  1. Just to save some of you some research: Made a few phonecalls today about lunch on Sunday for me, Mrs, two kids aged 4 and 6. Results as follows: Beauberry House - fixed price 3 course lunch menu ?32 each Le Chardon - fixed price ?25 adult and ?17.95 for kids (even if four years old) Cafe Rouge - ?19 adults, kids have normal kids menu (?8 i think) Went for Cafe Rouge in West Dulwich as have been there quite a few times before and they treat children very well and the kids menu is excellent value for reasonable quality kids food. Also they said the mothers day fixed price was an additional choice and the normal menu was also available. Its a chain but I think the food is always reasonable standard if you are partial to French bistro food. I thought beaubeery house was ok price wise as it is decent cuisine and location, although have not eaten there for a few years, but Le Chardon charging ?18 for a four year old I thought was really pushing it. Mrs M likes cafe rouge so she made the choice in the end. All had availability so make your own choices. PS - hope to have massive hangover on Mothers day if Ireland can win on Saturday (not really relevant or Mother loving, I know :))
  2. Yes - most probably right I think David - I would be a little disappointed but this team really deserves a championship and I think the teams we have beaten so far is a great achievement. Looking forward to it. GS would be a bonus and who knows, this welsh team is possibly a little dejected after losing to France and struggling with Itlay, so who knows if Ireland get off to a good start.....
  3. So Declan/David - whats your prediction for saturday? How will it turn out?
  4. Well only what I head read RD. He won the world championship under 10s which put him on the map and I guess he really arrived when he won the West of Ireland amateur championship aged 15 which would have included all the best Irish amateur golfers. I played in Ireland about 4 years ago and they were all talking about him then. It amazing how far he has come in so short a time. It seems people have reasonable expectations of him finishing in the top 20 in the Masters over Easter weekend. If he could achieve that it for me will make 4 nights of wonderful viewing on the BBC. The americans have taken to calling him Ronald McDonald on account of his baseball cap and abundance of hair.

I'm sure I could make an Arse-Nil joke out of this given sufficient time/imagination.
  6. Well said ibilly - I second that comment - some people can buy their way out of problems.
  7. Not sure I have achieved much in the fantasy rugby this weekend but then not many tries scored by anyone other than England. Hope you fared better David. Great performance by England, however unexpected, and perhaps Ireland's win over them, however narrow, now looks a better performance.
  8. And another one: http://news.bbc.co.uk/olmedia/365000/images/_369625_gummer300.jpg
  9. Not many golfers on the forum perhaps - but anyone interested in sport should find the rise or Rory McIlroy fascinating. He's 19 years old, from Holywood in Belast and today Tiger Woods has joined the many others who have tipped McIlroy to succeed Woods as world number one. Its amazingly quick, people in Ireland have known about his capabilities for a few years, but noone could really predict how the top Americans are raving about him. He has already won on the European Tour and challenged on the US Tour. The US Masters over Easter weekend should make great viewing, to make the cut would be an achievement, but it seems better things are expected of him even at 19. It seems great things could be in the making. When you see a young sporting talent you wonder about what the future many hold - its a fascinating prospect, and it would be good to see a golfing great from Northern Ireland. Perhaps the new George Best will be a golfer. Woods tips McIlroy for World Number One
  10. More fun from the Special One Jose takes the mick out of the voyeur Wenger again.
  11. I don't think there is a lynch mob mentaility Keef - just a number of people saying what they feel, and that the courts may have gotten it wrong on this one.
  12. Macroban - you are the queen of short succint posts...no doubt. (unless you are a bloke in which case replace queen with king).
  13. I'm going to L'Atelier de Joel Robuchon next Friday - that's as French as it gets for me. I have been on the Nicolas Gigondas tonight though. Almost finised, ready for a bit of dormez vouz/moi.

Anna - that is fantastic - anyone who has not watched this should watch it NOW NOW NOW. The Liverpool fan is so funny even the MU fan is laughing at him in the end. Especially after the second Liverpool goal when the LP fan accuses the MU fan of stealing his scouse tache - excellent. >:D<
  15. I see - have checked it out and now I remember it from a long time ago too.
  16. I have not got a clue what this is about Rosie - but am more than happy to double the size of your thread! :)
  17. SP - I also saw and responded to MikeCG's post about the Munich Air Disaster and the death of Duncan Edwards. It was disgusting and although Admin deleted it I think it should perhaps have stayed - I think if you make a provocative post like that, you should get to hear what others think about it and learn the consequences of such a statement. I'm not sure may people would correspond with him had they seen the post you are refering to.

No not at all Rosie - I'm not a tabloid reader - but I'm entitled to make a personal judgement based upon the facts I've read in the quality press and media. Based upon that I'm not going to enrich him by buying tickets and I'm amazed many thousands of people have not come to the same conclusion. There is a jury system in place but if a the 12 people empowered with this decision make what I feel is the wrong decision I don't have to agree with it. He's legally entitled to live his life as a person who legally is completely innocent and I respect the system that came to that decision, but I also know that a jury system will make occaisional mistakes and for me he will always be guilty. No storming of barricades.

Its incredible that all some people can think of is themselves in a situation like this. Its principally the people of Northern Ireland who have endured incredible suffering over the 30 years of the troubles and it is principally them who will again suffer if this thing starts again.
  20. United fans will remember when Paddy Power paid out on them winning the title and Arsenal won their last 10 or so games to take the title, so who knows. I have a bet on United so I'm supporting them this season, but I think you have to hand it to Liverpool for making a title race out of it today. Liverpool need consistency from here on. And who knows, Robbie Keane may still have a say in this title race.
  21. Agreed Declan - but losing by 13 points or more - now that just wouldn't feel right! In fact I'd be downright p'd off. I think if they can play for 80 mins the way that played in the second half today they can beat Wales. The forwards really raised their game in the second half having been second best in the first. If they do the Big GS then I'd be mightily impressed with the "forsight" exhibited in naming my fantasy rugby team "Croker Slammers". I bought an Irish rugby shirt at the start of the 2007 world cup and it seemed to be bad timing - they hardly won a game for 18 months, so its great to see them winning. This team, O'Driscoll, O'Gara, Wallace, Hayes, Oconnell and Stringer deserve to have a championship to their name, a GS would be ideal but a championship of any sort is a big achievement and not many would have predicted at the outset. I have to say one pundit who did back Ireland at the start was Jeremy Guscott so hats off to him. Looking forward to next saturday - Guinness hats all round.
  22. Well done Anna and well done all Liverpool fans, thats a great win and one I was not expecting. MU can't really afford a slip up now, although the same can be said of Liverpool, they probably have to win every game to have a chance at the title.
  23. Rosie - he's as innocent as OJ Simpson - sometimes 12 people get it wrong when the world outside watches, in amazement.

Mike - do you really find that sort of thing funny? I think its nasty and inappropriate. A lot of people lost their lives and not just footballers. I hope decent people on this forum let you know what they think of this type of comment.
  25. 3-1 Liverpool - can't quite believe Liverpool have beaten MU. Opens the league up now. Liverpool seem to have found a new gear.
