  1. Or how about Charles Haughey? WAW.
  2. Stephen Milligan?? Doesn't get much dirtier. Or maybe it does.
  3. I am not sure I understand this post. Macroban - are you saying that the gallery should be sold off? Or the art works therein? Or both? The South London Gallery is a fabulous resource in the area and we should be pleased to have so many galleries in the borough. It is a registered charity and raises funds through corporate sponsorship, donations from foundations and private individuals. It does receive some funding from the Arts Council and also Southwark Council. Personally as someone who pays council tax in the borough and who also works locally, I am more than happy to have some of my taxes fund galleries like this one.
  4. Maybe she sounded better sober!
  5. Mary Coughlan did once make me hold her pint of Guinness in the toilets of the Wexford Inn, while she took a pee. Such an uncouth woman. And I didn't think much of her voice either.

  7. Whilst out running this morning, in Dulwich Park, I saw a lone man with a large camera. And he had a dog. Perhaps the good Burghers of ED ought to know. Should I start a thread about this?
  8. Not a new phenomenon, but confusion may be caused when people use the term Asylum Seeker erroneously, when in fact they are referring to something different eg: an Overstayer, a failed Asylum Seeker who is liable to deportation, an (illegal) economic migrant etc. If a person has successfuly been granted Asylum, they are then given Refugee status - often Temporary Leave to Remain. Don't forget, there has been a lot of global conflict over the past 10-15yrs,perhaps it is not surprising then that people will seek to leave their country of origin.

Or should we be charitable and say, ok use > ED as long as you like. Mick Mac, Every local authority, including the illustrious Royal Borough of K&C will have a share of NASS funded asylum seekers currently residing in their catchment area. Southwark (including ED) is no different. Official policy is to disperse these individuals outside of London and the South East as overheads are deemed to be less. Thus saving tax payers money.
  10. Why, thank you BN5. And I will not draw attention to your inclusion of Bono - but only because of Bad (especially live).
  11. Mary Margaret O'Hara Margot Timmins (of Cowboy Junkies) Joni Mitchell Hazel O'Connor Hope Sandoval (of Mazzy Star) Nick Drake Ray Lamontagne Damian Rice (sometimes) Antony Hegarty Scott Walker Neil Hannon And the great Mr Cathal Coughlan has already been mentioned. As has Skin.

  14. Domitianus - Thank you for clarifying! Now, let the thread continue. As you were.

So a misanthrope hates almost twice as > many people as a misogynist. Indeed, Penguin68. And SeanMacGabhann,I'm sure did mean misanthropic, but Domitianus refuted this specifically in relation to female gender. But I do not want to misinterpret his post and so, in the spirit of comments on this thread, I seek clarification.

Barry House is used by NASS for emergency accommodation for those asylum seekers waiting for dispersal (usually outside of London). This is probably what the coaches/mini buses are for.
  17. This thread is all rather interesting. But Domitianus - I fear you're getting your misanthrope mixed up with your misogynist? Or maybe not. I seek further clarification!
  18. Rarely use buses so can't comment on 185 or "angry Nigel", but I too, like Libra Carr, intrepreted goose1's comments re: travelling past The Maudsley in a negative way. Perhaps wrongly, so am happy to be corrected. *Should perhaps declare professional interest* Anyway, back to tales of the 185!
  19. Alternatively, adopt the Continuum Concept method.
  20. Personally, I would adopt a non-interventionsist approach. Leave your gifted baby alone with a nappy and let him problem solve. Avoid being too pushy or over involved. You wouldn't want him to grow up to hate you. Would you?
  21. Loochie baby - forget Ian Hunter. Referencing Microdisney on some other thread - Respect! Now - what about Fatima Mansions?
  22. Until perhaps tomorrow. Maybe.
  23. Never again. Ever.
  24. Unfortunately caught some of this on Cbeebies last weekend - was babysitting my neice. I was overwhelmed with waves of nausea - and I wasn't even hungover then!( unlike today, Good God). It's almost on a par with that Deeelite "Groove is in the heart" video. Could cause an aural haemhorrage.

    SWine Flu?

I am today afflicted by this acute malaise that I suspect may have been caused by an excessive consumption of Sparkling Wine. Symptoms include headache, dehydration, shivers and general patheticness. No fever. Anti-virals will not help. Chocolate might. There is no cause for public alarm. Normal Infection Control measures apply. Anyone else in the ED area similiarly suffering? Could it be the beginning of a pandemic?
