It needs some cut in the ground so it cancelled Ascot and ran at Angers in France. Brave front running performance but finished 3rd. http://www.racingpost.com/horses/horse_home.sd?horse_id=843354#topHorseTabs=horse_race_record&bottomHorseTabs=horse_form Thanks Alan.

Yes, its the class of the postcode that has changed not the people, it all seemed to just pass us by. Who'd have thought, a postcode moving up in class without consulting its inhabitants?

I don't know if this is good or bad really..... Celtic and Arsenal hold top positions in a new football financial strength league of 44 European clubs devised by S&P Capital IQ. While Celtic top the league, Glasgow rivals Rangers are bottom and are held up as an example of how things can go wrong on and off the pitch. Apart from Celtic, only Ajax get ahead of Arsenal in the table based on a range of debt and financial performance indicators, but the North London side are ahead of Bayern Munich and Manchester United (ranked fourth). Not surprisingly, S&P Capital IQ suggest that Arsenal's financial stability may be related to its unwillingness to 'buy' success by spending heavily on transfers

I can't engage in banter with you SCSB until you have a team of your own.

Roy Keane is a hero of mine. Much maligned for letting Ireland down in the 2002 world cup - which is completely justified in my opinion, but also worth remembering there is no way on this earth they would have qualified from a Holland and Portugal group without his amazing performances in the qualifiers when he really was top of his game. footnote: Louis v Gaal was Holland manager btw.

Dulwich Estate - fit to run conservation?
Mick Mac replied to DulvilleRes's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
To understand Dulwich Estate surely we need to look at who it benefits with all of its cash collected (apart from just being a guardian of the asthetics of the area). So the question: who are the cash beneficiaries of DE? -

If you wanted to entertain an ounce of realism and your knowledge of football finances you would understand that Celtic punched way above their weight (pound for pound) under Lennon, last 16 of the champions league - these were great achievements. But don't come back on me again - I cant take any more. You have broken me already.

Lennon had no trouble keeping the competitive edge - that's part of the test of a good manager. Last season, already two years without Rangers, after loss of Wanyama and Hooper he won a record number of consecutive games and set a post war record for consecutive clean sheets. No pressure to invest? They invest what they can afford to invest, with Scottish clubs in financial meltdown all around them, they need to be prudent. They have invested as much this year if not more than previous years - wanyama etc were all bought cheap. we haven spent more than a couple of million on a player for near a decade. Their year on year spend on players is therefore I think quite consistent - Not reinvesting proceeds of player sales is a different thing and they have had to use this money to keep the club in decent financial shape esp in absence of champions league. That's why Lennon left. Any Celtic manager is judged on Europe currently, the SPL is a given. But lose to Hamilton and you will be under pressure.

I was at Chelsea Arsenal today but to be honest I enjoyed the beers before and after the game more than the gane itself. A pub called the Jam Tree did the trick. On the field Chelsea looked commanding in general and arsenal looked good sporadically.

I think we were the only British team to win in europe tonight? Cmon the hoops.

Right but sorry to burst the Dulwich Tandoori bubble but my Chicken Madras was nothing like a madras, tasted of uncooked powdered spices, and tasted rather poor. Good company of course. -

I think I posted on here the day Ed got elected leader that as long as he was at the helm it was going to be years in the wilderness for labour. Can we find that thread?

Saw the live cinema broadcast of Streetcar named Desire (Gillian Anderson) a few weeks ago when it was broadcast "worldwide". Must be fantastic in the theatre, albeit rather sad. Just realised its mentioned above..

There aren't any new Irish people, just some quite old ones. Personally I'm not allowed out very often, so cant offer my services unfortunately. If you had asked me 20 years ago.....

Thanks for the summary LM. All good. There was a spell about mid 2000's when lots changed and then I felt for some years it stayed much the same - nice to see new business opening up again as per your list and the new ones already opened over the last 12 months or so. Haven't had a new curry house for a while.

Also prefer Thursday. Hope to make tonight though. -
If you google it seems most of the papers covered this story not just the mail. I think the point being made is that the Council did not take a blind bit of notice of the problem when it was highlighted to them. Personally... if someone is dead they are dead and that's that, I feel for the family with young children, knowing that those maggots were eating a human body is pretty gross and I think they (especially the children) are right to be horrified.
