According to this Southwark food hygeine inspection report on RYE LANE GROCERY (BUTCHER) at 12 Rye Lane - http://www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk/business-detail.php?business_id=155677 - it has a better rating than William Rose on Lordship Lane - http://www.scoresonthedoors.org.uk/business-detail.php?business_id=155665# Looking at the map this 4 star establishment is at the top end of Rye Lane away from most of the other Butchers - so perhaps this is not really in the rat & trolley chicken catchment area?

Surely the whole of Rye Lane cannot be tarnished with this same dirty brush?

Roads (Roadworks in East Dulwich)

No Loz, let's keep it in context. This thread is about a subject: junctions leading onto lordship lane. My first post was very clear, 'pedestrians have priority on those minor junctions'. Of course the second posting is what you actually refer to but it to also clearly states, '..I was talking about the minor junctions themselves leading onto lordship lane.' ..and purely for the benefit of drivers down lordship lane Rule 205 [where] There is a risk of pedestrians, especially children, stepping unexpectedly into the road. You should drive with the safety of children in mind at a speed suitable for the conditions. Rule 206 Drive carefully and slowly when in crowded shopping streets, .. -

Sounds like a few people need to be re-trained on the highway code.. shocker in east dulwich!!! In regard Road Junctions (that is what we're talking about here), the Highway Code says: "watch out for pedestrians crossing a road into which you are turning. If they have started to cross they have priority, so give way" EDIT: To show image -
What the hell has happened to the old football fixtures of Christmas? Gone are the days of playing 4 times over the festive period - now we have been left with just 2 games on 26th & 28th December. The PL games either side of this are 19th Dec and 9th Jan. Not forgetting that the Easter programme has long been discarded. The traditions of football have been sacrificed for midweek winter fixtures in mid December and early February, its just wrong, plain old wrong!

I understood it that the pedestrian always has right of way on our roads, unless they are otherwise barred, e.g. on motorways. But it seems many road users who hurtle our streets think the car has right of way. Anyway I was talking about the minor junctions themselves leading onto lordship lane. I doubt it is possible to place a zebra / pelican crossing on a junction as otherwise cars would be forced to be stationary on the pedestrian crossing, before turning, which I guess is illegal. -
Many customers are interested in the quality of the meat not the quality of life the animal has had before being slaughtered. The price suggests the Brixton chicken has been pumped with maybe water and steroids and consequently the bang for the buck you get is the next morning..

I think there are two points: - 1) To re-emphasise to poor drivers that pedestrians have priority on those minor junctions - as judging by the number of lunatic drivers on goose green roundabout there are a lot who need to be re-educated. 2) It will enable wheelchair users and pram / pushchair passengers to have a more comfortable ride down lordship lane. -
Well I tried my best but it seems I've upset SP with what I considered a balanced opinion on the fixture list and referees.

United play both Chelsea and Liverpool away after Champions League matches. Arsenal play the Big 3 in space of 10 days. Chelsea play 5 home matches after CL matches and the 1 they have away is in London. We say that over a season the best team wins.. but surely from the fixture list some teams already have an advantage? The only thing I like about the fixture list is that there is a Big 4 clash at least once a month - whereas I always felt having a Grand Slam Sunday meant Sky were missing a trick as inevitably one of the block buster fixtures would be on the undercard so to speak. Liverpool's fixtures are pretty even - as you never want big 4 clashes back to back, so I feel it's unfair on Arsenal that 10 day triple whammy after Xmas. Surely they can program the fixture list that no team should ever play Big 4 teams back to back. The other change I would like is that Referees are picked randomly for games (big or small).. there is always going to be a bias when you have the same Ref becoming familiar with one or two teams by continually taking charge of their games. Steve Bennett referee'd one Liverpool PL game last season out of 38, Alan Wiley did only 2 for United. They say that Referee's do not like to upset the big boys because they'll complain and not get anymore of the big boy games - hence why we often get Referee's favouring the big teams. Let us put an end to Ref's being hand picked for individual games - if a Ref is good enough for the PL Ref list then he is good enough to be drawn randomly from a hat to take charge of whatever game is being played in the PL.

LOL - okay.. so there is a problem on Rye Lane which can be resolved with a nose peg.. but is Rye Lane meat going to give me food poisoning?

I'm not going to argue with you SP - as on this occasion you are quite correct! Pattern? Well SP apparently wanted a 'niggle' but it seems he bit off more than he can stomach! ;-)

I have a funny feeling that over in Spain, Ronaldo won't be the same snarling, egotistical bastard he was at United. Madrid's new manager seems a nice guy and I think that will rub off on Ronaldo. I don't think he has gone to Madrid purely to win trophies, my guess is he'd also have happily signed for any club on the Med who'd pay his wages. The question is will the White Pele now step up to the plate and deliver?

I have read a number of recent posts that mention William Rose quality - but how does it compare with Rye Lane butchers? It seems Rye Lane is cheaper but how about the quality and freshness. Does anyone who eats William Rose meat recommend any particular outlets on Rye Lane for chicken or lamb? I do not want to dive in and buy from any old outlet on Rye Lane as last time I did that (with salmon) I ended up with food poisoning, so looking for a good recommendation before I again put my belly to the test! :)

Well I guess that is another one who won't get the Nobel Prize for Crime

EDT I reckon - whose up for that? Should be it's usual partizan atmosphere for such occasions! Think there was some interest from Brendon and BigBadWolf to attending the EDT as well if memory serves me correct from last week?

Well as Rafa said let Mr Ferguson sort out the fixtures... and it seems he has stitched up Arsenal with them having to play Liverpool, United and Chelsea in space of 10 days during the African Nations Cup (when they usually have a few players missing)

Give it a day or so and it'll available to download as a torrent, e.g. mininova, and watch it that way. That's what I used to do when I didn't want to wait a week to watch Prison Break.

Yet again Liverpool start with an away fixture, with a very healthy win predicted by ???? :) It is 6 years since Liverpool last played at Anfield on opening day

Times are tough, the Mirror are reporting, 'Liverpool sign Bent'

Wasn't there a study done on this exact topic that proved beyond doubt that the vast majority of offenders had fat fingers and hence found it easier using speed dial than typing a short essay by text..

Why the interest in the 1st round draw LG, have you moved on to supporting a club with better prospects!? ;-)
-
Yes but were you dragging a suitcase on your journey through the bad lands of SE22, so local thugs knew you were one of them to gain instant respect!?

Somerfield is good if you just want to get a few staples on the way home rather than hike up to Sainsbury's - I also think there is room for a Waitrose / M&S on lordship lane preferably replacing something no longer in demand.. Iceland may have been great for the chicken nuggets and frozen pizza brigade but East Dulwich has moved on and is now in need of something more upmarket.
