I've had enough of this Cockney slagging match - what says we get back to a good ol' traditional Liverpool - Man U war of words :))

Arsenal do play great carpet football but how will they fair at the Battle of Blackburn, the Bashing at Bolton, the Slaughterhouse at Sunderland, the Wind at Wigan, the Hell at Hull, the Bruising at Burnley, the Long throws at Stoke and of course the annual Maulings in Manchester?
-
For the teams that came up they can count themselves lucky likes of Hull, Stoke, Bolton & Sunderland are still afloat because this season looks particularly weak in the bottom half. Hull have to be favourites to sink - I'd also chuck in any team led by Mick McCarthy as dead certs to be relegated so that leaves one team.

Since the year dot mankind has evolved to where it is today by eating, drinking organic produce. Many chemicals added to the food chain are meant to kill 'bugs' but long term what else do they damage... It seems to me that the best policy is to try and limit the amount of unknown/synthetic ingrediants in your diet.

(Assuming her laptop already works on WiFi) Many continental Hotels now have WiFi. I'd hazard a guess that even some multi-national coffee shops and pubs in Spain, like in London, also have WiFi. I'd do a search on the area you are visiting to see what WiFi is already available rather than simply a pricey dongle / card.

Famous people of E.Dulwich
matthew123 replied to computedshorty's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Assuming the E in 'Famous people of E.Dulwich' stands for Emmerdale and that Dulwich is backward for Farm then I'd still have to say No! It might suprise people but I walked past the GMTV Doctor the other day on Lordship Lane and lo and behold she was not submerged by autograph hunters which either means no EDF hardliners were about or in reality is not at all Famous in the sense of which Shorty intended with his OP. -

Keep up the good threads Shorty I suspect the motivation for this thread was to talk about people that are as Famous today as they will be in 30, 50, 100 years time rather than Celeb F from Channel X or what not.. -
The one I remember is when England won 4-1 away in Yugoslavia, and Sir Bobby proclaimed that the blood drenched Terry Butcher deserved the V.C. - obviously papers picked up on that OTT comment but it showed the passion of Sir Bobby. On another note, what is/has happened to the Pre-Season Drinks tomorrow - Mockney speak!

That is very sad news, but thankfully he managed to witness last weekends match in Newcastle between England and Germany to honour his great contribution to life.

'All eleven players of the Liverpool team that played its first ever competitive match, against Hinger Walton on the 3rd September 1892, were Scottish.' Liverpool have had some of the very best Scots and of course both Rangers and Celtic have played in and won European finals - but it's a long time now since any world class players were unearthed in Scotland. I don't think it's simply a case of a weak competition north of the border - as many quality players have come to the Premiership from weak domestic competitions. SP - 'Giggs down the wing' - you cannot be serious, this is 2009 not 1999!! Old man Giggs will be lucky to start 5 Premiership games this season as he'll spend most of the time remembering the good ol' days on the bench with Scholes.

In case anyone was in any doubt to the strength of Scottish football, Aberdeen were tonight trounced 5-1 at home by Sigma Olomouc of the Czech Republic in the Europa League qualifiers. This follows hard on the heels of Motherwell losing at home to Welsh side Llanelli in the previous round. What kind of preperation is this for Celtic to be playing teams like this every season if they are to have any hope of winning out in Moscow next week let alone slaying the Arsenal!

Saw Jeffrey Archer eating in there once, the night before his court case started. Excellent food and cheap. Never had a good curry on Brick Lane - better off sticking to Lordship Lane.

If Rafa wasn't so bull headed then Owen would now be a Liverpool player - and when you consider who Rafa has in reserve should Torres pull his hamstring again, I shake my head in disbelief that Rafa effectively sanctioned Owen joining United. Owen is not a team player, without his pace he contributes nothing to the build up play. That means United need a hard working midfield and strikeforce to accomodate him on a regular basis. I certainly don't see Owen and lazy-bones Berbatov starting together, I see Owen as an impact player when a goal is needed. Yes he will score goals at United but his success will be measured as to whether United win trophies and for me United are seriously weakened without Ronaldo. It will take United a few years to reform without Ronaldo especially in midfield as they have no natural playmaker - a playmaker is exactly what they need now they have no outlet for the long ball forward.

Perhaps BBW is still unable to start new threads in Lounge and so had Admin unwittingly smuggle it in!!

Realistically, I might be proven wrong on this, Arsenal are feeding the team most likely to displace them from the top 4 Is Wenger able to spend that ?40m from Citeh?

That 48 hour ultimatum was given more than 48 hours ago. If Liverpool revert to 4-4-2 with Gerrard back in midfield and the lionshare is spent on a top quality forward then it might mean a better tilt at title. What I do not want to see happen is Rafa blowing the money like a Chav whose just won the lottery.. e.g. don't go signing your players from Wigan and Hull.

Yup half time score 1-0 to the Russians - maybe they should have lowered ticket prices further to get a bumper crowd with what is at stake. I think Dinamo already have 15 league games under their belt and you know they're no mugs from that league.

Jerzy Dudek has been shooting his mouth off about our Rafa, "it is not easy to negotiate with Rafa Benitez" Although I have to say Rafa has been too diplomatic over Alonso, I can't help get the feeling that if it were anyone else but his boyhood club then Rafa would cut loose with a few barbed volleys (e.g. without Alonso no one will be able to conduct Kaka, Ronaldo, Benezma) but obviously he doesn't want to totally burn bridges if he has managerial ambitions at the Bernabeu. Having said that Spanish motormouth Guillem Ballague reckons Rafa's ultimatum of 48 hours to sign Alonso will be resented by President Florentino Perez and the sticking point could be that no one involved in the deal will 'want to lose face or to walk away with their reputation tarnished'.

It'll be like the fall of the Berlin Wall 20 years ago as we say Hello to capitalism and find we have to enter our credit card details each time we want to make a post, and pop ups galore advertising grammer & spelling checkers. The Lounge will be replaced with a new section called the 'William Rose Lounge'.. so I suggest you spend that hour saving screen shots (b&w of course) for more East Dulwich posterity.

Keegan was a great player and Liverpool have been blessed with some fantastic players over the years. Just for Mick Seems the Celtic v Dinamo Moscow game is not on TV tonight which I find quite bizarre
-
Bob Paisley who managed both Keegan and Dalglish said, "Of all the players I have played alongside, managed and coached in more than 40 years at Anfield, he [Dalglish] is the most talented." Legendary striker, Dixie Dean who once scored 60 top flight league goals in a season for Everton, said of Dalglish, "a wonderful player, such skill, so brave. Probably the best combination of goalscorer and goalmaker I've ever seen".
