not a big fan of Frank Lampard but it's refreshing to listen to an intelligent player (such are they so thin on the ground) who reminded us all of that guideline... of course Richard and Jamie ignored that point and still rattled on about it post match.

Sad news. I think the athletic intensity of football is so demanding that the heart is sometimes pushed over the limit.

There is nothing to stop a Football Club introducing a star into their Club badge, or any other symbol for that matter, but it is not recognised by UEFA as meaning anything. The 'badge of honour' is recognised by UEFA, so for instance this is what AC Milan wear on their shirt sleeve when in European competition.

Celtic and Aston Villa wear 1 star, Forest > wear 2 stars - I'm confused now... Nope, only the elite may display their stars, i.e. Real Madrid, AC Milan, Liverpool, Ajax of Amsterdam and Bayern Munich EDIT: Sorry it's not actually stars, it's what UEFA call a badge of honour - but same rules apply. http://www.uefa.com/newsfiles/19071.pdf 18.10 "Multiple winners of the UEFA Champions League (three consecutive times or a minimum of five times) may wear a 'badge of honour'"

Strong start for Cardiff racing to top of the table - as I said some time ago I expect them to get automatic promotion this season. Norwich City in League One... oh dear
