  1. I think, although not sure, the Harris schools are keen to start cadets. The Haberdashers Aske's academies have cadets but the nearest one is New Cross.

Mines not a router problem it's a black box (no idea of proper name) thing that's not receiving a signal at all.
  3. I had a great view of it from my garden but unfortunately didn't get my camera out in time. It's not just private schools that have cadets.
  4. We have a 'powerline av50' thing that means we can get broadband in the back of the flat through our electric circuit - it works well but it wasn't cheap. My broadband has miraculously worked for the last 2 days without dropping off - had a week of practically no connection before than though.
  5. No to permits! It will spread and I have lived in a permitted area before and visitor permits were a nightmare. I don't understand people saying they sometimes have to walk for 10 mins there's always a space on blackwater street which is definitely less than 10 mins and I'm sure other roads have space too. Why do you need to be in sight of your car?
  6. If you entered the years free membership competition and get an answerphone message saying "you entered the competition please ring me on this number..." don't get excited like I did, you just get a 3 day free trial! The gym is good although there were little bits of blue tissues and bottle tops in the machine bottle well things and a few towels on weight machines which scared me away from that area. I didn't see what it was like before but it seems fine to me.
  7. Mine didn't work at all from noon to midnight yesterday. I'm on Lordship Lane near the police station. It's a bit odd that mine didn't work yesterday and yours today - maybe they're doing maintenance or something. I haven't rung them yet as I really wasn't in the mood to be moan at some poor sole on the other end of the phone. I will email though as unless you log each fault you can't be/is extremely hard to be compensated when you get really peeved off and ask for money back.
  8. The one to the left of mrs robinsons will be a barbers, they're nearly finished with the refurb.
  9. Oh my goodness how horrible. I'm guessing you've already asked the pub if they have cctv and spoken to the police? Is she worried that some kind of sexual assault might have happened? My only knowledge on this is from tv (so extremely unreliable) but I always got the impression the these kind of drugs left the system really quickly so really hard to trace but if she was planning on getting checked, if not done so already, she should go asap. I hope your friend gets some answers as it must be truly horrible having no idea what happened to her.
  10. Are you against or for? If it funds making 2000 properties livable then that sounds good to me. I'm not sure about auction though as homes under the hammer has given me the possibly false impression that properties would make more sold through estate agents but I'm definitely not a property expert!
  11. Oh what a lovely thread. The ed forum has done a cilla, wonderful. Good luck
  12. They're very cute. Maybe I'm just a really slow knitter but I don't see how you can knit them with merino or bamboo and make any profit from those prices - how long does it take you to knit one? One of those would probably take me about 8 hours!
  13. I had a similar but lesser experience the other week. I asked for a fringe on my eyebrows and I've measure it and it's 11mm above them and I look ridiculous as it's also slightly wonky. The hairdresser at the time said "is that short enough?" to which idiot me said err no (while thinking what an f'ing b***h trying to get away with it) and then I gave her a sodding tip! I wish I had a back bone. For you though if you think there's a way of thinning it out a bit I would go back and explain. Good luck.

I think (although I could be wrong) that they meant they couldn't order in more to sell, not that you can't wear them.
  15. Done. Good luck

  18. I think companies should be able to advertise direct through the jobcentre. It would be more hassle for them but if they got to take a small commission (or at least less than the huge recruitment companies) to cover the admin costs then there'd probably be more jobs to advertise, especially from smaller companies who might otherwise advertise in newspapers, word of mouth only. Last time I went (admittedly 6ish years ago so may have changed) I had the option of applying for a qualified HGV driver job and something else I also wasn't qualified to do.
  19. Thanks James and well done (tu)
  20. I've just emailed customer services as up-time over the last few months has been quite poor and it's peeing me off.
  21. Just a quick question: who do you ring if you see a flasher (not an aggresive/potential immediate risk) I assume it would be Safer Neighbourhood Team (020 8721 2447) or East Dulwich Police (020 7378 1212) if your're in East Dulwich? I was flashed at a few times when I was young and perhaps naively I just found it funny and never really thought about it. Which has reminded me when I was 18 at a petrol station at 5am the petrol station man was chatting to me on the forecourt and kissed me while I was filling up my car. I just pulled away and gave him my ?20 and went - it didn't even occur to me to call the police, but really that is quite disturbing and I should have told the police. I think sometime young people don't think about how a relatively minor thing such as flashing (not that flashing is OK obviously) could escalate if it's not dealt with.
  22. Most schools do think of parents budgets so I'm very surprised that a ?1500 trip has been planned for 13yr olds! I wouldn't pay that; not even for an A-level student.
  23. Big files and lots of files slow the forum down, that's why there is a limit. Screen resolutions are generally only 72dpi anyway so will never be as clear as a 'normal' printed photo. You can always email high-res versions to people if they want them.
  24. acumenman Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > Remove all bus lanes and insert kerbed off bicycle > lanes at the earliest. > > It should be pavement, followed by bike lanes, and > then traffic lanes. Are you serious? What about people who are unable to walk or cycle, either because they physically cannot or it's just too far on bike or foot?
  25. My favourite bit Midwise: Any questions? Labouring girl: Why me? Midwife: Was fun 9 months ago wasn't it. I love this programme sooo much
