  1. Yes, was there on the 21st with queues going into the car park, shopping and out again over two hours so will see if I get a ticket! Luckily I still have the receipt. Not like Morrisons car park at Camberwell where I've had a word with the manager about things but will start another thread on here sometime!
  2. I've always had a great service from the Royal Mail and find it quite astonishing that you are blaming a member of their staff for faking a signature! I ordered something to be delivered last week from a delivery company but it wasn't. They sent me a dark photo of the parcel being put through my letterbox one evening when I knew I was in. Turns out they put it through next doors letterbox but they were away and I've just got it.
  3. Drove through Grove Hill Road this morning to go Sainsburys and there were parking wardens about, one taking details of a car parked up on the new CPZ which probably shouldn't be there if they had read the signs. It's Christmas Eve but the wardens are out there sometimes!
  4. Just what I was thinking and I'm over in North Dulwich! Then again, lots of parents seem to keep their children up all hours of the day and night these days.
  5. Oh come on Sue, who cares if the manager is a man or woman, also known as a lady?
  6. I shouldn't have to report them. So many multiple posts again on the for sale and family classifieds section today and over the weekend which drives other posts down.
  7. Rye Lane branch closed down 5 years ago. There's a big WH Smith in Lewisham too.
  8. That's great that your dog has been found, but shouldn't you have kept them on a lead in the first place?
  9. I seem to remember somebody posting that the Goodrich School boot sale is no longer being held? Something to do with Southwark Council wanting more monies? I wasn't sure as was at the local vet surgery with my cats last week and saw a booklet advertising the boot sale for last week? All very confusing.
  10. Just wondering why a caf? would be needed in a library? Toilets were not an option years ago in Dulwich Library and certainly not in Grove Vale Library but you just coped even though Labour closed down lots of public toilets. Seems like everybody needs to have their cup of coffee on the go these days.
  11. I noticed trees being cut down on the Denmark Hill estate/Sunray estate recently and asked the workmen what was going on. Some of the trees were very small but the workmen said they were full of disease and had to be cut down.
  12. Lots more multiple posts on the For Sale and Family Classifieds sections over the past few days. Blatant disregard for the rules and some of these posters have been on the forum since it started and should know better.
  13. I was just leaving secondary school (Kingsdale) in the Summer of 1979 (nearly 16) and saw the Buzzcocks on Top of the Pops and still remember all the words to Ever fallen in love. RIP Pete Shelley
  14. Just wondering what was wrong with the original Grove Vale library?

  16. Thanks for the info. Didn't realise it was ready to open so soon. The new school building looks amazing on the website. Was the flyer from the school or Southwark?

Went past Sunray Avenue this morning and there was one guy who had done a great job sweeping up a path free of leaves. The whole length of Sunray Avenue has been full of fallen leaves for days. Nearby in Sunray Gardens there is a lone Southwark litter picker who has been there for years. His job is made harder by the local primary and secondary school children who regularly leave lots of litter.

Very depressing. The bits of litter have probably been there for around 3 weeks because the leaves have not been swept for weeks and so you see it more! The falling leaves are more a problem but because of boundaries set up in the past couple of years by Dulwich/Southwark you could see one side of a road being swept, with the other side being left unswept.

Hope your mum is recovering and I also dread treading on all the fallen leaves, especially as they don't seem to be swept up regularly.
  20. I was due to meet a friend in Lordship Lane yesterday and was aiming to get a couple of buses but then decided to drive in as read Sweetgirls post. Came into Lordship Lane from Melbourne Grove around 11.30am and it was shut from the Goose Green roundabout up until the Townley Road area. Cars were still driving up and down but no buses. Seemed so empty and surreal! Left through Barry Road around 2.30pm and the 176 and 185 were driving along there as probably being diverted.
  21. Somebody posted yesterday about finding a baby bag with clothes and stuff on Peckham Rye. Long shot but could be yours hopefully.
  22. Thinking back, I think the taxis had use of a garage or service area nearby and so used to park and use our street as a storing area. Could this be the case with all your taxis parked on Crystal Palace Road?

Our street had this problem (taxis, lorries, abandoned vehicles, people going on holiday) and the everyday commuters coming in to park. This was nearly 3 years ago before the area was made a CPZ. The taxis were a particular problem.

A few years ago you wrote on this forum and attacked people who supported a CPZ in their area.
  25. Instead of looking these places up on the internet, I would visit them in person to ask questions, look around etc. I have concerns with a couple of the providers on your list.
