  1. Slh2009 when you say your partner was not with you are you saying that you need paperwork if travelling with your child regardless of whether you are the mother or the father?
  2. ??? I just hope the madness that has gripped the Labour Party and my labour chums doesn't ever EVEr get the rest of the country ever or we'll end up like Greece. Dull old centrist politics is driven by dull old economics because it's right - people who have actually been in power, see the receipts coming in and the bills going out have realised this since about 1977 that we need some fiscal discipline, including the dull old middle grounders of the labour leadership contest. Corybn comes jumping in like the pied piper of Hamlin with his fantasy, money tree economics and his inflexible dogma born in the student radicalism of the 60s and 79s I know you guys think it's principles - I reckon I could tell you Corybn's line an any matter because it would be paint by numbers what's the left wing line on this?) and any middle class, metropolitan under 40 is like "he's the messiah" . I am honestly scratching my head at your collective stupidity.... Seems not, and it's not a case of lefties talking to each other, Sky news? https://www.opendemocracy.net/ourkingdom/ourkingdom/35-economists-back-corbyn's-policies-as-'sensible' http://news.sky.com/story/1540216/corbyn-wins-backing-from-over-40-economists
  3. ??? "If he gets elected, oh boy will they come. He's going to have to address - support for paedos" Please explain, I seem to have missed this somehow....
  4. I believe the moneysaving expert advise has now changed.someone recently took a similar case to court and lost orovided the charge is reasonable. ?90 is considered 'reasonable in the eyes of the law' . Is just a case of whether the company would be willing to pursue charges, and that's a question of discretion.
  5. They have a mop.....but people wring out their costumes on the floor. A lot of blame is put on fusion management, and yes they have their faults, but the cleaners are very good, but unfortunately not respected. I think it's assumed that they will jump out of a locker, mop in hand to clean up people's mess, including disgarded shampoo bottles and don't get me started on people trudging in with outdoor shoes....

I just want to swimm so feel it's wrong to pay for facilities I don't use. A European court of law would probably agree.....if only I had the time/money to contest.
  7. My partner and I discussed this a few months ago when Carnegie library was looking at ideas. It was something we wanted to suggest, but couldn't make the meetings.. I think community libraries would do well if they offered more than the norm, and this was just one of e many ideas we had in mind. not sure whether it's viable.

    Greece...

Well given that vast amount of money is spent on war weapons, and then the cost of rebuilding counties, (much of it wasted).....I'd like to think that most woulld prefer to alleviate the poverty and uncertainty faced by Greeks.... http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/defence/10859545/Wars-in-Iraq-and-Afghanistan-were-a-failure-costing-29bn.html http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/worldnews/asia/afghanistan/11004928/Afghanistan-has-cost-more-to-rebuild-than-Europe-after-Second-World-War.html
  10. Would be nice if the overground trains continued towards Denmark hill beyond 11:40 pm at night...not sure we need a tube, but can't understand why East London/North London trains can run untill much later than trains running South.
  11. Can't vouch for the source, but some info to start perhaps?..... http://www.zoneinworkshops.com/pdf/Ten%20steps%20to%20successfully%20unplug%20children%20from%20technology%20-%20helpful%20hints.pdf
  12. Ah I missed that, thanks I will have a look at that.
  13. The shop owners are being treated very badly, and the campaign behind it is very vocal. They are not listening to them.... Sounds like they are trying to appeal to those who are more likely to support the gentrification.. variety is the spice of life no? Or do we want high end shops all Over London?
  14. I think you mean to buy in bulk, from good Eco suppliers things such as rice, grains beans, perhaps some canned organic goods, general staples bought by someone who can store it as their home/depot, allowing local regulars to come and pay and pick up their supplies from one Place. more a community led thing, which someone with a van can buy, and the rest of us go buy our produce from them. is that correct Marcus?
  15. Judging by the fact that Hanoi doesn't really explain which company she/he represents and hasn't responded to any replies...... I think you can assume not. Personally I would steer clear of this

  19. Where are the vibrant lively affordable communities ???....actually PM me. Some real estate vulture is bound to have their tentacles up looking for the next investment, scouring forums etc for inside information....😭
  20. Where exactly would people be moving on to.. Affordable areas tend to have high unemployment due to lack of jobs.... It's a catch 22, it's not just London that is being affected by this, most cities are in the same situation. London is loved because of its diversity of culture and class...there once weree undesirable areas that were affordable, now it's all valuable real estate. Yes I get that it's a nauseating article in one respect, but This article isn't as boring as the city heads on the train recently who just kept babbling on about the next up and coming areas for investment. The city will be full of those, or those who invest but don't live here. Thrilling......
  21. The "Nobody from outside London has ever easily bought property in London......." Londoners cannot even contemplate buying in London...it's far too expensive, so families are torn apart. And existing communities broken down, and for many, In your words 'it ain't happening'. Secondly people who can't afford to buy cannot afford to rent and their rents are hiked up ridiculously. Look at what's happening in Dorchester court. Flats accommodated by families are only afforded by 5 individuals sharing. Not every Londoner wants nor can afford craft beers. Pubs were once a community asset, not an exclusive elitist establishment. Restaurants closing down... http://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2015/jan/25/its-like-a-ghost-town-lights-go-out-as-foreign-owners-desert-london-homes Granted, it is the only one I have read about that refers to the eeriness due to lack of people in the area generally, but so many others have closed Worrel thompsons, Blancs, Ramsey's and many others. Due to recession they claim. I think the article is spot on. If you talk to local people, who are on a modest salary, they all say the same thing. Just talk to the people affected by it, who know how to campaign, they seem to have to do it so often to defend their right to live and work in London and remain close to their communities. isn't a warm safe comfortable home, rather than a shed in someone's back garden a basic requirement? At a time when homes are just seen as investment commodities, clearly not.... They are now a luxury. How low we have stooped.
  22. Hi Haven't been to the north cross, market for a while now. Can anyone tell me if Sparky is back? I miss him...
  23. Thank you BB. Where did you get the info from as couldn't find it myself.
