  1. You too Dale. It's not clever and it's certainly not big.
  2. You're really pushing the envelope there, Keef.
  3. Hey Bob. Less time comparing sizes with AlanD in the showers and you might have seen I made that point about 5,4535634,3543 posts ago. Not that it matters in the slightest. Frisco - I've read your post a couple of times and I'm not sure what you're trying to say.
  4. Keith, I'm sure oyu've sorted this out by now anyway, but I'm pretty certain it's on BBC2 all over - not just Scotland.
  5. Well, BBC2 is showing it live from 5:45pm, so my sitting room is always an option. England will have finished by then so I think there'd be no problem with asking for most places to switch over to BBC2 for a couple of hours.
  6. Nice one Mark. They can now put, "Nominated for Best Pub in East Dulwich - EDF" on their big banner outside.
  7. Mark. I posted a pub with an SE22 postcode - are you not going to add it to the list? Somebody might want to vote for it.
  8. In need of some stationery, Snorky?
  9. Eh? I thought he was "really surly and rude"? EDIT: Oops. Ignore. Getting my snorkys and spangles mixed up.
  10. Has anyone else found the man in the Cheese shop really surly and rude No. Never. Next.
  11. Good post Barry. But Maggie bought in 1985 and sold in 1987, when she had about another 3 years in office still to go. And she bought in a gated community as an investment, greatly enriching herself courtesy of Barratt Homes, who were rewarded in turn. Apart from that, it's hard to disagree with your analysis of what happens to an area once it starts to gentirfy. EDIT - I suppose you'd be hard put to make the childless bit stick as well, relating to ED.
  12. a Do you think gentrification in Dulwich has been a good thing or a bad thing? b Has it gone too far? c Where do u think it will end? Well, my contribution to your 10,000 words is: a) Good for the gentry. But the exclusion, or the perceived exclusion, of those who are not economically advantaged is a significant Bad. b) Surely a loaded question. Why too far? Too far for what? This seems to presuppose some disadvantageous process is in hand. There may well be but it seems loaded. c) At the fish shop in Nunhead.
  13. The people that were here before us weren't much cop either, Bob. EDIT: Sarcasm flag added to above post.
  14. GHB. GBH has probably always required ambulances.
  15. The Harvester probably sports a SE22 postcode?
  16. SLP and SN cub reporters to the diary room, please.
  17. I like the idea of a squad of 11 year olds handing it out on here and generally /pnwing everyone. Get a job. Move on. Get a life. I think we need to be protected from them, not the other way round.
  18. How do you determine the age of the registrant, Bob?
  19. The 'local' market is hardly enough to support what is really a middle class group trying to thrive as an island. I think you're saying there aren't enough middle class people in the immediate area to support a lot of businesses attractive to those few middle class people. Maybe not. And so what? Businesses that do fit the area will thrive and so be it. In Car Multimedia and Review, Crossroads Cafe and Petitou, Sam's Kebabs and Ganapati. All seem to do fine. Perhaps the area is not as isolated or as one-size-fits-all as you make out.
  20. There you go. Personal recommendation is nearly useless in this area as so much is down to chance as well as the efforts of any one agent. You will have to go with what suits you, a combination of personal chemistry, gut feeling and prejudice, as do we all. Insist on a short "sole vendor" period though. Gets them moving and means you can change whenever you like.
  21. We had realistic, decent service from Winkworth. But no doubt there'll be someone along in a New York minute to say, "Never Winkworth".
  22. Ted Max

    Help!

If you can't afford to brake, down on the M1 or anywhere else, that might be the cause of the problem. With apologies for completely useless, not helping at all, kind of post.
  23. Exavtly Alan, "Give me the boy at six", as the Jesuits liked to say, "and I will give you the inveterate poster mixing it up on neighbourhood internet forums". Or something like that.
  24. Sorry, Maurice, you'll have to try again. I've got no objection to needle exchanges. So, no, still no entry to marvellous first world East Dulwich I'm afraid. You'll have to stick it out with the starving masses on the other side of the hill.
  25. The labling of anything in Britain as "third world" (trains, health service etc) is useful shorthand for "I am a bit of an idiot with no sense of perspective, you can safely ignore the rest of this post/ column/ party political broadcast etc" And to avoid lounging, the answer to the thread question is "no".
