Disruptive building work during the pandemic
ed_pete replied to Harmlessmischief's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
I sympathise with you but I fear these is not much that can be done and the level of disruption will really depend on the quality of the builders your neighbour has employed. Our neighbours have been undertaking significant works since May, converting the house into flats. The disruption was/is so bad I convinced my employer to allow me back in the office and I have been working here since early August. My daughter is still working from home and although most of the external works are completed they can still be extremely disruptive and rude. The builders have no respect for the fact that many people in the surrounding properties are WfH. I would advise that you have contact details for (a) your neighbour (we didn't as the building owners didn't live there), (b) the building company and © the council's environmental health dept. If your neighbour is not present when the works start then I would recommend setting the ground rules early in terms of noise and working hours. I have heard of the council acting as an arbitration service to ensure that the builders only work the hours they are supposed to - especially at weekends and adhere to the rules regarding noise - 2 hours on, 2 off. Yep fair enough there's plenty of rule breakers out there but I expect the impact is low so long as they are in the open air. And we should celebrate the fact that East Dulwich is only at 46.7 (per 100k) as of 19/11. https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/details/interactive-map

Hmmm whilst I know this is true in some respects I find it remarkable given the abuse of the rules. There's three or four cafes on the OKR between the Bricklayers Arms flyover and the Tesco's that have always had groups of men outside socialising whilst drinking coffee (I assume) early evening. Come the heightened restrictions, they're still there but the tables and chairs have been taken away...until now. Tonight I spotted a couple of them have gotten fed up with standing up so have brought camping chairs along instead. Similar picture in Peckham at the cafe opposite Lidl. Same group of men hanging about there on a regular basis as there was before. Some people are just not going to change their behaviour. One wonders how bad things would have to get before they did.

Went to JS this afternoon around 2:30 - no queue - walked straight in. Didn't get the feeling there was any issues really.

It?s not quite right. The right filter is for those turning right from Dulwich Village onto East Dulwich Grove, not HML. They have also put in a cycle lane on the left using some of the width, which means it?s not possible for one car to head straight on to Red Post Hill whilst another turns right onto EDG.

P?t?. Pate is something quite different.

Got to be a contender for a niche thread award ? :) -
What is it that people don't understand? ED to LB this morning. Photos deleted - Admin

Sorry to be a spoilt-sport but current UK Gov guidelines for office working are to try and avoid hot-desking completely but where it cannot be avoided, desks should be thoroughly sanitised between occupants.

Bob - I'm aware that this is the lounge but just remember that 40000+ people have died so your attempts at humour may not always be appreciated.

Re EDG and a cycle lane. Southwark have implemented a two-way cycle lane on a length of Trafalgar Avenue which is a major north-south route from the Old Kent Road to Peckham used by several buses. The road has been narrowed to facilitate this but admittedly there was no street parking available to be removed. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/assets/attach/11172/Cycleway-35-Bermondsey-to-Peckham-notice-dated-12-Dec-2019-.pdf

Goose Green councillors - how can we help?
ed_pete replied to jamesmcash's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Thing is, if you could get enough people together you could just go and get a load of Lime or Jump bikes from Central London and distribute around ED and Peckham. They're dockless after all. -
Are the new ED parking permits paper or electronic
ed_pete replied to EDlittlemoo's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yep - you won't receive anything in the post it's all online. https://www.southwark.gov.uk/parking/parking-permits/on-street-permits -

I very much doubt the council will have monitoring data from a comparable period, if at all. I strongly suspect that whatever data is collected will be spun to justify the changes.

Trying to get a parking permit
ed_pete replied to the_duke_of_hazzard's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
You can email them [email protected] or ring them - search for Southwark Parking Permits but they cannot take payments over the phone - online only. -
Bstch 3 - approved. Cameras to stop traffic heading north through Dulwich Village at peak times. Also aame on Townley to stop traffic exiting to EDG 8-10 , 3-6 http://moderngov.southwark.gov.uk/ieDecisionDetails.aspx?ID=7153

Lots of vehicles doing reversing manoeuvres and three point turns this morning...

Yep - on my bike coming home this evening trying to exit from Elsie onto EDG (turning right), a journey I have done 100's of times. First time ever traffic was tailing back from the LL junction to the bus stop between Derwent and Melbourne. Still nice and quiet on Elsie and plenty of room for the non-existent pedestrians to socially distance themselves.

Trying to get a parking permit
ed_pete replied to the_duke_of_hazzard's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Yep same here - yesterday unverified and could only buy a monthly pass. Tonight logged on again (noticed that DOB and Sex from profile has been lost - definitely added when account was created) and went to try to buy a permit again. Asked for the Council Tax Number (which again I had added yesterday) and this time it was verified straight away and I was able to get the annual permit. This system is shocking, there is no way it has been properly tested. I work in software development and there is absolutely no way this would get through our QA process. -
Trying to get a parking permit
ed_pete replied to the_duke_of_hazzard's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Further update on this, and I have to admit it's not at all clear to me but it seems that if you have used the Dash Parking app before to pay for normal car parking using your phone then you cannot set up an parking permit account using that same mobile number and you have to create a new account that has a different number. And it all has to be done online as Southwark won't take payments over the phone. Something that should be so simple just isn't. -
14th September.

Trying to get a parking permit
ed_pete replied to the_duke_of_hazzard's topic in General ED Issues / Gossip
Also having issues, I think in part because Southwark have outsourced this to "Dash" parking services that I have used before to pay for car parking. Currently only able to purchase a Monthly permit because my status is "unverified". Fingers crossed I'll be verified in a day or two but I'm not holding my breath. -
I am working in the office because of extremely disruptive building work in neighbours house. We use 4 floors in the building where I work and I am the only person on the floor where I sit which has a capacity of 130. Theoretically the company think we can reach a capacity of 30% and maintain social distancing and they are going to "encourage" more people back over the coming weeks, at least a few days a week, but I get the distinct feeling most are going resist quite strongly, especially those with longish commutes.

Interesting. The bulletin was issued on 26/8 at 5:20pm, and included data for 7 days up to 24/8 which includes 20/8. That was a bad day in relative terms with 12 cases and the last time we had that many on one day was 1st May. However the number for Tuesday 25th was zero. Total for the last 5 days 21/8 to 25/8 is 24. On balance though the number of cases is increasing, the 7 day rolling average for June was less than 2 per day and July less than 2.5. Of course we could just be testing more people now than then. https://coronavirus.data.gov.uk/cases?areaType=ltla&areaName=Southwark
