  1. Do you have a place for your baby at these nurseries? Never heard of them but hope you get some feedback!
  2. Zanna brought this thread/topic up after a year and a half (asking about the 'old' Charter School) even though they seem to have gone with Elmwood School (sorry not heard of it). Good luck Zanna and only you can make a choice but I would recommend going along to visit The Charter School.
  3. Yes, the Kindergardens in the area don't take children until they are a bit older but it's good you are asking around. There are some German/English speaking childminders around but I would say you need to lower your expectations of their fluency.
  4. I can see your point Thatiana as some nurseries expect children to be potty trained at 2 which is unrealistic even for a 3 year old. It comes down to how many staff are looking after how many children really and what attention they can give each child and what sort of attention they need. Have you thought about using a nanny or registered childminder?
  5. Boppin Tots in St Barnabas in Dulwich Village is run by Fi and she is great with keeping all ages entertained! Go to the website and there is a 9.30 and 10.30 session in Dulwich Village.
  6. Why not take it to the local police station (not sure if they still exist) but sure you can find contact details. I would not have felt good hanging onto somebodys phone for so long.
  7. Maybe the Cambria had to close due to cutbacks in Lambeth recently. Jessop Children's Centre has recently shut down all groups and Myatt's Fields the same. Such a shame. Crawford Children's Centre comes under Southwark so you might be lucky finding something going on there on a Wednesday. If not, pm me for details of a lovely group near to Ruskin Park.
  8. An accident waiting to happen I would say! Looks like you didn't see your remit through rch so better luck with The Dulwich Society!
  9. Yeah, I wondered who thought of the idea. Maybe contact tfl about that. A good extension but could have done without a double decker instead of the single decker which has been for years. Followed it a few times today when going about in the area and it just seemed out of place and very cumbersome. The P4 will probably be the next to go down the same route.
  10. Subway in Camberwell must be doing good business then! It's handy for hospital workers/visitors (there's always a queue at lunchtime) and you can choose what you want and the staff are always friendly. Daughter made a complaint recently about staff attitude at their Brixton branch but that's another matter. I went to Oxford Street in July (first time in years) and was met by terrible customer service/food at pret a mange and Mcdonalds (at the latter the member of staff didn't understand the word for 'water'). I repeated the word 'water' three times and then shook a bottle of half-filled water that I had in my bag. The young lady still didn't understand and it caused a big queue to form behind us.
  11. Rendel, you advised people that parking on your street was ok a while ago so maybe that's why the coach turned up? I remember somebody asking about parking outside ED train station and you offered your street?
  12. But at least Subway do a vegan/vegetarian option if you want and I love their hearty Italian bread! M&S and Waitrose have no choice for this!
  13. On the 42 yesterday the driver told me next Saturday. He wasn't looking forward to it.
  14. Yes, the double decker number 42s have been trundling along Red Post Hill over the past weeks/months. Maybe that's what caused a major waterpipe burst early this morning on Red Post which affected the whole area, living wise and traffic wise? Who knows but Red Post Hill and surrounding roads are left with the clear up all because of another 'consultation/extension'.
  15. Very strange to read a document predicted for 2018 when it's 2016! Obviously the consultation people know a lot more than us mere mortals!
  16. kford, you are right, there's no camera. The OP must have had a bus behind or in front of them when they turned into the small section going into Sainsburys and that bus has captured them. The same at the top of dog kennel opposite the school. It's been going on at lots of turn ins for ages and anyone driving around now should know that.
  17. Oh no, I love the bus stop time ins! Like many people I don't rely on a phone for everything but hope the thief gets caught!
  18. They have to close sometime I suppose? Never known any to be open in September.
  19. You could check the school policy on this with the office for advice? It takes a lot to get children into schools these days, only to take them out again!
  20. Just putting this up and hope you find somebody willing to help keep it open.
  21. Yes, let's hope her smile can make up for the dress!
  22. That row of shops is terrible for parking anyway and I dread taking my cats to the vets there. What happens if there is no parking outside the vets then what are you supposed to do? The other shops are not accommodating so maybe the shops need to work together. I've spoken to the other shops a few times with just an unhelpful response. I used to park in the Harvesters across the road but now that land has been unused and blocked for a few years? Trying to turn left coming up from LL into the bus lane is bad and then trying to turn left or right out of the vets is a feat in itself! Looks like this private company Flashpark is taking advantage of the situation!
  23. What happened to a cup of Rosie Lee? That's all I had a cup of when I left home for work years ago. Didn't get another cup until around 3 hours later.
  24. Sounds good. Somewhere parents/grandparents/carers can meet up if they want to. General toys, books, sand, painting (if you can clear up afterwards), couple of slides, ride ons, dollies, buggies, trains, cars, garage, toy kitchen. You don't need to 'register' with the council. The fee you charge would cover the costs of hall/room hire so it's nothing to do with them. Most groups are run voluntarily but with councils closing down facilities due to government funding there is a need. You might need to factor in somebody making tea/coffee, biscuits, doing song-time as that's extra on top of help with tidying up all the stuff. Good luck!
  25. I tried online and same thing so went to Camberwell leisure centre and insisted on filling out a form which the receptionist insisted didn't exist but was right in front of her. A slight queue built up while I was asking her about this (two/three people) and she got a bit annoyed but gave me the form which I duly completed. This was a month or so ago so now got the email to say I'm in.
