Got some at Morrisons early this morning. Not all pumps were working. Also looked like there was some at the Esso on East Dulwich Road.

Hmm. Feel free to continue to think you were voting for or against LTNs but you weren't. You were being consulted. You've been consulted. They've spun the results. You don't like the outcome and by all means protest. But just like the *whispers* CPZ, this wasn't a vote with a binary outcome.

Each of the Streetspace measures was rejected by two out of three people living and working in the three Dulwich LTNs, who opted for ?return it to the original state?. Look I'm no apologist for the council who I know have heavily spun their presentation of the data but surely this is factually incorrect. Each of the Streetspace measures was rejected by two out of three people, who responded to a survey, living and working in the three Dulwich LTNs, who opted for ?return it to the original state?. We don't know how many people are classified as living and working in the three Dulwich LTNs but we do know that the consultation newsletter was posted to 19,729 addresses and of the survey respondents 5,538 classified themselves as living and working in the three Dulwich LTNs. Not watched much US Open Tennis before. Blimey they need to sort themselves out. Empty seats. Lots of shots of people on their phones. People popping down to the court for selfies in-between points. Heart of Glass. Thank god for Wimbledon. And well done Emma, fantastic.

Really ? Have you counted the occupied car parking spaces at the Health Centre ? Maybe 20 or so. You can stand on EDG pretty much anytime during the day and count 20 cars in a minute or two, so "contribute significantly" seems a little OTT to me.

Frontages on F H Road shopping parade

Here's the list of businesses on FH road from the Kelly's Directory from 1910's. It looks like 120 was a confectioner back then, even though there was another at 116 (118 was a dairy). Perhaps they bought a lot of sweets back then. http://specialcollections.le.ac.uk/digital/collection/p16445coll4/search/searchterm/London/field/place/mode/exact/conn/and/order/nosort -
And what about the 55 staff ? Nursey education is not the best paid of profession's and East Dulwich and environs is not a cheap place to live so you can assume they would need to commute from further away. I wonder how many will drive and where will they park. Plenty of non-CPZ spaces on Melbourne Grove (south).

I think they do - Mon-Fri - regardless. -
Ahh - found it. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/housing/new-council-homes/where-we-re-building/peckham/flaxyard-site Seems like a real shame that the Council are building on green space. Isn't there also a huge new set of flats being built where the old timber yard (Whittens) was ?

Anyone know what's going on Melon Road around the entrance to Peckham Pulse - there are a load of hoardings in place which seems to have sprung up now that the testing centre has been removed from the PP car park. I tried to cycle through there to Sumner Road but it's now all blocked by the new hoardings.

Annoying words that have cropped up in our language

We no longer have problems, difficulties or issues just challenges. -
Went to Grove Vale library this afternoon. Closed until further notice the sign on the door says. Though council website says it's due to a water leak. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/libraries/find-a-library?chapter=8

A few drunk loutish England fans let the side down on Lordship Lane
ed_pete replied to IlonaM's topic in The Lounge
If you get a chance listen to the two callers to Stephen Nolan's show Saturday night. Starts at 1:46 in. English fans in Danish section for Denmark game. Awful, awful behaviour - second caller alleges that English "fan" threatened her 9 year old daughter. Makes me so ashamed. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sounds/play/m000xtx1 -
For the uninitiated Yoga can seem a bit of a minefield with image after image of the young beautiful holding positions achievable by very few of us, especially if you're starting at our age. I've been practising yoga for around 5+ years now and although I might not always feel I've benefited, I'm sure I have and not just physically. For posture and alignment I think your best style is Iyengar, it's focus is all about alignment. Generally it's not as dynamic and fast-paced as other styles with a heavy focus on ensuring the position is right rather than following a sequence or flow. It relies heavily on props (typically a chair and blocks) and adapts well to people of all levels. An alternative - which I have had little experience of tbh, is Feldenkrais. Check it out. There is lovely lady that lives locally called Sarah Jettoo who teaches both Yoga (not Iyengar) and Feldenkrais who would no doubt be happy to pass on some advice.

Shannons Garden Centre - Forest Hill. -
The carbon cost is a fair question but I would hope that over the lifetime of the replacement stock build + emissions would be less than emissions from the current and secondly I would also hope that the scheme would insist that the contracts for rebuilds were as close to carbon neutral as possible.

Start with mine if you like. I think we need more communal living. Gardens where I live are small and shady. Scrap them for a single larger shared space like they have in some of the wealthier parts. Then some solar panels, ground source heat pumps grey water scheme in well insulated buildings designed for living the way people live now rather than 140 years ago.

I think it's time for a radical overhaul of the crumbing Victorian housing stock to reduce the long term environmental footprint. Gas boilers will be phased out sooner or later and retro-fitting air source heat pumps is going to be very difficult. We love the large rooms with their high ceilings and sash windows but the construction leaks heat even if you've done your upmost to prevent it. Climate change will bring more dry summers in the SE and so those that haven't already had movement or subsidence may see evidence of this. Any ideas how this will go or will those living in London in 2100 still largely be occupying houses that we built 200+ years before by builders who probably never expected that they would last a quarter of that.
