  3. Traders that quote one number for cash and another if cheque/bank transfer. Is this practice justifiable? I have a tradesman asking me for cash, he said he agreed this with my missus at the outset of the job.... Apparently his daily rate is ?20 cheaper if cash and that's what he quoted on.

Mine were ?175 each - no far from cheap but wanted to go. Had no luck with final and semi - but of course these were even more expensive anyways. My next door neighbour got semi tickets but AM - all tickets available after allocation to rugby clubs etc were through the ballot. if after the ballot there are tickets still left you can buy direct - eg the ?250 France Ireland ones it seems were not taken up.
  5. AC DC died the night Bon Scott died imo
  6. I was in the Grove in 93/94 quite a lot. I lived in a house behind the Kerfield Tavern, now the crooked well.
  7. Silver Treasure is running in the UK Saturday at Newmarket. https://www.racingpost.com/horses2/cards/card.sd?race_id=612191&r_date=2014-11-01#raceTabs=lc_ His record so far: http://www.racingpost.com/horses/horse_home.sd?race_id=612191&r_date=2014-11-01&horse_id=843354#topHorseTabs=horse_race_record&bottomHorseTabs=horse_form It's only on racing UK I'm afraid. He has paid for himself so far winning ?36k before French premium but more like 50k total. Not a bad little runner.

Perryman said he was still an influence on the successes of the 80s. You need another Bill Nicholson soon.
  9. Yawn Maxxi. Good weekend for the chasing pack with MC and Chelsea only getting a point between them.
  10. Indeed, too scared not to. Lighten up SJ.
  11. You made the statement Otta that it is despite him. What makes you think that ? It seems the guy can't win. Even when he wins.
  12. I missed it before but MF describes the old Stella Artoris as a little drop of "do as you are told". Even the girls laughed....
  13. Otta "BFS has been there a while, it is only now that they are playing nice football, and I honestly believe that is despite him rather than because of him." Well that's just as bad as it gets in terms of denying a person some credit for his achievements.
  14. I just left shoes in to him a few minutes ago and he could not have been more friendly.
  15. Sack Sam. Sign the petition.
  16. The Rugby World Cup sent the ballot results today. I got tickets for Ireland France in Cardiff on Sunday 11 October 2015 and have the hotel booked. Unsuccessful in getting any England games and semi final or final but pleased to have got something. Anyone else have any luck ?
  17. I find him changeable but his work excellent. I think he feels he is slightly "above" minor repairs as he is a shoemaker (maker of bespoke shoes) as well as a shoe repair person. He resoles my shoes much more cheaply than where I bought them from, so his prices are fair. Not likely to be impressed by making his living from ?7 jobs, but at the end of the day you need to be nice to customers or it will bite you in the long run. As for asking for things for free, it's a pretty selfish thing to do to a "sole" trader trying to make a living. Maybe you should go to a "heel" bar.
  18. Ted Bishop bites the dust. Some people feel the pressure. For me Tom Watson walks with his head held high.
  19. Ashley to pay 3m for controlling stake in Rangers. And this money keeps them alive until Easter.

I can just picture your missus now DC, with her big beer gut, beard and CAMRA tshirt. I know her type alright.
  23. You can get well tanked on free tasters. No money, no problem.

  25. Micky Flanagan routine... when he goes to the offy to buy 4 cans of Stella Artoris he gets a worried look from the lady in the shop and she says : "oh dear love, would you like one of our leaflets....." Also when he walks down the road drinking a can of SA - he finds he's given lots of space. Would never happen to a real ale drinker. Maybe Quids knows different.
