  1. Also depends on what parents earn (parents have to submit past and present earnings etc to Student Finance England)so that will reflect on a student's Maintenance Loan which is the money they will have paid directly into their bank account by Student Finance to live on i.e. rent, food, drink (odd bottle of vodka)!, toiletries, going out, clothes, etc. My daughter graduated last year (July 2017) and managed to keep her food/drink bills to around ?20 per week by shopping at Aldi and Lidl but that had to be topped up regularly by parents! I have other children who graduated in 2014 but that was when the ?3,000 odd Student Loan was in operation.
  2. Oh that is such sad news and I would like to send my greatest sympathy to buddug's family. I've been on the forum since it started and enjoyed reading her posts.
  3. Thanks for that camberwell70 x
  4. Have you had a word with your lodger about things? If things that are bothering you were pointed out to him/her then I'm sure they would understand and it might be a shock if they were landed with another ?10-?14 a week bill to pay!

Sorry. As usual rendel, you have to use a couple of out of ordinary words to uphold your stance on things! i.e. pernicious and monomaniacal. I've had to google them myself! Anything that SNARL can add to this investigation can only be a good thing.
  6. Interesting programme tonight on Channel 5 about parking issues in Britain. Showed a mum in South London running around supermarket car parks challenging people who parked in parent and baby spaces! She's even taken it to parliament! Think her website was called give me space or something like that.
  7. Yes, I've seen them dumped everywhere over the past few months and can't understand the concept (somebody please let us know). I think it's something about the power running out and they are then just left where they stop? Seen several on the Denmark Hill Estate and in the local parks. Just yesterday there was one just left on a crossing on Red Post Hill!
  8. I would just be thankful that you have an alternative transport home. I remember getting the old No. 12 everyday to get home in a heatwave and having to go upstairs when smoking was still allowed!
  9. Only time will tell and somewhere along the line this person/s will get caught and put away for life! Let's just leave it to the Police and SNARL.
  10. Yes, hope they're ok. The Police say that this crime is not being linked to other crime in the area.
  11. Whatever, but have to agree with rendelharris about French people's rudeness and terrible acknowledgement of anybody if they are not from France or can't speak French! Spent a week in Paris in 2001 for a 10th wedding anniversary (which my husband had arranged) but I couldn't wait to get bsck and I would never visit France again!
  12. Disabled or not, if this happened to me or one of my daughters I would report him to the police.
  13. I went to the Goodrich School boot sale on Sunday and bought a black summer dress and a small gold colour shoulder bag from a lady who had a stall facing the entrance and roughly in the middle of the playground. They were on a clothes rail. I bought quite a few bargains on other stalls too and didn't look at them properly until Sunday evening. Inside the gold bag I found a couple of items of costume jewellery probably from the 70s/80s/90s and might be of sentimental value to the owner. They are a pair of earrings and a necklace with the word LOVE on the neckline. Hopefully they read the East Dulwich Forum!
  14. Don't think it's every thread, but this one naturally came around to this. If it makes people aware that somebody is still killing cats and other animals out there I can't see the problem.
  15. I've wondered for years about Barry Road not having some kind of speed restrictions and I don't even live there but visit a friend nearby. So many side roads pulling out on to Barry Road in either direction with cars (and buses) speeding along! Sorry to hear about the crash tonight!
  16. Hope your son gets his bike back, but the Police seem to have given up on bike crime in the area and beyond!
  17. Yes, I agree Shanny that people still take pot-shots at defenceless animals for whatever reason, who knows! As far as I know SNARL must have been alerted to this latest terrible killing as was reported to the police.
  18. Registered childminders are self-employed i.e. have to pay their own tax and national insurance so are not employed by anyone.
  19. Thanks to the OP for posting the photo. What a bodge job and I wouldn't feel safe living there!
  20. How terrible! What sort of person picks on a defenceless animal?! Just to warn people that the cat killer is still at large and killed a family members cat in the most horrific manner 3 weeks ago in Wallington.
  21. Ok, no worries, I have somebody else on the forum wanting them for a school project so they will go to a good home. NOW COLLECTED.
  22. I've donated my blood at St Faith's before and have the card to prove it (I live just across the road) but like Malumbu it seems everything is on-line now! St Faith's was always very busy and I used to have phone calls saying that Greenwich is my nearest blood donor session so I gave up after a few years! I live just across the road from St Faith's but didn't know they had a blood donor session on the 25th.
  23. Have these three big posters from the weekend newspapers if you're still looking? They have more blurb on the back. Collection from North Dulwich.
  24. Let's hope The Charter get on top of their admissions policy soon then! Where does 'urban myth' come into things?
