  1. If the parents do read this then they're going to feel pretty crap if they read lots of posts saying 'blame the parents' etc. We don't know the circumstances, I know you're not saying in this case it definitely was the parents fault, but there is no evidence for that. Maybe start a thread in the lounge or drawing room if you want to discuss youth crime. RIP
  2. Blimey what a toughie. If it were me I'd probably do something ridiculous to make myself feel like I'd tried; such as make a video on my phone of me (well my arm) placing the money on the side and locking the door and leaving the main door etc. I'm not recommending that by the way, as it proves nothing, but probably what i'd do! How about he sends another email saying something about how he's never encountered anything like this as it's not the way in the UK and he stupidly mentioned it to his wife, who is now worried and insisting on receiving a receipt in person or something, so it doesn't sound like he's the one being 'awkward'. Then ask if it's possible to find out what time the cleaner would be in, in-case it's possible to find a good time to give the money and receive a receipt in person.
  3. It's different for different roads. Mine is every friday but there's a new (not so new now) pilot scheme though to do with recycling/refuse so maybe you're in it and just didn't realise! Check the southwark website for refuse collection days for your road.
  4. I think art, dt and any other two is fine for a-level. I did art, maths, physics at a-level then art foundation then 4 year design degree. Do talk to his teachers though (but beware them trying to push their own subjects too much!).
  5. There's a thread on the proposed flats further down the page.
  6. I know you said a car option but how about getting to Lewisham (by bus, car, whatever) then the DLR. I miss commuting by DLR, it's like going on a roller coaster for under 5's everyday. Lewisham is the first stop so you'd get a seat too.
  7. It's always angered you but it's always made me smile. They're only there for school travelling hours making sure they cross safely.

  9. It's different for different cameras. There should be a way to view the lot then select all and delete. If you can't work it out or find your manual you'll prbably be able to find an electronic version on the internet.
  10. I'd be charged a fortune then as I'm on Lordship Lane and people use it frequently, including today when I found the packaging for tena lady in the top of my bin! I haven't lost the control of my bladder yet. I'm nearly opposite the police station so I'm surpirsed no perpetrators have been caught in the act and banged to rights. I can see the reason for the rule but it is a bit silly.

  12. Although I love the idea I'm not organised enough, so I'd never go. I think it would be risky and lots of hard work but if you do go for it best of luck.
  13. I can't see the co-op or iceland closing as they both always have queues so they must be doing alright. I still vote no to a waitrose or m&s because we just don't need another one. If I did have a magic wand i'd replace iceland with a waitrose but really I can live without and I don't want local businesses to suffer just so I can have a melt in the middle waitrose pudding every now and again.
  14. I don't think "ED is Run Down with Dog mess, litter, broken street lights". Yes the pavements and roads aren't perfect but that's true of most places. I've stood in dog phoo but they are trying to sort that out, some people will always not pick up after their dogs. Never noticed a broken streetlight (but i've never looked). I've never had a problem finding a bin, and there are always home wheelie bins to pop rubbish in. The toilet in the gym is I think meant to be a public toilet and there are pubs and cafes but I agree it would be handy as I always feel sneaky using an establishments toilet if I'm not buying anything. There's a sticker scheme somewhere (can't remember) where local establishments can sign up to to allow their facilities to be used, I think they get a small payment from council but I don't think Southwark has a scheme like this. All in all I think ED is well looked after, just my opinion.
  15. Q. Why is it that usually low frequency facebook users as soon as they have a baby post at least 50 photos of their baby a week?
  16. I'm more nervous of being mugged so I never get my phone out in the dark when I'm out and about alone. Maybe I should get my 1990's nokia out from under the bed as no-one would want to steal that brick!
  17. I've never confiscated a girls mobile at school, it's in my experience always the boys who try to sneak out their phones.
  18. ???? Wrote: ------------------------------------------------------- > This gets even more ironic given BeryyCherry's > post on the NYE thread! and again on the ed good deed thread, moaning aboout the moaning - love it. I do agree a bit though, the forum is in a bit of a doom and gloom dip at the moment but i'm sure we'll come out the other end soon.
  19. I feel enlightened. Thank you
  20. last q of the night i promise: What is the point of twitter?
  21. Do men have a chat when having a wee, particularly men who haven't met before? Some women like to have a chat through cubicle walls with people they've never met before while having a wee, and i've always found it a bit odd.
  22. 1) Why do we produce ear wax? 2) Why do bellybuttons smell of cheese? 3) Why do I have an irrational dislike of Lindsay Lohan?
  23. From what i can work out a TV programme of a high school musical/theatre group who have since released a single.
