  1. Comprehensive victory but Lions just don't have that magic to break down the Boks. I think they will need to break in James Hook at fly half as brawn will not be enough to make an impression on South Africa.
  2. Great night at the Vale for the End of Season drinks. Maybe we'll have another session for the Confederations Cup when Liverpool, sorry I mean Spain, take on the rest of the World in a few weeks time. Feel free to show interest in attending.
  3. Sean - I wasn't having a go in particular at drug lords but more a general point that we cannot slap everyone's wrist and expect them all to fall into line. No, different elements need different policies. There is no one solution for all. How many people are against the death sentence and torture because they are concerned they'll one day through no fault of their own be the victim of such punishment, rather than think what will make this country a safer place for law abiding citizens?
  4. Well if water torture isn't acceptable for certain elements of the crime world then what is the answer - because just saying something is wrong is just passing the buck. Horses for courses I say.
  5. Time is running out for Shane Williams to prove he is still worthy of the Lions shirt
  6. I'll be watching the Lions beforehand at home (before getting to Vale for 8 p.m.) - although for the actual Test series will watch in pub as should be a top atmosphere.

Are you telling me that local shopkeepers were more concerned by not losing business (by using new crossing to Somerfield) than people getting run down on the road?

  9. Game kicks off at 8.15 p.m. so shall we say meet at the Vale from 8 p.m. ? I think I've met most ppl who've said they might attend, but for those who may not be able to recognise us feel free to PM me for my mobile.
  10. I don't think Milan will be laughing.. as they could have coined another ?42m on top if they'd sold Kaka in January to City. Real Madrid and Barcelona are always under immense pressure to deliver - but even if Real beef up their team further with Ronaldo, Ribery, Alonso they'd still not look as good as Barcelona on paper at least. So what ever happens this summer you have to make Barcelona favourites for La Liga and Champions League next season.
  11. Watching it on TV, Sunday, they appeared to have a DJ on a raised platform at the Oval to carry out this 20/20 ritual.
  12. That box junction you mention is difficult to cross and it's wonder there have been no accidents. View Larger Map
  13. My top 3 would be.. 1) Winston Churchill (what drove him from the wilderness to victory) 2) Bill Shankly (talk about the glory days) 3) Abraham (to ask him, where did it all go wrong)
  14. Well I'm a definate attender for Wednesday at the Vale. Sounds like ratty, ????, Anna (and possibly Keef) can so far be counted on. Hopefully a few more are able to attend, perhaps Red Devil, LadyGooner, Sharon H, Mockney, Sean, Tony, Mick Mac, Jah Lush, david_carnell, SimonM, Mikecg to name but a few (apologies if I've missed any names)
  15. Yes that was my impression as well Keef about the motivation for a Saturday, purely to start the event earlier with sunshine being a bonus. Unfortunately I couldn't make the June one but I think a major factor for attendance is locality. Since my first drinks in January, I don't think it's coincidence that the ones on Lordship Lane seem to get treble the numbers than say FHT/Herne (which for most people is going to be at least a 20 minute journey). Perhaps what I should have said is that instead of splitting it into Friday night / Saturday afternoon - maybe a seperate event (say 3rd Saturday) is organised exclusively for when kids can attend.

  17. Doesn't add up
  18. No I think Georgia has just arranged it for June, July, August and September Maybe for summer next year they should do Friday night then have the Saturday afternoon for families - as I guess it's impossible for people drinking during the afternoon to keep it going into the night.
  19. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Vale? I don't mind as long as it's got beer and a > decent view Definately got decent views what with 4 or 5 screens and plenty of seating areas. Not sure on all the pumps but they do serve proper Becks and Strongbow. Trouble is Anna, this is the last game of the season on Wednesday, so I think we have no other choice.
  20. I think they were as bad as each other. Too much brawn and not enough class. Didn't watch the first game but from the next 2 I have seen these are the only players I've been impressed with so far from the Lions: O'Driscall, Tommy Bowe, Jamie Roberts, Gethin Jenkins, Mike Phillips & Wyn-Jones.
  21. Well there is only one game left and that is Wednesday night in the Vale... did I say the Vale? Yes I did. Good venue and plenty of space, so if anyone wants to organise it let me know and I'll be there.
  22. Poor Lions performance today against the Cheetahs. Shane Williams looks a spent force. Got off to a great start but in the end 3 missed penalties and a missed drop goal spared the Lions blushes. Cheetahs came bottom of the Super 14 but everytime they turned on the gas and exploded through the middle the Lions had problems.
  23. Citibank
  24. Everton rolling it back 25 years with next season's home shirt which again is made by Le Coq Sportif
