  1. ooh, gosh. How do we know it was an au pair? Did she throw up her hands and say 'help, I'm only an au pair'. Maybe she was a nanny. Maybe she was a family friend - just because she had an accent instantly to assume she's an au pair is a little presumptious. I'm with moos on this one.
  2. "Must be new requirement because in the 80's I remember telling the Police I'd deal with an an accident myself." road traffic act 20 years ago (1988)
  3. Pretty sure it's a legal requirement to inform the police of any sort of prang, whether or not fault is admitted. It is necessary for the insurance companies etc.
  4. walked past there last night and it was entirely full of blokes. couldn't see a female customer in there at all.
  5. It'll have you blubbing that one Jah. Don't get David Sedaris, I've tried Me Talk Pretty One Day and summing else (I think). Just finished Things My Girlfriend and I Argue About which I got at the book swap, I don't know who's it was. I'm glad I took it because I haven't chortled so much at a book for ages. It's a bit silly but totally funny.
  6. the proof will be in the margheritas in my opinion.......

  10. Not sure I'd feel happy on a plane with a steep landing angle. It's bad enough as it is.
  11. it should be Pierre, but rarely is. Too much stiff steamed milk is a pain too though.
  12. Interesting thread, I have been in there once or twice and he's seemed okaay(italics denote slight tremulousness), but have heard before of his bizarre customer services. Anyway, I was walking past there a couple of months ago, dressed up a bit as going out for a meal. He was getting out of his car as I walked past and looked me in the eys and then spat on the pavement right next to me. Now some could say he was going to spit anyway but at the time I felt really uncomfortable.
  13. not too much froth on the cappucinos. I hate that, half a cup of hot air with a dribble of bitter, too strong, too hot coffee at the bottom.

  15. I quite like DKH, gets the old heart pumping and fair wakes you up, it's not too bad a hill, short and sharp. PLUS you get to cycle down it on the way home.
  16. But when the wind is from the east we get no planes, doesn't happen often but is noticable when it does.
  17. isn't the westerly preference because of the prevailing wind from the west and therefore can't really be changed?
  18. Anyone living in Southwark is entitled to a FREE 2 hour session on bike training: how to take the safest position on the road etc. Great for boosting confidence if you are a nervous cyclist. Pierre's advice of imagining no other road user is aware of you is good.

  20. cycling has the added benefits of a cardio-vascular workout and no dependancy on fossil fuels.
  21. and let's make this clear - Tony has taken on the chin several ribbings about his (non) use of the space bar.
  22. it looks like it is getting close to being finished
  23. Yes, agreed. It is the displaying of the disc that is the issue. I was bloody lucky yesterday. Came out at around lunchtime to put new disc in the car and a DVLA van was clamping a car just metres from mine. I checked the clamped car after and the tax dsic was a month out of date though.
  24. Bit of a caps lock situation there mlteenie?
