  1. Agree with you tomskip! It's all become really commercialised! I didn't think Brockwell were having a firework display this year due to complaints/environmental issues but guess they went ahead. I found there were safety issues at Brockwell Park years ago and only took my family once and we live just a 10-12 minute walk away. Couldn't believe the music coming from Brockwell was even louder and more house thumping than the fireworks! Just hope any babies/young children had adequate ear protection!
  2. I agree with you Barry. So many multiple posts on the For Sale section and the Family Classifieds section. Admin used to be quite on top of this years ago but, as other have said, they are busy people. Posting in all capital letters is another bugbear of mine and it happens a lot. I think the rules section needs to explain that when somebody posts something for sale, if they have another item for sale they just need to reply to their own message to add more stuff on.

Many people never > even know these consultations are going on. But the summary of key consultation findings states that a total of 2,471 consultation packs were sent out to 28 streets within the consultation area. Southwark received a total of 365 back, representing a response rate of 15%.
  4. Ofsted are so hit and miss with their inspection dates and like to keep all providers on their toes! I do think that the OP has a point and an inspection from 2011 might differ from 7 years later, especially at a secondary school. Then again, there are some providers in primary school education that have not had an Ofsted inspection for over 10 years.
  5. What an appalling attitude James Barber! Southwark Council have had rented garages over the Southwark area for many years and to be suddenly told they will be taken away to build new houses? We all know there is a critical shortage of housing but this is the lowest of the low!
  6. The OP has certainly opened a debate (they didn't want to open a debate)!? about the leave/remain question on the forum on the 1st October and not been on here since 8th October. Maybe they are too tired after distributing leaflets and going on a march.
  7. Emsworth, I feel your pain and would go and knock again to the property to let the workers know this is not acceptable! I put up with weeks of banging and drilling all through the night and day last Christmas Eve, Boxing Day at my next door place. |I had a word with the workers but they had very limited English and had to phone a boss person to translate what I was saying!

Not sure what you mean JoeLeg as the developer in this case is Southwark Council?
  9. It looks like Southwark are already working on the project so it will probably go ahead. Somebody else on the forum has put up a post about garages on Henslowe Road recently being earmarked too. A good thing for new social housing to be built but if Lendlease are anything to do with it then that's why it's probably going to be 50% available at social housing rent.
  10. Oh dear, surely the OP and others are just boasting about what they can and can't do to a property, when there are other people desperate for a home?
  11. I often see people having this done whilst I'm waiting to pay for stuff in Superdrug in Camberwell and Peckham.

  14. Southwark do have consultations but as usual it is too little too late as people that are against a CPZ do not respond for whatever reason or another. By then it is too late and Southwark have to go with the small percentage who do want a CPZ in place. I couldn't wait to have a CPZ in force in my area over 2 years ago and it's the best thing that's happened but there will be those that disagree as parking was effectively 'free' for many years before this.
  15. How sad and also that nobody bothered to stop.
  16. OK Sue, thanks for clarifying that. Just trying to be helpful but, yes, maybe the OP couldn't get the sofabed out by themselves or were still using it up until the day of collection.
  17. Southwark Council would have taken it away for you for a lot less than that if you left it outside and registered on the website!
  18. Sue Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Why did nobody pull the red lever to alert the > driver? I would have done.... Yes Sue, I think that would have been the first thing I would have done, but people are more likely to get their phones out to film something unusual these days rather than worry about their safety!

Sorry to be a bit dim rch, but what does SNT stand for? Also to say that a few pensioners came along later on etc. doesn't bode well for your local area campaign.
  21. The OP has admitted to not seeing a dentist for about 5 years. To say that he/she is being ripped off is quite extraordinary, especially as they only need a scale/polish after all that time!
  22. We had a birthday party for my daughter around that age at Gambado's and everybody had a great time. This was going back a while and I'm sure if you let them know in advance about food choices they will be ok with it. It's not such a big thing with them at all I'm sure.
  23. Oh dear, what is an Ultrasonic Lion covered in spikes? Is that just as terrible as putting spikes on top of a fence?
  24. There was a heavy police presence on Denmark Hill, Camberwell and surrounding areas yesterday which I noticed and automatically thought of the Elmington Estate deaths and stabbings?
  25. My youngest is in her second year at university and has just received her statement about how much she will receive in maintenance loan for the next academic year. This is from Student Finance. Her maintenance loan just about covers her rent and bills she will be paying in a house share for her and student friends. Her Tuition Fee Loan of ?9,250 is of course paid directly to the university for her course.
